"Probably. The disease may cause serious harm, we know that. But simultaneously we're being told we're allowed to do a bunch of things but also don't or be careful. I think they're trying to shirk responsibility for whatever goes wrong, again. We told you it was safe and you listened to us. Look what you did! Bad public!" Almost like they are handing our health control back to us again and its your own fault that you caught it and have health problems from it I just hope that the NHS can smash through the operation waiting list before we find out if this variant is going to blaze through us

In the meantime I'm taking responsibility for my health - by ignoring the government and staying away from people.

"They unlocked too soon.. They didn't unlock soon enough.. The pandemic is all the British governments fault... Blah, blah, blah.. Moan, whinge , moan.... Ffs, really! If you cannot appreciate the Herculean task that this has been for our government, having to deal with the whims of all parties who shout loudly.. "We wont wear masks"... "we won't be locked down"... "the lockdown is crippling the pubs"... "small businesses will never survive".. "big businesses will never survive"... It doesn't matter what our government do, it will never be good enough for some.. We are all pissed off with the situation but unfortunately we do not live in a totalitarian state where we would be beaten for not obeying the rules, we still have our liberties.. But with liberty we get our personal freedom to do what we want within the limits of the restrictions, which in turn can cause the spread of the virus.. So what do you want? Freedom or total lock down? You really cannot have it both ways.. The government is not feeding us rubbish, they are offering complex information in a simplified form that the majority can understand, digest and make an informed decision from. You are responsible for your actions and if your actions leads to the spread or increase of the virus, don't blame the government for that.. its solely on you! They advise and offer us a solution in the form of inoculation and free and simple rapid tests. That is the way out of this, if you think you dont need the injection or cannot be arsed to do the tests regularly, it will take far longer for us to get out of this mess.. The responsibility is yours as is the consequence of your actions.. " I want the government to govern. It really isn't too much to ask. Signed, someone who's only just in the last few weeks taken herself off all but house arrest, was wearing masks before it was recommended, has volunteered throughout, is on a vaccine trial, and could not have done a damn thing more to not spread shit.

"I spend a bit of time analysing markets , gold, silver and more recently currency and crypto. Looking back over the last 2 years it’s very clear how different announcements affected these prices and I even used the end of lockdown to time transactions quite well with minimum knowledge , particularly retail and manufacturing and commodities like gold. Wouldn’t surprise me if certain announcements are being well timed and fed to main stream media with a certain message ( Indian variant panic, but no need for smart people to really panic) just like we saw the wealthy brexiteers betting against GBP" What you are describing, i do believe that people already make money by doing this.. Im not certain but im sure there is something in London called the stock exchange where many people take educated guesses at market repsonses to political and social event's.. I may be wrong, but i think other countries have these stock exchange thingies too... Call me cynical, but i don't believe that the sage advisors are particularly motivated by twisting events to make a few quid..

"If anything is herculean, its the efforts of the nhs,you know, those people who are in effect getting a pay cut, and not the charlatans who have lurched from 1 disaster to the next, and wasted/given millions to their chums." Many members of the NHS did a magnificent job but not ALL of the NHS should be given the credit and expect another pay rise due to the efforts of others.

" Read this the other day. I had to look it up , apparently Gas-lighting according to Psychology "is a form of manipulation and psychological control, where you are deliberately fed false information which leaves you to doubt your memory, perception and even sanity, and installs confusion, making it more difficult in time to see the truth". At the beginning of this we were told most people would ,if at all, suffer a minor illness from this and Ive just looked on the ONS site the average age of death "from covid " is 85 for women and 81 for men. There is no mention of covid infection immunity now at all, although millions have probably had it, and we are on the way to herd immunity. We are told today the Indian variant will be the dominant one in the uk by next week and spreads like wild-fire and the sinister Handcock smirked yesterday that they have plenty of vaccines for your children, yet pubs have opened up and the flights and holidays taking off, yet we are being primed for not going to the next stage of opening? What epidemics have come even close to this? Name me one in the last 50 years that's been even close? Bird flu, swine flu, sars and Mers? Oh no, theres a dead bird, better report it.. that was about the limit of bird flu, the others had very little impact.. An epidemic really doesn't take many people to catch a disease for it to be an epidemic.. food poisoning outbreaks can be classed as an epidemic.. Only asian flu had a significant impact with a death rate 3 times the normal average rate for flu, that was in the late 50's, im not sure any of our government were in a position of power or even born then so your statement that the UK are used to dealing with pandemics is utter rubbish. I am not making excuses for what the current government has done, however no government anywhere in the world has done much better, they have all encountered problems and pissed their citizens off which their actions. For what gain? The government wants this pandemic over as much as the rest of us, its costing billions to prop up the economy, pay for the vaccinations and all the testing.. They admit that they have made bad decisions, decisions based on the evidence in front of them and predictions on the future.. They are not mystic meg, they don't have a crystal ball so some decisions will be bad ones.. None of us can admit that we have never made mistakes when doing something for the first time, this pandemic is no exception.. No UK government has dealt with anything quite on this scale in living memory.. Just look at the cluster that other countries have made of their attempts at dealing with this virus and be thankful that our government had the foresight to purchase the vaccines before they were even produced, to invest heavily in our own vaccine and ramp up an infrastructure that we have never required before.. I believe that they don't want to take responsibility. Make hard decisions. Govern. They want power and glory, not responsibility. Make all the excuses you want for them, but they had the ability through resources, expertise, etc, to handle this much better. It's not like the handling of epidemics is a new science discovered last year. "You did your best, here's a participation trophy" just doesn't cut it for the leaders of a wealthy first world nation. I take responsibility. I don't want power or glory. I just want this over. I'm doing everything in my power. I signed up for the email list for vaccine trials last year. Theres no point focussing on what you feel are the mistakes while ignoring the major achievements. Take a step back, put aside your preconceptions and take a look at the big picture.. You may be surprised that they have done a half decent job, all things considered... " The word "quarantine" derives from the 1660s, where people who are infected were kept in isolation. Our knowledge of managing infectious disease goes back further than that. I don't give a monkey's what happened in the last 50 years - we have the knowledge. Books exist. Oh and by the way - SARS. I remember SARS. Could easily learn from that. So you think we've done a better job than Australia or New Zealand? My preconception is that prevention of death and disability is the most important thing, followed by education and then the economy. We could hardly have done worse. Pissing people off? Who cares? You wanna go holiday? Global disaster. Die mad about it, because I'd rather you not actually die. The government succeeded in their bets on vaccines. That's as much luck as anything else. I'm sorry I believe that the UK deserves leaders.

