I was just wondering if you took the jab, fell ill from taking it and subsequently had to take lots of time off or worse.. would your employer be liable for damages, sick pay etc? I assume that if you're forced by your employer to take the jab then they'd be in the frame if something bad happened to you.

" It being a requirement for a job isn’t the same as being forced to take it. You have a choice - meet the requirements of the job or find a different job. Same as anyone for whom the Hep B vaccine is a requirement, or even a specific qualification is a requirement. You’re not forced to do it. You can choose to do that or something else. Anyone damaged by the vaccine would be covered by the Vaccine Damage scheme in the same way anyone damaged by any other vaccine.

" Anyone damaged by the vaccine would be covered by the Vaccine Damage scheme in the same way anyone damaged by any other vaccine." That's limited to £120k is it not and I believe the Covid vaccine companies have been indemnified against any legal action resulting from their vaccines. The Independent has a very good article on this dated 02.12.20. Whilst life changing and debilitating side effects may be rare, they are appearing and those suffering from them are precluded from seeking higher damages to cover such things as loss of earnings, ongoing care costs etc.

"But if you have the vaccine isn’t it supposed to protect you?" Research shows it can reduce transmission also. Yes you are much less likely to suffer adverse affects if vaccinated but not 100%. If both people vaccinated better than one. Well that's what the research is pointing at

Made compulsory for NHS workers. 000s developed narcolepsy. GSK now facing lawsuits a decade later. Not sure about the employer (NHS).

"But if you have the vaccine isn’t it supposed to protect you?" you missed the word "help" between "to" and "protect"... Why is it, after all this time, people still don't realise that the vaccine, like every other vaccine, doesn't make someone invincible. I have pointed this out and had others point this out many times so why are people still making this same point? By not getting vaccinated, you are contributing to the overall spread among the other un-vaccinated. Whilst doing that, you're increasing the chances of those who are vaccinated but the vaccine wasn't effective, getting it and potentially dying.

" By not getting vaccinated, you are contributing to the overall spread among the other un-vaccinated. " An incorrect assumption. I'm currently working in a deer park approximately 500yds from the nearest human being. And you really think I'm more at risk that 18 stone Bertie-the-self-righteous sitting around all day spewing out his irrational hatred of the unvaccinated to anyone in Wetherspoons who'll listen? Yeah right.

The legal cases around Pandermix are a totally different issue - the issue there is that the problems WERE known about before the vaccine was rolled out. That's not remotely the same as rare reactions. Also the main currently ongoing court proceedings here in the UK are actually against the DWP as they have repeatedly refused to see Narcolepsy as a significant injury or disability - that's why people are still having to fight for compensation.

The overwhelming majority of those in hospital are not vaxxed and in an age group where they had the chance to be. There is a minority of single dose vaccinated in hospital as well. It's this data that shows have important 2 doses is in protecting against the India / delta variant. It's also why the vaccine programme is heavily focusing on as many 2nd jobs as possible during the next month. There has been 1 case reported where a person with 2 jabs who was also past the 2 week window after the 2nd jab who has died from covid. They were in thier 80s and very frail with multiple health issues. When did 1 case become the majority?? KJ

" Check out Pandemrix. I believe when Swineflu hit this was speeded through the approvals process for emergency use. Made compulsory for NHS workers. 000s developed narcolepsy. GSK now facing lawsuits a decade later. Not sure about the employer (NHS). " No not identical but the BMJ has this to say which is interesting and provides ammo to those who don’t trust either big pharma or Govts... “In October 2009, the US National Institutes of Health infectious diseases chief, Anthony Fauci, appeared on YouTube to reassure Americans about the safety of the “swine flu” vaccine. “The track record for serious adverse events is very good. It’s very, very, very rare that you ever see anything that’s associated with the vaccine that’s a serious event,” he said. Four months earlier, the World Health Organization had declared H1N1 influenza a pandemic, and by October 2009 the new vaccines were being rolled out across the world. A similar story was playing out in the UK, with prominent organisations, including the Department of Health, British Medical Association, and Royal Colleges of General Practitioners, working hard to convince a reluctant NHS workforce to get vaccinated.2 “We fully support the swine flu vaccination programme … The vaccine has been thoroughly tested,” they declared in a joint statement. Except, it hadn’t. Anticipating a severe influenza pandemic, governments around the world had made various logistical and legal arrangements to shorten the time between recognition of a pandemic virus and the production of a vaccine and administration of that vaccine in the population. In Europe, one element of those plans was an agreement to grant licences to pandemic vaccines based on data from pre-pandemic “mock-up” vaccines produced using a different virus (H5N1 influenza). Another element, adopted by countries such as Canada, the US, UK, France, and Germany, was to provide vaccine manufacturers indemnity from liability for wrongdoing, thereby reducing the risk of a lawsuit stemming from vaccine related injury.”

