I believe if you are offered the vaccine and don’t take it you should be stopped from doing anything normal like going to the pub, cinema, gym, restaurant or even traveling. Because ultimately you fools who don’t have it will plunge everybody else back into another lockdown eventually!

And how do you suggest this is policed?

If they took your (ridiculous) suggestion on board how would you implement it?

Also, how would you deal with people who can’t ever have the vaccine for medical reasons?

And how would you deal with people who can’t have the vaccine straight away when offered? For example my first one was delayed as I was unwell. So, how would that be dealt with in your world of compulsion?

I see people saying this kind of thing a lot, but there’s never any logic behind implementation so it’ll be interesting to hear your plan....

Should the staff in the cinema know my medical history?

Should my civil liberties be inpinged if I follow the advice of socially distancing, washing hands and wearing a mask (all of which are lauded to prevent the spread of the virus) but haven't had the vaccine?

Should I also take prep to avoid the risk of HIV even though I use condoms and only play with women so are at less of a risk, but the risk is still there?

I may as well sell my motorbike as the risk of me being a burden to the NHS is higher than if I only used public transport.

My point is, we will eventually have another wave then just again last the last horrific year we had last year. we will all be stuck at home once again without being able to see friends or family. I’ve lost more friends to suicide this year than I have covid.

All for the sake of some idiotic conspiracy theorists..

Some people are asking how would you police it, a app or a Certificate? stamp in your passport??

I think it’s important for people to remember covid is not going away, the likely hood is that covid will be around for the rest of our lives.

People who have been vaccinated are still protected and only by a percentage but less likely to die whereas those who aren't are at a greater Risk, everyone's immune system is different some able to produce antibodies and this is based on lifestyle, so I wouldn't agree.

Their is no evidence to say covid19 isn't going away just like it appeared no body is able to answer this until it happens it's a period in life that has unexpectedly happening which we are dealing with at it's best to control taking in account number of deaths which are less in other countries.

So to prevent suicide your suggestion is that people have the freedoms limited?

You do realise that people with severe depression often end up disengaged from medical services so a good number of the people at risk of suicide would also be the people who’ll miss appointments? How is isolating them further a solution?

An app, a certificate or a stamp in the passport - which will it be? Bearing in mind an app and a passport stamp both require the holder to have an expensive phone or passport so certificate then? Issued by who? And again - how will you deal with the people who cannot be vaccinated long or short term?

There appears to be misunderstanding on both sides of the vaccine/no-vaccine divide.

There is a responsibility for everyone to be aware of exactly what is true and what is false.

The freedom question is an interesting one, particularly in light of the last year.

Calls for lockdown to end included "if you're afraid of dying, you should stay at home". So... House arrest or risk of death.

It seems to me that freedom is not "restrict the unvaccinated" or "don't restrict the unvaccinated". It's "risk those who remain vulnerable" or "reduce their risk".

What have the medically vulnerable done to deserve a life of risking death or remaining under house arrest?

People have a right to say no if they want to .So no I don't agree at all .And the vaccines help prevent spread and catching covid so if it all works like it should and the majority are vaccinated there should be no need to .

Plus ostracizing people because they choose not to have the vaccine is ridiculous.

And yes I've had both of mine months ago but it doesn't stop me believing people have every right to say no if they want to regardless of what I think and my views on the vaccine.

I think it's wise to use effective approaches with our ongoing management of the infection levels, as shrinking numbers will give us the best potential for next winter.

Other countries, including Israel, have used vaccination status and rapid tests to filter entry into places. We've discussed it and it would potentially be a useful tool to help everyone and the economy to become stronger. Ideally optional and not a legally forced process.

A lot of people want to pretend it's all over now and infections don't really matter. Any 1 single infection could be a mutation that becomes the game changer, that wipes us out. If they are avoidable, it's silly not to take simple steps.

It’s not astounding that people keep going on about it because people like yourself never have a decent plan for those who cannot be vaccinated.

Who gets to decide who is exempt? For example my two consultants had different opinions on if I should have it...

Even your certificate plan assumes that everyone has both an email address and a doctor. So what about the large number of people who don’t have either? Particularly important when you consider that many of them will be in at risk groups such as those disengaged from medical services or the homeless.

