I'm not seer or oracle, but, isn't 19 July when most schools have started their holidays?
6 weeks then to let a new variant arrive, take hold and spread. Because the data, the statistics are always behind the happening.
I predict a summer free for all, in the UK. International travel will be heavily restricted unless you're rich enough to be able to afford to visit the "expensive to get to" places. ie, forget Majorca or Calais.
The rate of infections, rate of hospitalisations will of course increase.
The fourth wave will begin in September.
So, yeah, that's another Christmas fucked.

It'll only take hold and spread if people spread it...regardless of the rules it's in our hands. |

This is what I predict.
A new variant from [insert country name here] will emerge but our Govt won’t close the border to flights from that country for at least 3-6 weeks in which time it will have taken hold in UK.
The [insert country name here] variant will be declared more dangerous and more easily spread particularly in those groups not yet vaccinated, or more importantly with low take up.
Everyone will point finger of blame at the public and forget the Govt didn’t close border to that country. |

We don't need to import variants we are more than capable of mutating it here, as we did which resulted in our second wave |

How much more bullshit are people going to lap from these doom merchants ?
Every new variant has been worse than the previous, yet no viable data to substantiate it.
The govt and SAGE are not comparing apples with apples, they're extracting figures without giving context, weaponising them, and giving it to Boris to fire off.
Today's update held no remnant of belief in what he read out. The amount of "sorry's" dished out like fucking confetti was pitiful and vulgar.
The words cautious and irreversible have become meaningless to the vast majority now. The boy cried wolf once too often.

A bit like Boris saying he'd be dead in a ditch if Brexit wasn't done by October 2019?
Believing politicians is difficult at the best of times. |

"So... you are saying that you forsee unforeseeable new variants? "
Yes. As argumentative as you might like to be,Yes. Oh, and no, no matter how much you might have a business plan, no I won't work for you.
Hope that helps. |

"Yes. If vaccine uptake is high enough, and it looks promising at the moment, we shouldn't have too many issues."
Assuming we get the boosters in (first rounds in sept) and we don’t encounter an unforeseen variant with resistance to the vaccines we’ve been given.
This is going to take a while to get “back to normal” because the whole of humanity is involved. |

I'm more optimistic than that. Effectiveness of vaccines has largely been based on B cell immunity - I don't have my head around it well enough to explain what I heard, but I think I kind of get it myself* - but I'm getting the impression that T cell immunity will save us re vaccines.
* Remembering I'm not any sort of scientist. Also immunology is hard |

"
Same here in France, we’ve had curfew since last October but it’s all going to disappear on 1st July when the school break up and holiday season starts.
They’d be another French Revolution otherwise. |

No disrespect to posters on here but they are as stupid as Boris with the ‘it’s in our own hands’ bollox !
The Indians variant was allowed to come into to our country because we have an Asian population that have been flying backwards and forwards to the Indian sub-continent throughout this pandemic.
I haven’t checked this week, but as of last week we still had 5 flights a day coming into Heathrow airport from India.
People might be quarantined off those flights, but they still mix in the arrivals halls, what about the flight crew, do they never leave the plane and mix before a return flight ?
I’m not sure it can be ‘in my own hands’ if the dominant variant in this country has been allowed in by our piss poor, afraid of offending different cultures border policies ! |

It's great news that all adults will have been offered the vaccines by the end of the week . Children do suffer from Long Covid and are a potential source of infection for adults but if all adults able to get vaccinated actually did so, the UK should be able to retain a manageable, low death rate from this, which won't impact on the NHS too much and allow it to continue catching up with treatment for other health issues.
It's probably a given that we'll be restricted from much international travel but that flights will continue from places with new risky variants for way too long. |

The accumulating impact and environmental cost of climate change is clear to see, warmer every year and in isolation a 50% increase in annual uk rainfall since 1990.
This is slowly coming home to roost and will make covid look insignificant by comparison. |
