"In England, basically nowhere. Hospitals "
This is not actually true.
Although masks are no longer mandatory in England, you DO have to wear them in certain places. They are compulsory on
TFL London transport, including buses trams and Dockland railway. Some other establishments are strongly advising people to wear them.
Most of the shops, buses are encouraging people to continue to wear them(unless exempt)
In my area the wearing of masks is quite high.
They are still Mandatory in Scotland too.

I've heard that masking on the Tube has dropped.
I believe masking is encouraged but not enforced or enforceable. It's dropped a lot in Manchester.
I continue to wear my mask indoors in public. |

This is correct. We were in London for the weekend and there was no mask enforcement on the underground. |

It has dropped and from personal experience I'd say it's about 50/50 now and even though it is a condition of travel it's not enforced. |

"I stand corrected on that then "
Technically it is a condition of travel and can be enforced by enforcement officers but not the police but its not being. We travel by bus And tube regularly and have not seen any body challenged and lots of TLF staff arent wearing them either. |

So OP it is actually not the law anymore to wear face coverings anywhere in England.
Hospitals and medical settings are making it mandatory unless exempted and some businesses make it clear they want you to wear one however if you go to a shop, restaurant, bar ect There will be a fair few people not wearing them and you wouldn't be challenged.
Regarding taxis I know that for example Uber Strongly encourages both you and the driver to wear one and you or the driver can cancel if no mask is being worn but it very much depends on the driver and I think that's the case in most taxis. |

"Many many thanks every one this is personally for us going to feel very strange but I’m sure we will get used to it.

You can wear one if you want to but you will have to get used to seeing plenty of people without one. Hope you enjoy your time here. |

I'd encourage you to wear them in public indoors, as you may encounter bugs that you've not seen back home. Covid infection is quite high too and it might spoil travel, if you acquired a Covid infection that testing identified.
Where I live, almost everyone wears them. Many are also still keeping distance between themselves and others. |

Same here, people definitely wear them in the shops (70 % or so) and some in the streets. It would pay off to have a few masks in your bag, just in case you feel more comfortable in some places. Local beauticians insist on masks as do some hairdressers still. |

"Wander around the Trafford Centre in Manchester and I would guess that mask wearing is 1/5 in a 100.
I would say it is nearer 20% wearing a mask
"
Noooooo. I wouldn't get it close to that high - tell you what, get your clicker, and we'll meet for a coffee and count lol
Whoever is closest buys the next coffee.
Mostly I find that of those wearing masks it is usually a family group. |

I'm seeing between 20% and 60% in most places I go.
Occasionally I get stared at or even shouted at for wearing a mask. Those who do so are welcome to take a long walk off a short pier |

Clickers are good… but gut instinct says it’s 20%
A fifth of every 100 doesn’t seem right ….sounds too many….

Bad text formatting on my part - sorry lol
I meant between 1 and 5 in a 100.
I was there twice in a week two weeks ago and three times last week.
All at differing times - early/late etc. |

I am the only one wearing a mask around here, so if you plan to wear a mask come stand with me.
Seriously shopping centre, supermarket, school playground, bus, train, it's still just me. Hell of a shock when I came back to UK and saw no one wearing a mask

It is still automatic for me to mask in shops, supermarkets and fuel stations yet I am content enough not masking in pubs and eating out. Masks have always been about protecting others not yourself. We have to accept we will all catch Covid, even if vaccinated, and many of us will probably catch it multiple times during our lifetime. |

That’s the thing if I catch it I’m probably finished due to blood clot on the lung and diabetes and strange eyebrows plus I’ve got a cunting hacking cough at the moment so I will be wearing a mask.
Thanks everyone.

It does seem to be inevitable that we'll all be exposed eventually.
The longer we leave it, the better medicine and science will understand it and how to prevent disability or death.
I hope you avoid it for a long time. |

I mainly wear mine across my nose and mouth. You might find though, that with those eyebrows, double masking can be quite effective. One over the middle bit of the face, the other across your forehead |

Wherever you feel uncomfortably close to others, contrary to popular belief we don't actually need to be forced to wear a face covering.
