so boris said hes lifting all restriction on visitors and people going into care homes well sorry boris we will make that decision not you ... we shut down 4 weeks before you decided too and we will decide when to open and when we do it will be a gradual process ..

this will be the same for alot of businesses too all Boris has done is pushed all the responsibility away from the government....

had meetings with several drs and consultants today not one of them was happy with the government decision it really is a shambles ... yes we need to open up yes we need to learn to live with covid but from rules one day to none the next is reckless.

I think the announcement on Monday was just a preview of what may happen, I'm sure by next Mondays announcement more details will have been released, I also think the mask rules will stay in certain circumstances.

Bath ish

The ethicial thing would have been to back up those who required masks to be worn by law

So nursing homes hospitals docs pubs etc and alow those who want others to keep distance to carry cattle prods

Any premises can set its own entry rules but they need to enforce them. I have observed mask wearing compliance everywhere but am also aware that in some shops people haven't worn masks and shops have let them get away with it, even with legislation. If people want to visit care homes they will wear masks, if they want to feel safer they will go to shops where people wear masks...at least for the near future while cases are rising sharply.

I thought he just said wearing masks would not be compulsory any longer but to use common sense.

No where did he make it compulsory NOT to wear them in care homes or anywhere else for that matter.

Seems like you may be trying to stir the pot here

The government wants the hospitalisations and body count to happen in the summer, before the normal winter pressures happen. Personally i think its insane, all the patients i see that have covid now are double vaxed and still in a bad way. Its going to be a rough few months, i hope i am wrong.

People need to remember not matter how many vaccinations you have, you still get the virus you still transmit. The vaccination does not make you immune, it is designed to suppress symptoms.

But restrictions have been lifted in stages gradually . And this is the last stage to go . What’s actually going anyway ? Mandatory mask wearing and the need to not social distance . That’s it isn’t it ? The last remaining two things . Seems a reasonable last step to take. And as has been pointed out , you can still chose to wear a mask and you can still do your best to keep a distance from people .

As he also said , if not now when ?

And rules have to be dropped sometime and obviously it would be an overnight thing from one day to the next , how else would you do it lol

it also helps make you less likely to get it and harder to transmit.

I thought though the figures showed most people in hospital had not been vaccinated

Vaccines are not "designed to suppress symptoms" they are designed to teach your immune system how to deal with the virus.

According to the data, being fully vaccinated makes you over 85% less likely to become infected and "IF" infected 65% less likely to infect others... so that means that a fully vaccinated person will be 91% less likely to infect others.

Surely if the laws on social distancing and mask wearing are relaxed then homes will not have the power to stop people visiting their relatives? I appreciate your concerns but think you may face legal action if you try to prevent relatives meeting.

I highly doubt that, a couple of years ago there was an outbreak of norovirus and the care homes in my area stopped allowing visits to protect the residents.
