How do you think the worlds reaction to the COVID pandemic will be viewed by future generations?

Manchester (she/her)

Impossible to say at this point. Depends on what documentation is preserved and the stories we prioritise as we come out of this.

couple, us we him her.

I think they will say that we were caught with our pants down.

Totally unprepared and that the internet hampered the control of the virus by the spread of misinformation and fake news.

In the future god forbid that it happens again in my life, the information will be better regulated by the shutting down of social media platforms.

And stricter adhered protocol's that are defined on a global level maybe controlled by the UN rather than individual governments.

"How do you think the worlds reaction to the COVID pandemic will be viewed by future generations?"

How do current generations view The Plague or Spanish Flu?

I suspect that covid will soon be pretty much forgotten and life will return to "pre virus" normality.

"How do you think the worlds reaction to the COVID pandemic will be viewed by future generations?"

Very truthfully and very damming for some countries.

I think after today's news headlines, slightly more accusatory than a week ago

In 10 years it'll be a very different picture though and history should reflect the bigger picture not just the first year, I concur with the "caught with pants down" line though.

Probably look back at what an absolute shitshow the Westminster government made of the whole thing

"Probably look back at what an absolute shitshow the Westminster government made of the whole thing "

Difficult for government to get it right when a sector of society think it’s all a big over reaction to a mild “flu”.

It will be viewed as a world thing not a UK thing.

It is the recovery and how we deal with that internal history will focus on

Lots...and every one is a tragedy.

Make no mistake about that.

I hope that the government intervenes even more every time a virus shows up to cause the public some alarm. Also when global warming kicks into high gear...I hope the government intervenes and turns down the global thermostat to make the world a better place for everyone...because we need them to. It's the government's responsibility always.

Hopefully the advances made in genome sequencing and virus detection will continue to develop to deal with any future viral threats...just as physical weapons have been developed over the years..so anti virus weaponry will evolve to protect us ...the monetary and population fallout is still to be endured

Yes lots of people died due to the actions of its government only thinking about the economy Cummings admitted this statement and just like Matt Hancock had targets Boris announced that we'd have around 50k deaths without knowing what he or anyone else was dealing with so he reached double and most likely made a profit judging by the smirk on his face once the case has been concluded this will be everyone's view and remembered by

But c'mon! The government is there ONLY to protect the public. The smirking is certainly NOT duper's delight. It's there because he/they know they're doing an excellent job at protecting the public. Watch the news FFS....it's all there for you to see! We are the most protected public in history....FACT! Take your conspiracy theories elsewhere puleeeze!

Mixed responses, according to the country. The UK won't be too kindly viewed, due to the largely uninterested government in the plight of the vulnerable, elderly and majority of the population. Failure to plan, failure to respond quickly and thus causing tens of thousands of needless deaths, very poor communication with ambiguity which allowed the PMs assistant to travel hundreds of miles during the height of the pandemic and not apologies or take action - which trashed public confidence and trust, amongst the worst failings.

That regular pandemic rehearsals left them knocking they were unprepared but then still not taking appropriate action, will be viewed as the hallmark of incompetence and a callous disinterest in the wellbeing of the nation.

The UK doesn't get a glowing report. Neither will Trump America or Bolsonaro Brazil.

The subsequent years of vaccine distribution aren't known yet. There are likely to be predictable consequences for how the world is doing this.

Do you reckon that worldwide governments and the leaders perhaps considered their own regulations to be entirely arbitrary and unrealistic? Even they didn't believe in their course of action. It's almost as if there were rules for the public and an entirely different set of rules for the government folks

when you say Internet fake news i take it your happy just hearing the government account, and no debate or checks to make sure they're telling the truth. So the same as this time but with more government control over any debate, just checking your happy with one sided government only view.

It'll all come out in the end I don't need to knock myself because I was expecting an enquiry long ago whilst the deaths were increasing their wasn't a tackle move made by the government to avoid deaths and took the opportunity to avoid having to pay the pension by killing the elderly

Considering facts like:

1. Previous pandemics in history wiped out a considerable percentage of world's population as a whole.

2. There has been much more serious and deadly outbreaks of new viruses in recent history.

3. There is a pretty great chance of some new virus emerging some time in near future.

If we took all facts listed above - future generations will probably call us clowns who made the world stop over a slightly more active strain of a common cold.
