Just a quick question for you lot, hopefully someone can answer!
Firstly, if I should have posted this in a different forum I apologise.
I had my second jab on Sunday. As a result, I am unable to get the pass until 22nd August.
I know you can have a test, and registering the results online means you can apply for the pass.
I’m going to an even on the 21st, and obviously need the pass. So I will be doing a test, and getting the pass via that route.
My question is, can I do this using a rapid lateral flow, or do I need to do a PCR?
I don’t mind doing the PCR, but it is an inconvenience. So my preference is rapid lateral flow.
When I register my result online, is there a waiting period before I can access my pass? As I know it only lasts for 48 hours. |

"Lateral flow test at home, apparently can take up to 2 hours to show, and will last for 48 hours as you say. (I looked at my NHS app for this information)"
You have made my life considerably easier!
I have the app, but a lot of the stuff on it hasn’t been updated. Just wanted the reassurance that it’s actually the case. Thank you! |

No worries. Mine hasn't updated to where I need it either, but under domestic pass it lays it all out for me |

It’s all daunting!
As much as ensuring the safety of myself and everyone else is clearly the priority, I just want a fun night out with no hiccups!
Best of luck with your need for the pass anyway, and thank you for your help |

I didn’t think you were fully vaccinated until 14 days after your second jab? |

My point is that it will have been two weeks the day after the event I’m attending, so I have to get my pass via the testing route.
I’ve just had a proper look at the app, it shows I’m double jabbed but it still won’t allow me to get the pass until the 22nd.
I just wanted to check whether anyone else had done a lateral flow for the pass, to ensure it’s the case that you can get it and there’s no delay.
I’m just going to do a test Friday, upload the results and hope there are no issues with the pass. If there are I’ll contact the club/organisers and check to see whether the vaccination record is sufficient evidence. |

"OP I’d check with the venue you are going to, some require PCR, but some are happy with lft "
They want the pass, which I believe you can get via PCR or lateral flow. I just want to avoid having to go out for a PCR and then waiting for the result before I can get the pass, first night out in a long time so I don’t want to miss out! |

I have just looked at the Government website and wanting a PCR test to go to an event is not a valid reason to get a free one. If you have no symptoms you can only have one if you live with someone positive or if your GP or council has told you to have one. |

Yes, I've heard of events asking for PCR, but I don't think that there's a valid route to get it without symptoms unless you go private. |

In which case, surely a lateral flow should suffice to get the pass.
I’m honestly just overthinking it all. I’m going to do a lateral flow today and see how long it takes before the pass is valid. Then another on Friday. |

Yes.
I quote directly from my "domestic" tab from the NHS app
"Your NHS COVID Pass expired
How to get a new one
There are 4 ways you can get an NHS COVID Pass: through testing, full vaccination, natural immunity, or an exemption.
Testing
Get a negative lateral flow test (LFT) or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test at a testing site. The result will be reported automatically.
You can also do a lateral flow test at home and use the NHS service to report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result. It can take up to 2 hours for your test record to show.
Your new NHS COVID Pass will be valid for 48 hours.
Vaccination
You can get an NHS COVID Pass 2 weeks after completing a full course of vaccine. It can take up to 5 days for your vaccination record to show." |

“Event or venue organisers in England that choose to use the NHS COVID Pass as a condition of entry can decide whether to accept self-declared medical exemptions where an individual cannot vaccinate or test, ensuring they comply with the Equalities Act 2010.
Your customers may declare a medical exemption directly with you. You and your staff should not ask for evidence of the exemption.
If businesses decide to require evidence of Covid-19 status as a condition of entry, they should ensure that they comply with all the relevant legal obligations (for example, the Equalities Act 2010) and guidance that applies.”

Just to clarify, I completely agree with having to present a pass on arrival and feel far more comfortable attending knowing that everyone must do so. I have no issue with getting a pass to attend. It is simply that I am unable to get a pass in the most convenient way as it will have only been 13 days since my second vaccine.
I have messaged the club, providing evidence that I am double jabbed and will have been for 13 days as of the date of the event. They appear to be happy with that being presented as evidence, but as a precaution I will do a test, as I would have done any way the day beforehand and sort the pass out.
In my head, I was under the impression that lateral flow tests results would not be sufficient to get the pass, and that there may be a waiting time. But as has been shown above, it takes up to two hours to ascertain the pass. So hopefully, I should have no problems sorting that. |

I dont know which club you're going to. But I went to Chams last Sunday. I had only had my second jab the Monday before. I couldn't get the Domestic pass bit, but managed to download the proof I had had 2 jabs on the travel section.
Which they accepted no problem.
So maybe contact the club and ask if they want the official Pass bit, or Proof of double jab |
