My son (21) tested positive this morning with the lat test, ive tested negative.

We've just both been down to have the pcr test and get results tomorrow hopefully.

The regs have changed re self isolating, should I isolate until I get my result or am ok to go into work etc ?

The one question I wanted an answer to and I forgot to ask at the test centre.

Rules don't change until tomorrow. 10 day self isolation if tested positive today.

Yeah I'd definitely self isolate today. Be the most sensible thing to do.

One would think if there's a chance you may be positive, then you should isolate until results are in.

You have to self isolate until the results but if you are negative then from tomorrow you can go to work.

Do you think the forum of a swingers website is the place most likely to provide the correct information?

Thanks for the input - it was just general advice I wanted. I was unaware of the regs change until this morning, there are people in the medical profession on here too.

I reckon that we've got a good cross section of people on here that do actually have specialist knowledge of all sorts of different topics. Maybe even more so than some other types of website. Like everywhere the trick is sorting out the good information from the nonsense.

There's lots of people on here who do know the actual rules. So there is nothing wrong with the OP asking the question.

My son had a negative PCR test yesterday and he was allowed to go to work last night.

It also varies with where you live and if you’ve been vaccinated.

Wow. Just asking a simple question can lead to so much negative. What's wrong with people?

The pcr for me came back negative, my sons was positive, we're doing our best to stay apart at home, but apparently the new gov guidelines mean I can enter the normal world so back at work tomorrow.

Im grateful as I cant afford to be off work, but slightly alarmed at the fact even when living with a live case of covid your allowed back out.

If you're double jabbed, you are no longer required to isolate.

Consider asking your employer, if not self employed. They might prefer you isolate, though with the negative test it's unlikely you're infected.

Definitely try to keep away from each other. Keep using the home LFT tests for a few days. Consider how many people you meet at work and if you can stay a distance from them.

Soz OP didn't see your previous post...glad it's negative...but yes I don't get it either how you're allowed mix as you please...it can take up to 14 days to contract the virus after being in contact with an infected person best of luck though x

Keep testing yourself before you head out to work. I'd even go for daily tests for the next week or so. Hope your son's ok x

On a precaution level acting safely would be sensible to isolate remember the government have also got many things wrong so taking this in mind.

Wishing you good health and speedy recovery for your son

You could have the test and be negative then another test a few days later and be positive...it's all confusing, you do what you feel is right for you and your family and your conscious..even if you don't need to isolate.
