As with every other health situation the north has been historically poorer than the rest of the U.K.
I'd suggest that higher rates of deprivation is the root problem. |

Lots of selfish people refusing the vaccine.
Lots of people living in poor and overcrowded housing.
Lots of people who can't work from home.
Lots of people ignoring the rules.

Health and other inequalities aren't a great foundation, when you're more towards the end of the spectra that have you towards the bottom.
And we didn't take the clear and appropriate steps at the right time, that would have put people as the priority. We failed to restrict travellers from India, when we knew there was a massive problem there and risk to ourselves. Sometimes the common sense answers and solutions are right. |

1. Population density

That's not non adherence, that's disadvantage.
Non adherence you'll find in places like where I live, like leafy south Manchester - because it doesn't hurt people like "us", and hugs and dinner parties are nice |

As the op posted. The North West has been pretty much in the worst aftected areas since day 1... But apparently we are completely incapable of doing anything about it. Avoidable problems are the worst kind. It's not like this is the first month of this and its all new to us. We know how it is transmitted, we know we have 3 ways out of it.... Vaccinate, behaviour changes, or do nothing.
Plus for weeks now we've been hearing words about a surge in vaccinating the young.. Or a surge in getting more vaccinated. Just take a look at the daily totals vaccinated. |
