So I got to thinking last night about the virus and other things.
I had my tonsils out as a kid. uptill then i had all sorts of regular infections but since I have had very little.
I know that part of the testing involves swabbing the tonsils / tonsil area.
Who else has had their tonsils out and have you had covid?
Has having them out helped protect me against the virus?

The tonsils / tonsil area simply give the tester a place to aim for with the swab. It just needs to get right to the back of your mouth into the throat as that's where viruses like to hang out. |

Yes as said above its just a target, a swabs needs to be taken from the back of the throat. The tonsils are part of the lymphatic system/immune system, working abit like lymph nodes which filter our body fluids, althought they do regularly get infections (tonsilitis) as a child, actually when removed it can make you slightly more susceptible to some upper airway/respiratory infection. |