Pointing out the obvious flaws in your plan doesn’t make someone a conspiracy nut, it means there are clear and obvious flaws in your plan.

We won’t have another lockdown, at least not because of the current variants for which the current vaccines are largely effective. People will continue to die due to Covid but another wave will not threaten to overwhelm the NHS. I would rather people get vaccinated but I do believe it should be a free choice.

The flaws in the OPs suggestion are that it will disadvantage the people he claims he wants to help - the isolated and vulnerable because they are the ones most likely to be even more isolated by it.

Maybe people who can not have the vaccine could be given the same thing but instead of it saying vaccinated, it should say exempt. I generally find it quite Astounding that you keep going on about people who can not be vaccinated in the short term or long, because at the end of the day that’s Exactly the people we should trying to protect from idiotic Conspiracy theorists/idiots who have nothing wrong with and point blank refuse to have it. Your be eating your words when we go into another lockdown!

I'm not, at present, arguing for or against - but vaccine mandates have existed in other countries for years. This isn't trying to invent a flying car. It's New Car Brand adapting from Ford.

Vaccine mandate happens here. I couldn’t have my career without a Hep vaccine. I had a choice - have it or get a different career.

The flaws in the OPs suggestion are that it will disadvantage the people he claims he wants to help - the isolated and vulnerable because they are the ones most likely to be even more isolated by it.

How so?

The isolated and vulnerable who aren't protected by vaccines would be afforded far more freedom."

How would they?

Take the homeless for example. They’re more isolated and vulnerable than the general population.

However they’re also far less likely to be able to access a vaccine passport on account of not having easy access to mobile phones, internet or a passport.

They’re also far less likely to have easy access to regular medical care so accessing both the vaccine and an exemption would be more difficult than for the general population.

Being deprived access to services would make them more isolated, not less.

Same with anyone disengaged or disorganised through any other health condition like severe depression.

The OP is assuming that people fall into two easy categories - those who chose to get vaccinated (or can easily prove exemption) and those who choose not to be vaccinated. It’s nowhere near as simple as that.

"My point is, we will eventually have another wave then just again last the last horrific year we had last year. we will all be stuck at home once again without being able to see friends or family.

Fair.

My bias is towards the isolated elderly, because I do work with them. The elderly are less likely to mount an immune response to vaccines even if they have them, are much more likely to die, and some in my care have left home less than ten times since March last year, including doctor's appointments. Getting them out safely - or, having them feel safe, because the work I do is as safe as is possible at the moment and I'm in a suppressed area - is weighing heavily on my mind.

I find the idea that any "passport" would be attached to a smart phone or paid for difficult to stomach, but I can see that it might happen, and it'd be a massive inclusion problem.

Expressing frustration with the unvaccinated and wanting us to be safe is entirely the same as rounding up a race of people, experimenting on them, then executing millions of them.

Why would you trust an alledged vaccine that is experimental and has had no long term safety effects analised, and has significant side effects for some people, including death? It is definitely not a fully effective safety tested vaccine.

I'm keeping my own personal beliefs out of this. But hypothetically what if conspiracy theories turned out to be true and the government were secret infecting people as a controlled form of population control with the vaccine? When it became known those who have had it would need to be quarantined so what would you do then? Punish those who you claim did the right thing?

The isolated elderly are just as likely to be victims of that sort of scheme as well.

So, the ones you work with would have assistance in registering and having both their vaccine and a vaccine passport, but what about the ones that haven’t got good support?

They’d be even more isolated than they already are.

And even the ones who have support would have a lottery - working in that field you must know that the quality of support they get varies from council to council and private provider to private provider.

The number of people refusing the vaccine is so small that it would be a hammer to crack a nut. And imo would lead to a false sense of security - we’ve already seen how many people think that being vaccinated means you can’t catch it.

If people believe they are only mixing with vaccinated people and that means they’ll be totally safe they’ll end up with a sense of complacency and that’s where problems will occur.

The evidence increasingly suggests that the vaccines work like the ones we have for measles or polio - in fact better than the ones for polio. Measles is 5-10x more transmissible than Covid - if the vaccines didn't stop it we'd be up shit creek. (they prevent illness not infection)

I think majority vaccinated is the best we as a society can do.