"Good. Vaccines are already compulsory in care homes. Before I even started in care, I had to provide my vaccination record and have a hep B jab because I didn't have one. Covid jabs should be no different. I’ve worked in domiciliary care for three years, I’ve never been asked for my vaccination record. Hi. I was just wondering if you took the jab, fell ill from taking it and subsequently had to take lots of time off or worse.. would your employer be liable for damages, sick pay etc? I assume that if you're forced by your employer to take the jab then they'd be in the frame if something bad happened to you. " But you are forced. " ![]() ![]()

Read an interesting piece from Pinsent Mason this morning, plus there's plenty more information out there, that employment restrictions caused by "not wanting " the vaccine wouldn't be classed as discrimination. " Right, I'll explain again, vaccines work best if a high majority of the population has them, this protects those vulnerable people that cannot have vaccines for medical reasons. No vaccine is 100% effective at stopping all effects of the illness but they drastically reduce your likelihood of getting symptoms, severe illness or dying. We get vaccinated so as a group we are giving EVERYONE the greatest chance of not suffering ill effects from diseases. Those of you that continue to harp on about your right to choose, those residents in the care homes have the right to choose to receive care from someone who has taken the greatest effort to protect not only themselves, but also the residents they care for.

You have every right to refuse the job if you feel uncomfortable having it... C19 will be the same. I guess if flights, events etc also require it... you’ll have the choice of not attending or flying too. Pretty simple, you have all the free choice you want.

If you have such a facial disfigurement, wearing a mask is impossible. 3. If wearing a mask causes such anxiety, that you may harm yourself or another. Cut to the chase here, 1 and 2 would be rare, 3 if you're that highly strung you should be seeking medical help and refrain from going anywhere that requires a mask. Simples! Highly strung!!!! And also maybe look at the real guidelines for face covering exemption. ![]() Everyone knows kids don't have to wear masks, so no point in stating it. " Anyone damaged by the vaccine would be covered by the Vaccine Damage scheme in the same way anyone damaged by any other vaccine. That's limited to £120k is it not and I believe the Covid vaccine companies have been indemnified against any legal action resulting from their vaccines. The Independent has a very good article on this dated 02.12.20. Whilst life changing and debilitating side effects may be rare, they are appearing and those suffering from them are precluded from seeking higher damages to cover such things as loss of earnings, ongoing care costs etc. " The same applies to almost any vaccine you get in the UK. You claim from the Vaccine injury scheme not the company. It is standard for your childhood vaccines and holiday vaccines covid vaccine is no different.

"THE VACCINE DOESNT STOP YOU FROM CATCHING CORONAVIRUS SO WHATS THE POINT IN TAKING A JAB THAT MIGHT HARM YOU ![]() The vaccines "Greatly Reduce" your chances of being infected, they also "Greatly Reduce" your ability to infect others if you are infected (which is less likely). Then obviously if you are infected, they make you more able to deal with the virus so you will be considerably less likely to get seriously ill and need hospital assistance.

"So In England alone there have been over 220,000 adverse reactions to the jabs and over 1300 deaths . And it appears these figures are not the true reflection ... possibly only 10 percent are being reported .... " These figures are rather misleading without context though. Firstly it is worth baring in mind that 99% of the adverse reactions recorded are "Flu Like Symptoms". Secondly, it is true that only a fraction of reaction of side effects will be reported, the bulk of the under reporting will be on MINOR reactions. The greater the impact of any side effect, the greater the likelihood that it will be reported. So any deaths WILL be recorded. And finally, the number (1300) of deaths out of a sample size of 42,000,000 (aprox number who have had one or more jabs) is actually far below the background death rate. There must be an awareness of the quantity of people who would die anyway, especially amongst the elderly & vulnerable. Approximately 600,000 people die in The UK every year of all causes (about 1600 every day). Cal

To be fair, although they make a lot of noise, within the UK the number refusing a jab is very small (around 10%) so the herd immunity effect will prevail. I personally have no issue with anyone choosing to not be vaccinated, it is VERY IMPORTANT that people are allowed to choose. I just have an issue with those who actively discourage others... mainly by spreading lies, misappropriated science and out of context figures. Cal" ![]()

