Indian variant maybe....and its been so obvious it was coming but the blame lies squarely at the publics feet. Totally ignoring common sense and a total lack of respect for themselves and everyone else.

It isn't surprising regardless of data, the scientific advisors have never seemed keen or optimistic about it.

I must have missed the overwhelming majority who have followed the ,often contradictory advice, and followed all the rules for the last 15 months.

Still its nice to know the people running the show bear no responsibility.

Almost like we were primed for this by the media. When they start chittering about delays a couple of weeks back....you could almost bet your last penny on a holding back of the old normal. Week 2000 of 2 weeks to flatten the curve eh?

In your bed

I'm still not sure they will delay the reopening.

They would need more than just higher infection rates.

High infections with low impacts on hospital and death rates would be a sticky line to hold.

When the serious infection rate is high then you can see the reason to delay.

But in my simple mind they are not high enough to justify further delay. But I guess you pays your money and takes your chance.

I'm still going with no delay but they will ask people to keep wearing masks in closed environments until vacinnations hit x%.

More of a stay safe message.

I think sadly we are starting to see increased admissions yet again (albeit a smaller percentage), the real concern though is the fact they are mainly concentrated in the NW currently and as we’ve seen before this means the Midlands, London etc will follow suit in coming weeks.

The biggest issue currently is the infection rate tragectory, it puts 5k infections a day to 15k within about a week. That is quite scary when you consider it’s quite localised.

I wish I shared ypur same thoughts

Yes as cases are rising

Hospitisations are.low according to statistics

We should all just learn to live with this and do what we feel fir to protect ourselves and those around us.. a bit of h and s so to say

I watched a clip from common and they say this won't go away until everyone in world is vaccinated

So it's never gonna go os it

Another interesting piece I watched was Boris been questioned about closing our borders and why he didn't

His answer was UK relies heavily on imports of food and medicines from Europe so we can't close our borders

Unlike other countries did

Would that be the same Europe that Johnson has spent five years telling everyone that we didn't need?

Also, I'm sure it would not be beyond the wit of man (though it seems it is beyond the wit of the government) to allow movement of essential supplies across the UK borders, without allowing the movement of hundreds of thousands of people for non-essential reasons?

It's an experimental drug that can only be used in an emergency....hence why lockdowns and restrictions will never end, as if they do then there is no longer an emergency which means no more testing experimental drugs on the population.

"It's an experimental drug that can only be used in an emergency....hence why lockdowns and restrictions will never end, as if they do then there is no longer an emergency which means no more testing experimental drugs on the population."

The data clearly shows that the cases are ramping up in the unvaccinated group. These in turn spread to those in the vaccinated group that for whom the vaccine is not effective.

In total, 711k people in the 20-29 age group have had covid compared to 580k in the 50-59 age group. So, about 20% more.

In the last week 13,658 20-29 yr olds tested positive compared to 3032 in the 50-59 age group. That's more than 400% of the number. The 50-59 age group are well into their 2nd doses now.

So, the 'experimental drug' is working and if the 'experiment' fails and we are in further lockdowns and restrictions we know why...

The UK has recorded fewer Covid deaths in the past 60 days than just one single day of cancer and heart related deaths.

The blame only partly lies with the public and even then only a subset of the public as many continue to use common sense.

However, a huge part if the blame lay with the Govt for delaying adding India to the red list for weeks. India should have been added same time as Pakistan. Total negligence.

We have just returned from the lakes and I'd say that at least 80% of 30 - 50 year old were not following social distancing, guidelines and wearing masks where they should, pubs, restaurants shops and public toilets.

So I would say if this is indicative accross NW then it is no surprise that the infection rates are so high. But this is of course the fault of the government

I gave an age range cos it seems the youngsters are actually being the responsible ones.

No surprise that the above age range make up the majority of hospital admissions.

Im not suggesting we have it bad and my understanding of the delta variant is that it isnt about deaths its about lots more people testing positive for covid and passing it on to others.

So when some rules arent relaxed what about the knock on effect to pubs clubs theaters resaturants ect who have all been gearing towards the 21st buying stock and getting staff.

Once you let Governments take away your freedom they are really reluctant to give you it back and we believe that’s what is happening right now , just 20 more years then things will be just great just hang on

You are being terrorised by government propaganda.

It’s safe now and vital we get back to normal for our mental, physical & economic health.

I am immunosupressed and despite having both vaccine jabs still am at high risk.. Am I part of the problem for wanting to keep safe for the sake of my kids..

Mental health has suffered, physical health has suffered but I would rather listen to the science than people claiming this is all being done by Government to control us... No one blaming the original outbreak for this anymore. Seem to forget where or how it came about.. Those refusing to wear masks are the proble.. those refusing to adhere to scientific facts are the problem."

You stay inside then & follow guidance.

60 odd million others get back to normal.

I agree with you. The worst thing the government done was say yea its ok, do what you like. We drop everything age you don't need to care any more. They're effectively the message the public have been giving and there are too many idiots in this country that believe it.