I agree there'd be equity problems and I'd want those addressed - the idea that the passport seems to be on a smartphone only troubles me.

But my question is, do I prioritise the vulnerable, or those who *choose* not to be vaccinated?

I prioritise the vulnerable.

I’m aware how they work. My point about complacency is that if people assume that being in a vaccine passport area means they are only mixing with vaccinated people they’ll have a false sense of security. Which for people like the elderly you mentioned isn’t wise.

The over simplification of who is and isn’t vulnerable (because there will be people who fall into both camps) is my objection. It’s not as black and white as the Op, and many people, seem to think it is and it’s extremely annoying when people are continually throwing out schemes that will actually have a negative impact on the people it’s purporting to protect (like the driving license suggestion - instantly excludes people who cannot afford to drive, with medical conditions that prevent driving, the homeless and vast numbers of the elderly - so a fair chunk of the vulnerable population).

People who have been vaccinated are still protected and only by a percentage but less likely to die whereas those who aren't are at a greater Risk, everyone's immune system is different some able to produce antibodies and this is based on lifestyle, so I wouldn't agree.

It's not all about you, its also to help the people who are not able to take the vaccine and to help stop new strains, it's called doing the right thing and not being a selfish little brat, but that's just the way of the world today and there has been a lot of young fit people who have died aswell "

We're these young people vaccinated that you speak of because looking at the stats it's helped cut down on deaths of those more at risk at a higher age group, and depending upon each person's immune system response to produce antibodies are able to act similar to the vaccine, it depends how well the body functions.

I'm not against the vaccine have been vaccinated and was unwell back in 2019 just before Christmas few months like I was dying unusually longer than I normally am Ill for any period.

The purpose of the vaccine is so you are easily managed via the care needed via hospital should a person be unwell their is data to show how each vaccine by percent protects a person but aren't people still carrying the virus vaccinated or not just the body is able to control it better.

Firstly and let's try and remember, trillions + of people have had covid 19, survived and had no ongoing issues with it.

I seriously don't think it wise to vaccinate whole populations with just 2 new vaccines. If 2 years ago I had told you we would lose 2020 to a virus, you would have laughed.

What's to say in 10 or 20 (or longer) years, another mutated virus comes along and negatively reacts with our vaccinated? What if in the future a different illness/variant, that only kills people, that had a specific vaccine, begins to circulate?

It has the potential to be much more devastating. Yes I opted to take the vaccine based on the best knowledge I have now.

We are fortunate to live in a country that gives you the freedom to chose.

That will repatriate you in emergencies and with a free to use NHS.

I think the Ops ideas are sound in principle.. Don't sound so horrified!

'taking away my civil liberties' yadda yadda

You know what.. Perhaps you should consider another perspective?

Yes.. Of course anyone has the right to refuse a vaccine! That's fair.. Now given we all make decisions based on different options then I would agree with the OP's way if thinking. I have taken the risk and had my jabs. So why should anyone else get the same freedoms as me now if they haven't done it?

If you aren't willing to do what it takes to get involved with the real world again then arguably you don't have the right to be able to enjoy the same freedoms as everyone else do you?

By all means defend your right to make a decision but don't expect to be given a free ride back into the world when you do.. And whilst people will respect your choice.. they don't have to be nice to you about it if they don't like it!

Consider a lot of people have risked their own personal health so we can get back to living again .People know there is a risk but still are willing to do it

That to me is quite unfair and a little bit selfish if everyone doesn't do the same maybe?

Think of it this way

Do you do expect to do a job you haven't studied and qualified for?

Do you enter a competition that you haven't competed for a place in first?

Do you expect to be allowed to visit a country and refuse to have inoculations before visiting ?

In all cases we get a situation where we realise that there is a price to pay if we continue with our own beliefs or ideas.

The answer in most cases is no.. You or I don't do . Isn't it? As a society we follow rules and do what's best for us all not just individuals.

So I regret to say that anyone currently making the decision not to get vaccinated is likely to suffer in some way in the very near future as far as the freedoms and liberties the rest of us have. Which is only fair isn't it?

Once the country is as vaccinated possible changes will come.. I can't say what yet but I think they will impact how we all work, enjoy ourselves and look after our health.. That has to happen and those who have used their right to refuse a vaccine may end up looking at an entirely different world one day as far as they are concerned .

