There's a bit on BBC about longcovid. It seems in amongst our usual back and forward about freedom day or freedom delay... The long covid is not getting a lot of attention...
Not suggesting it stops or starts anything. Just that it should not be if ignored. And in particular now infections are taking off again.
"An estimated one million people in private households in the UK reported experiencing "long Covid" in the four weeks to 2 May, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Of these people, an estimated 869,000 first had Covid-19 - or suspected they had Covid-19 - at least 12 weeks previously while 376,000 first had the virus or suspected they had the virus at least one year ago.
Long Covid was estimated to be adversely affecting the day-to-day activities of 650,000 people, with 192,000 reporting that their ability to undertake day-to-day activities had been limited a lot.
Fatigue was the most common symptom reported as part of individuals' experience of long Covid (547,000 people), followed by shortness of breath (405,000), muscle ache (313,000), and difficulty concentrating (285,000)." |

I saw this somewhere else. Everyone quoting survival rates.... But at what cost do we accept that survival? People have renal failure, lost fingers and toes, long term lung conditions from scarring, permanent loss of smell and taste and so much more.
Ongoing effects from covid have attributed to some people taking their life. Not just physical side effects either but loss of income due to losing jobs etc.
Yes it is amazing that they survived, as in didn't die, but their life is far from unaffected. |

Yes. Survival isn't everything.
And people also talk about the cost of economic recovery. How much more will that cost if people are left unable to work to their full potential? |

For personal reasons I'd like to understand what if any effects it has on mental and cognitive and emotional capacities.... It seems to do some very weird things to people. |

My friend caught covid last March through her work as a key worker she has long covid she has gone from being a fit and healthy woman to being registered as disabled she’s been told she will never work again due to all her symptoms I find it heartbreaking that I can’t help her. She moved to Wales so she had activities she loved doing on her doorstep now she can only dream one day maybe she will do them again. |

That is desperately sad and tragic.
The long term effects on covid survivors who suffered greatly (and continue to suffer) are barely understood, but slowly coming to light.
I just know such folks are going to have a massive struggle with organisations like the DWP and getting PIP/ESA. Tell your friend about Fightback4Justice who advocate for disabled people and help them with their forms for submission to the DWP.
Help is out there. |

It's totally fucked me up .(Mr) I get very breathless, deep fatigue to the point of exhaustion, brain fog, loss of stamina and strength.
Panic attacks, insomnia the list goes on.
It's like constantly having a mild flu with asthma.
I had it last October very badly but thankfully avoided hospital god knows how am starting to think that if I had been on oxygen it may be the long term effects wouldn't be so bad. But I'm just guessing.
It's massively effected my work to the point that I may have to consider finding a different career. |

Thank you xx I speak to her daily, kind of a check in as I know she has become so low with every day struggles just simple things like changing her bed , cooking or washing up but one of her biggest struggles is the DWP and because of where she lives there is no long covid clinics and they won’t see her at the England clinics as she’s just on the border but still classed as wales nhs . It all just makes her fight to stay alive that much harder trying to battle with health professionals and benefits just to survive . I admire her strength and blessed to have her as a friend . |

And all of this will be due to people's lifestyle choices not being able to develop a great circulation to provide a strong immune system most people don't even know what it takes to eat to produce a healthy immune system the body gets bombarded either from exhaustion and not eating the correct food and no exercises to help filter like a vehicle can't just run on oil a ignition or fuel it has a system generated same as the human body to be able to fire on all cylinders. |
