Check out the radio interview that Julia Hartley Brewer had with the the MP Liz Truss, especially the fact that only ONE person died of schmovid recently in a day, yet 67 MILLION people are STILL living with restrictions.

It makes less and less sense every day

You're right.

As we learn more and more about variants, about immune escape, and about the long term effects of Covid, it makes less and less sense to complain about the restrictions which will likely save many lives.

It seems we are getting to the point where restrictions will be lifted but we are only here because of the restrictions and the vaccine roll out....not much longer.

Very, very odd.

Yes, the restrictions and other measures are exactly why only 1 person died from covid on that day. Also, I'm sure that was the date the death was reported, not the date of death.

It's correct that the cautious approach based on steps and subsequent results is paying off. It would be madness to throw lives at losing such control and caution. Variants are a huge risk and the concept that doing it this way, to prevent future restrictions, is wise, based on the stupid rush last year and total lack of control that contrasts with now. Each step carries more risk. We still have millions to vaccinate who deserve care, instead of somebody who is desperate and has no impulse control, like an immature child, not bothering about others who are less fortunate than they are.

Brewer and Truss are two of the most unpleasant, ignorant and bigoted people in this country. Truss is only in government because she makes those around her seem like members of Mensa by comparison. Brewer has made a career out of treating minorities like shit.

I honestly don't understand why people are still complaining about restrictions.

They all whinged and complained right from the start demonstrated and protested, yet here we are a good way into the vaccination program, cases falling all the time deaths getting less and less daily and despite the evidence clearly showing the plan is working and just over a month before the June 21st lifting of all restrictions.

Still they complain.

This is such an emotive subject but most people refuse through ignorance/naivety/poor media choices to see the actual truth.

Is the reason for low infections due to vaccine roll out? No, if such a large % of the population have already had C19 then they have natures vaccine already, does that mean vulnerable people shouldn’t be vaccinated? Of course they should be, I mean we all want to keep everybody alive for as long as humanly possible.

Would this government lie, misdirect and use the mainstream media to scare the gen pop with standard scare tactics to make themselves seem like the heroes and saviours?! Yes, absolutely. An example of this would be Grant Shapps - today he said “we have seen more positive C19 diagnosis than ever in this last x days” well yes, that MIGHT be true but why? Well India, which has a quarter of the planets population currently has zero control over the pandemic and you are clearly counting world figures rather than UK figures.

People need to learn to have a critical mind and stop licking the arseholes of a Tory government that has - refused to feed children from poor families whilst not at school, voted largely against same sex marriage, tried to fuck over the countries 3rd biggest city because its a Labour city, and could go on but nobody wants critical thinking, everybody wants to follow Tories and get screwed over again and again

I'm not a fan of this Tory government though opposition to same sex marriage is a plus. One thing (only thing) they got right was securing advance supply of vaccines and being ahead of the curve. I think to deny that Covid is a serious health problem is mad mad mad and various countries death rates confirm this and only by lockdown measures has this prevented more deaths. To deny this is delusional.

I’m not denying that the evidence points to C19 having a SIGNIFICANT impact on those with pre-existing conditions. I am denying that there is any science to support restricting the movement of healthy children and adults, causing unknown mental health issues now and in the future.

And as you oppose same sex marriage my view is that your opinion is definitely ignorant. God forbid people live happy lives they want.

Yes, and we got to those very positive stats because of lockdown, not as some magical unrelated lucky break.

The times we tried to race ahead, move too slow etc were the times that things got out of control and people died. Better to go slow and steady and get this right rather than hokey-ying in and out of lockdowns to meet the whims of the day.

Too many mouths like Hartley-Brewer and Fox have found a way to monetise playing reactionary clowns irrespective of the real-world cost of strangers dying elsewhere.

It doesn’t fully end because we now have a cycle of a new virus to manage annually. But it diminishes with full national vaccination. And diminishes further once we’ve supported the rest of the planet to be vaccinated too.

Alongside that we need to remain vigilant for variants and the remarkable ability of viruses to evolve to survive and thrive.

We need to think about everyone and no just ourselves, moderate our behaviours and always keep the big picture.

Too easy to say things are fine today so I want normality back, and that’s where con artists jump in and make money out of contrarianism without responsibility.