Do you think I'm going to let any workmen into my home to do repairs unless they can prove they are vaccinated and recently tested ? Sit in a car with someone who hasn't got Covid free proof ? Get educated by someone who hasn't been jabbed and tested every day

Would yiu be happy to See a doctor or dentist who wasn't vaccinated or Covid tested ?

I personally will have a problem being in the the same building as anyone who won't take a test or prove they are Covid free. Already employers are carefully seeing if they can bring in rules about their staff being vaccinated or they don't work.. Simple as that .. Some companies are already writing it into their staff codes of conduct and procedures.. Because employees have a right to be protected from anyone who could potentially harm them.. An employer is obliged to make sure that doesn't happen

So I doubt if refusing to agree to vaccination will be something most people will be able to do and carry on as they do now.. And that's coming in the very near future I would say .

And to add to the stock argument

'medical reasons' are not going to be the same forever.. There will be a variation of the vaccine everyone can take one day soon.. So the point ( when it's made.. As it surely will be!) is moot!

Until then if people get tested until suitable vaccines found etc. That will work quite well I think.

"I think the Ops ideas are sound in principle..

Nope not mandatory.. Freedom of choice.. However like all choices one that results in consequences.. Typical style of government we have now.

It will be 'advisory'. However, no one will be allowed to complain when sanctions etc come into force..

Standard operating procedure at the moment for any government.

What would you suggest? A tattoo on the forehead? On the wrist? A pink star badge? An armband? Would you like the unvaccinated to walk around ringing a bell shouting un clean, un clean?

The Mrs has had both jabs.

The Mr has had his first with second due In 2 weeks.

But we are not stuck our own arse so much as to slag people off for refusing the vaccine.

It's called freedom of choice.

What you wrote had nothing to do with choice.

FFS been dragged into this cesspit of a forum section again.

We need to learn to stay away.

I think that's obvious..

Just off the top of my head

a limit on the amount of job roles someone can work in?

A limit on how people gain entry to events, pubs, clubs restaurants gyms etc.. Our current system will phase out when most of the country is vaccinated.

Problems receiving health or dental care as I doubt if all doctors and dentists will carry on without setting up procedures

and rules of one kind or another

And that's coming in the very near future I would say .

. The trolls out in force... At least I hope you're trollin

Just to be clear I am fairly sure at least some of my predictions will come into force..

Too many people will complain if not

I dont troll. Just because someone says something you do not agree with it doesnt make them a troll

I disagree with plenty of comments but you and the OP take the cake.

Because?

Im right? And that worries you?

Even if you look at it from a safeguarding standpoint.. Things are going to change.. They have to

No. They don't have to change. You're part of the problem, well done to you. I bet you're one of the woke folk right? "

If you cant argue a point without trying to be insulting stay out of the ring

I advise you to re read and understand what the words arguably, think, suggest ' etc mean in debate.. They are all arguable not factual.. Im stating a forecast scenario that I have some faith in

You on the other hand are firing insults and presenting no counter argument.

Lets start with' why ' you disagree? And the answer needs to be a but more than what is your right!

The floor is yours...

China went through SARS and didn't require mass changes of rules. Covid isn't serious enough for 99% of the population considering vaccinations and natural immunity. Enough discussion in sick of you, your disgusting profile pic and this conversation.

I think those simply believing stuff they read online are the minority. Most have just weighed it up based on their risks and issues such as there can’t be any longer term data on vaccine side effects yet.

You’re presuming that most who don’t want the vaccine are simply believing stuff online, whereas in reality there’s a number of reasons. So why do you think most are believing misinformation online? Because the media tell you this. So perhaps you should stop believing everything that’s online or in the media, and accept people have lots of different reasons for not wanting the vaccine, and they’re as valid as your reasons for having it.

Each to their own.

I'm guessing this is where we form an orderly queue all those vaccinated I'm guessing you won't be joining us lot then who have been vaccinated.

"Nope not mandatory.. Freedom of choice.. However like all choices one that results in consequences.. Typical style of government we have now.

It will be 'advisory'. However, no one will be allowed to complain when sanctions etc come into force..