Why on earth have we got Indian variant if India was on the list.v whom is policing the borders. Who is traveling to India. Why have they quaranteed. The government have school yet another own goal. When will they learn. We need to slow down and be careful. Peoples lives are at risk. But again purple are the fault. I encourage every one who sees people being a idiot to mention there activate. The more people are shamed, maybe the message will sink in.

I treat everyone has got it and I be dammed if I am doing another stint in hospital. Considering I had a brain tumor and I'm shunt dependent. Peoples actions and lack of respect enrage me

There was an interesting article last year talking about how the government has positioned us as consumers in this, rather than citizens. In public health it matters very much

Selfish prick. You can still give distance and be respectful top others.

I classify anyone who doesn't is indirect attack. You may not see it like that. But duke of us do.

The problem is I'm the type of person who will retalatw back. Which I can sure you isn't going to be good for both parties. That's food for thought. Because I'm not only person like that.

I’ve been super careful and compliant but don’t particularly agree that an extension will prove to be beneficial. - I will obviously, respectfully and happily continue with my civil duty of care towards myself and others.

My grumbles are most definitely with all those absolute twonks who can’t/won’t keep themselves distanced and/or hygienic for the sake of others much less with those “conscientious objectors” who’s moronic “logic” of ‘help out by spreading it about’ whilst bemoaning any lockdown is why we still find ourselves here.

We all go back to normal apart from a couple of things.

Social distancing should be kept or limited. Face mask did be warn still. The storm is not over and will see another wave mark my words because of the haste of government who has been pressurized by the media whipibg it up with the public.

I can't believe we have so many selfish and ignorant people in this country. People will only learn after its to late. I'm sorry to say this. That means it has to happen top one of there family members.

The streets should have been patrolled with people fining people not wearing masks.

I'm not to signing having a round I think that people are self-centred selfish and inconsiderate we started off so well when this pandemic began and now now since Dominic Cummings done what he done everyone thinks it's ok to do what they like and the variants of spreading Union variant is more transmissible and not everyone's going to be protected and that's just selfish and youngsters are getting it. Been today health is well and if we don't have that we don't have nothing. And if no one else can see it any other way but financially it's beneficial that we all keep a Distance because if we know ones in hospital and will not paying out for Life saving treatment and drugs and anything else it's going to cost the economy a lot less which means less taxes

When the 21st June was touted as the end of restrictions this date was based on a number of forecasts and predictions. It was never based on zero Covid.

So as we approach the date: vaccine take up has exceeded all expectations; current cases are significantly less than the best case model; ditto deaths. If it was ever about data not dates there is absolutely no reason to delay…

The one big problem with the whole " Eye for a Eye " ethos is everyone will eventually end up ..Blind and using the Bible as basis to start or enforce a viewpoint is doomed to failure as quite happily contradicts itself ??

So the government is not to blame in any way shape or form. Unbelievable.

And for me this is one of the major problems with society today. People not owning up when they make a mistake. They always try to blame someone else and pass the buck or make some feeble excuse. We all make mistakes so why cant people just own it instead of making excuses. I have much more respect for someone who does admit to something and apologises rather than trying to blame others.

You lot are idiots. Its Actual quote t got from google. Which has taken a passage from the bible.

Where you think that applies to denim jeans is completely ridiculous.

I propose that your ignorance and naivety about the existence of a virus are the ones who are actually helping to spread it.

Really people like this deserve a Russian Roulette approach has punishment.

Whereby they are forced to take an injection where they do not know if they're being injected with the virus

"Well.. it’s not like we did not see it coming.. but rather than brief to press pals… I’d rather just told us

You could tell it was coming in the language the politicians have been using "

It was actually predictable from when they put the exit plan together back in March. Because the vaccination program and the release dates for the younger more mobile of our society were months apart. The plan was to encourage mixing of the younger more mobile age groups for 2 months before even offering them a jab. Add the weeks it takes for the vaccine to be effective. Add 8 to 12 weeks for the second jab and the weeks it takes for that to be effective. We aren't jabbing people fast enough to hit the dates for the summer. If the vaccine is the solution as we are being told... Then we néed to line up the release dates with the dates that demographic is expected to be jabbed. Let's hope this amazing weather continues to allow us to live outdoors more until the vaccine program catches up. We are also going to miss the Jul date for all adults being jabbed if we keep going at our current daily rates (170k a day in June) and it needs to be 260k a day.

High community infection rates is surely not a desirable outcome.

Yes, it was all rather optimistic back then, with a side of "does it actually matter if the under 50s get it?"

Uh yeah it does, thank you

"...

I was in the NW last week and I was surprised how many 20 - 40 year olds weren't wearing masks in shops. "

I live in the South East and round here huge numbers have been going into

shops without masks for over a year.

Muggins wears his and feels sensorily impaired by it in a number of ways. The rest do as they please thanks to whatever 'exemption' they have.

"Prehaps if India had been put on the red list sooner things here may not be so bad.

Yet another government cock up that we all have to pay for.

The UK has recorded fewer Covid deaths in the past 60 days than just one single day of cancer and heart related deaths.

A bit of perspective before suggesting we “have it so bad”.