"Check out the radio interview that Julia Hartley Brewer had with the the MP Liz Truss, especially the fact that only ONE person died of schmovid recently in a day, yet 67 MILLION people are STILL living with restrictions.

It makes less and less sense every day

Yes, and we got to those very positive stats because of lockdown, not as some magical unrelated lucky break.

The times we tried to race ahead, move too slow etc were the times that things got out of control and people died. Better to go slow and steady and get this right rather than hokey-ying in and out of lockdowns to meet the whims of the day.

Too many mouths like Hartley-Brewer and Fox have found a way to monetise playing reactionary clowns irrespective of the real-world cost of strangers dying elsewhere.

Maybe Lockdown , maybe the vaccine , maybe the Weather..who knows all three my guess. Deaths are right down too.

How does this end if ever?

Well i think things are as fine as they can be in the UK right now. The world is another matter. Covid will be around for years now so your argument is for long lasting restrictions. Thats a valid argument. But there are people who don't agree. I think travelling abroad is a bad idea for the next year Or two, but its happening .

"Also, your profile says “open minded” but you disagree with same sex marriage, isn’t that a contradiction?!

I meant marriage in the true form, in a church and union between man an woman.. a union between same sex couples is great

The true form?

Definitely not open minded then.

Marriage between man and woman is sacrament. This opinion does not mean I am not open minded. Any type of sex union is fine by me but I believe in keeping marriage between man and woman is sacrament. "

It’s absolutely not open minded to consider a marriage lesser because it doesn’t happen in a church or is between a same sex couple.

Quite odd to see such clearly religious views being held by a member on a swinging site.

"Take this whichever way you want, but the UK death rate has been one of the highest in the World. Seems to have been forgotten in the rush to praise the government in getting the vaccines out. if you look at the all the death toll in the uk this year and compare it to last years death toll and the year befores death toll there is literaly no difference a few thousand "

A few thousand?

Almost 80,000 higher than the previous 5 year average in England and Wales. That’s not a “few thousand” in anyone’s book.

Clearly you can't have low death rates without lockdowns, many countries have now proved it, Germany to the extreme is one of them. Australia must be bricking it - they will have open up to the rest of the somewhen.

I would not call these religious views. Some of us are active Christians, and hold no truck at all with discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, race, disability, age (legal and moral limits applying in this particular case) or other characteristics.

Let's call these sort of views out for what they are, bigoted. It is perfectly possible to be religious without being bigoted, and in fact I would suggest that anybody holding these type of outmoded opinions cannot be truly genuinely whole heartedly Christian.

Same sex marriage in the real sense should not be tolerated. Perfectly fine for same sex unions to be legally protected and have the same rights as a rightful married couple. But keep 'Marriage' solely between Man and Woman. Though I know it is kind of hard to distinguish between this fucked up world where a boy grows up not sure if their actually a boy nor a girl hasn't a fucking clue if she's a girl

Oh good grief. Several points here - if you get married in a church, but don't sign the legal paperwork then YOU AREN'T MARRIED. Marriage is a legal institution not a religious one. Tell me, do you believe in the biblical definition of marriage? Do you support the idea that a rapist must marry his victim and pay her father as compensation?

"Very, very odd. you are right so many enjoying there long hard fought for rights being taken away "

Hysterical... our freedom as you put it was won by generations, many losing years of their lives serving this country overseas or bringing up families by themselves whilst sleeping in buried tin shelters in a garden...

We’ve had a challenging period to get through, nothing more.... you talk of lost freedom but looking around this country, seeing things opening back up, a normality returning... I don’t see a huge suffering.

Your William Wallace speech is laughable to be honest, having had to endure your posts for over a year what I will say is when our Freedoms are restored in full, it’s despite everything your vocalised, it’s despite every selfish person like yourselves who have done nothing to help the collective get there.

We are nearing an end to the effects of this pandemic... yet you are still bleating on about fictional issues. If you took all your posts from the past year and then compared them to our historic timeline, they make for hysterical reading... given a few months this one will join them as yet again it sets a new standard in ludicrous.

EXACTLY This ^ … the rate fell last year and lockdown was mostly lifted then we bounced to an even higher level.

It feels nice a to be still coping, alive and un-bereaved enough to complain about it doesn’t it.