Standard operating procedure at the moment for any government.

So what kind of consequences?

I think that's obvious..

Just off the top of my head

a limit on the amount of job roles someone can work in?

A limit on how people gain entry to events, pubs, clubs restaurants gyms etc.. Our current system will phase out when most of the country is vaccinated.

Problems receiving health or dental care as I doubt if all doctors and dentists will carry on without setting up procedures

and rules of one kind or another

Lol I don't think so

I cant see any reason why it wont happen..

I'm sure the Fuhrer said that as well "

Ok

So your argument is?

I mean without behaving like a child and insulting people.. Off you go?

Amused that so many in here continue to draw parallels with covid vaccination and nazi germany?

Either that or have regressed to their childhood.. Throwing insults in cyberspace because they either dint have the stones or mental capacity to argue back.. Or miss being able to punch someone and silence them

Do you not have a real opinion of your own? Given you are so passionate about your rights.. You might like to try and defend them a bit better frankly

Currently I am not at all convinced.

Must try harder

"I think the Ops ideas are sound in principle..

You sound nuts. How the hell are you going to go shopping? Ask everyone in the milk aisle to prove they’ve had the vaccine?

Stop insulting

Read what I wrote and please stop assuming .. They are ideas suggestions not facts..

Or is that just difficult to comprehend "

Lol I’ve not insulted you at all.

Genuine questions deserve genuine replies

Having been alone for just over 14 months now. I have not been out much and get shopping etc delivered . I have done about 20 mile in the car since Christmas. I work from home. I have had no need to go anywhere and have followed govt instructions to the letter since March 2020.. Like lots and lots of other people.

My returning to society will be a slow gradual and careful thing

I am hoping there will be sufficient processes in place to let me do so comfortably and without worry.. And if there isnt? I wont be until there is..

This is actually good advice.

From history we must learn.

The rules against the Jewish and bi/gay people (+ many other groups), did not happen over night.

They were slow and sly, populations (already anti Semitic) were subjected to propaganda and 'reactionary' changes. The attack on Poland was because German citizens were in Danger for example.

Or so the communities were told.

By the time kristal nacht happened, the population were already convinced it was for 'the greater good' they believed 'the jew deserved it' by clever, prolonged, propaganda.

The greater good only works for the select few that fall within the defined category.

Covid has also seen an unprecedented number of changes but reactionary and incremental changes. Making vaccines mandatory within these changes is not something I would support. It's something I would actually protest against.

Good news though, the results from the mask free event up here in Liverpool are genuinely great

"I believe if you are offered the vaccine and don’t take it you should be stopped from doing anything normal like going to the pub, cinema, gym, restaurant or even traveling. Because ultimately you fools who don’t have it will plunge everybody else back into another lockdown eventually!

Do you not think that people should be entitled to choose for themselves?

I personally think that everyone "should" choose to be vaccinated, but that the choice is VERY important.

Cal

I think the problem with this choice is that it affects other people and the people choosing not to have it are often misinformed and are basing their decisions on complete bullshit they read online.

Each to their own."

In fairness, most people who are resistant to getting vaccinated ARE swayed by incorrect information and ill advised risk analysis... but that doesn't and must never, diminish the right to choose.

I think a lot of people will change their minds and maybe a bit more support for something like the ops draconian system if we enter another lockdown and series of restrictions.

I can't see how we can have another wave if we have over 60 million vaccinations so far. What would be the point of it all if we just keep getting wave after wave.

I for one will have had enough.

Each to their own."

The media didn't tell me that people are basing their decisions on bullshit, you only have to read these forums to see it. The people themselves are telling me.

The human rights lawyers operating under the ECHR, where vaccine *mandates* are permitted?

They might be busy laughing people out of their offices...

"My point is, we will eventually have another wave then just again last the last horrific year we had last year. we will all be stuck at home once again without being able to see friends or family.

"

I’m sure we will have another wave, because we have a bunch of cunts of a government, probably some of the thickest individuals to walk this earth !

Throughout this pandemic we have allowed hundreds of thousands of people to fly in and out of this country with no borders locked down in reality.

For god sake we had representatives of the Indian government here a few weeks ago bringing the Indian variant with them !

Stupidity of the highest order !