" Hi. I was just wondering if you took the jab, fell ill from taking it and subsequently had to take lots of time off or worse.. would your employer be liable for damages, sick pay etc? I assume that if you're forced by your employer to take the jab then they'd be in the frame if something bad happened to you. It being a requirement for a job isn’t the same as being forced to take it. They are changing the conditions. It wasn't a condition of employment but now is going to be. I can see massive court cases for anyone getting sacked because they cannot have the vaccination. It's discrimination in the first degree There's a huge difference between now being able to have it and choosing not to have it. Jobs change conditions all the time, they can write up a new contract, if you don't sign it, that's your choice, no more job. On this, there's no option. Just to let you know that I have had the vaccine but I work with a woman that's done 30+ years and she cannot have any type of injection because her health. So because she will be very poorly or probably anaphylaxis, she gets sacked, She would be covered by the health exemption clause. Same as anyone who genuinely can’t have the Hep B vaccine for medical reasons. If her health is that fragile she genuinely can’t have *any* injections ever then it’s in her best interests that the vast majority of her colleagues vaccinated given the increasing evidence that those vaccinated spread the virus less than those unvaccinated. " There are no exceptions listed at the moment

It wasn't a condition of employment but now is going to be. I can see massive court cases for anyone getting sacked because they cannot have the vaccination. It's discrimination in the first degree Lots of job roles change that conditions and requirements I've had contracts changed after being in a job for 3 years. Lots take industrial action like British Gas. So that's ok then? Was your change life threatening? Put some care staff out of work will change their lives unbelievably What about the residents of the care homes? Don't they deserve to be protected as much as possible? Well according to most on here, they say that the vaccine protects the person who is injected or is that not the case? So does the vaccine not help the residents, the elderly in the care homes? Right, I'll explain again, vaccines work best if a high majority of the population has them, this protects those vulnerable people that cannot have vaccines for medical reasons. " They or their family have a right to choose a different care home. If they're protected by the vaccine then why would it matter if others aren't. You do realise that the vaccine isn't compulsory or mandatory for residents, don't you?

"Sometimes, individual’s rights have to be curtailed for the common good. My parents generation understood that war meant pots, pans, iron railings needed to be turned into tanks etc. Food was rationed so all could get some nutrition. Water was restricted to 5” depth in a bath. Keeping our lights out so the enemy had trouble bombing us. This virus is the enemy of ALL humans regardless of creed, country, ethnicity. It is passed from human to human and is very clever at mutating. We all therefore have to accept some curtailing of our freedoms to fight this common cause. Let’s think of our families, friends and neighbours before we think of ourself and my rights. There is such a thing as society. " Well I don't know about clever. All viruses mutate as do colds and flu. Doesn't make them clever. So, ok, we lose the right to say no to the vaccine. What's next? The right to own a home, a business, a car. Once you take any rights away then you're accepting that any rights can be taken away. All rights to discrimination of any type. Think about your rights you've got now. OK, you may not be affected by this particular legislation as I'm not but you have certain rights which no doubt you'd like to keep but any of your rights are at threat once you start taking any rights away

" People who can have a vaccine but choose not to are extremely selfish and it is a good thing that their freedom to do anything they choose is starting to be eroded, as per the original post. As with any medicine there is a small risk of complications but it is very important for the greater good that as many people as possible are vaccinated. This protects not only those who are vaccinated but also those who can't have a vaccine, and those for whom the vaccine is less effective than it should be." I would personally love to see everyone who CAN be vaccinated, but removing the right to choose is the start of a slippery slope. It is a shame that many of those who are choosing not to be vaccinated have made their choice because they believe the "misinformation" propagated by the antivax movement, but enforced vaccinations would become the self fulfilling "state control" prophecy. "Good. Vaccines are already compulsory in care homes. Before I even started in care, I had to provide my vaccination record and have a hep B jab because I didn't have one. Covid jabs should be no different. Think you may find your employer will say it's not them forcing you, it's the government forcing them. I’ve worked in domiciliary care for three years, I’ve never been asked for my vaccination record. Hi. I was just wondering if you took the jab, fell ill from taking it and subsequently had to take lots of time off or worse.. would your employer be liable for damages, sick pay etc? I think people whose lifestyle choices have made them more susceptible to developing serious or fatal conditions as a result of covid are selfish! Fancy being so selfish they smoked, damaging their lungs making them more vulnerable to respiratory illnesses. Or needing to be treated for lung cancer making them more vulnerable to covid! Or all those obese people who don’t exercise or made bad dietary choices resulting in a wide range of different health problems - heart disease, diabetes, asthma etc etc - making them more vulnerable to covid! I mean how selfish to have chosen to live their lives in such a way as they have now caused untold strain on the NHS! How selfish to have taken up all those ICU beds and caused so many other essential operations and treatments to have been postponed! Going forward we should mandate how people treat their bodies. We should remove healthcare or right to work if they smoke or if their BMI goes into the obese (or maybe just overweight) category. What do you think? Sound good? FOR AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT - I am not really advocating any such thing, I am merely pointing out the absurdity of calling people selfish for having the audacity to exercise their right to decide what happens to their body. This is not support for anti-vax rhetoric but it is a counterpoint to dangerous groupthink.