At last someone who understands the situation and is not lead by the media. Costa does that mean you or the poster you've quoted was responsible for not locking down early enough before the first wave.. Or the second wave after ignoring the scientific community.. Does that also mean I am responsible for ignoring the findings and recommendation of op Cygnus which left us short of vital PPE and having to pay over the odds sometimes to donors and sometimes for not fit for use? Who didn't stop flight sooner from India then? Can't possibly be those in government surely.. Did you go out and protest unnecessarily during a pandemic, putting our emergency services at additional and unnecessary risk? If you didn't, others did... Did the European and Asian countries who were hit with the virus before the UK (you must recall ignoring the scenes on the news of Italian hospitals crumbling in February last year) place huge orders for PPE which depleted the worlwide stockpiles, leaving the UK to beg, steal and borrow to try and get ppe.. any ppe as something surely is better than nothing.. Of course, they could of listened to the recommendations of an event 3 years previous but that would mean stockpiling millions of pieces of ppe which has a lifespan and may never be used, simply because of an unknown event that may never come.. Would you keep a million cans of beans in your cupboard in case of a meteor strike or volcanic erruption that causes a ice age.. It could happen but is extremely unlikely. And yes, they used known contacts to try to expedite the purchasing, companies already on the government suppliers lists rather than trying to set up agreements for purchasing which is a slow and lengthy process.. we are all guilty of doing the same in an emergency, we contact the tradesperson we know, not because he is the best but because we dealt with them before and trust they will do a good job.. Flights... how many people complained, whined and moaned when the government was giving 48 hours notice before putting countries on the red list, so they bow to public pressure and are a bit more lenient to allow British citizens to return home... and they are wrong for doing that.. Come on, get a dose of reality.. Consider the things that cause you problems and then try multiplying it to the scale to cope with that issue for en entire country.. No. I did not. And when I contracted suspected Covid I did not leave my house for two months. I have done more than my bit. When multiplying my problems to a national scale, am I also allowed the budget, intelligence, expertise, reach, etc of the national government? If so, yes, I could have done a better job. With both hands tied behind my back, on one leg, off my face, and on fire." Yeah im sure you could, keep dreaming
"Do you honestly believe the government, the UK government, along with every other government, throughout the known world,is deliberately hood winking us all? Really?" I believe they're shifting blame, but more "I did do my homework but the dog ate it" rather than anything more complex
"If anything is herculean, its the efforts of the nhs,you know, those people who are in effect getting a pay cut, and not the charlatans who have lurched from 1 disaster to the next, and wasted/given millions to their chums. Many members of the NHS did a magnificent job but not ALL of the NHS should be given the credit and expect another pay rise due to the efforts of others. " Right.. and how would that work exactly?

" If they didn't say that it was possible to go into lockdown again then there would be exactly similar posts wondering why they didn't. Covid isn't on a lead that anyone - in the whole world - has got a controlling hand on. We all just have to be patient, sensible and roll with what comes next. The only thing any of us can do is practice safe behaviour and get a Vax.
"Yes i did and my opinion on him hasn't changed. Some of his decisions appear to be no more than political brownie point scoring he claims to be followimg the science that all 4 nations chief medical officers have agreed then does something diffeent to the other nations (following the science?).advises the welsh public to staycation and only travel internationally if essential . Yet the first flight to spain (amber country) left cardiff airport(owned by welsh government) today was that an essential flight? Also he has no plan of staying for the full term of the assembly meaning all those who voted labour are going to end up with someone they didn t vote for in 2 years time. If a union voted in a shop foreman and he retired you wouldnt just accept the next person who wanted the job you d have another new vote . So does that mean wales will have a say in the new first minister when he's gone or just have to put up with whoever labour gives the job too." As I have stated many times before I think Drakeford has done a pretty good job. I cant believe your moaning about a flight going to Spain after the huge fiasco the conservatives have made with international flights in and out of this country since the very first lockdown. We will never agree so Ill leave you with this little gem .Being right isnt nearly as important as knowing when to shut up

"Probably. The disease may cause serious harm, we know that. But simultaneously we're being told we're allowed to do a bunch of things but also don't or be careful. I think they're trying to shirk responsibility for whatever goes wrong, again. We told you it was safe and you listened to us. Look what you did! Bad public! Almost like they are handing our health control back to us again and its your own fault that you caught it and have health problems from it I just hope that the NHS can smash through the operation waiting list before we find out if this variant is going to blaze through us " They won’t because by that time it will be a full circle from the beginning - vaccine works up to 12 months in which case next year this time we will be piling up in front of jab centres again and god forbids something corona unrelated happens to us ... a never fucking ending story ...
