"Mine has been brought forward to Wednesday next week "
I had to really fight to get my second one within the 12 weeks.
I called my surgery last week as Monday is 12 weeks and was told "its only guidelines for under 12 weeks, you don't necessarily need a second jab"!
Phoned again today and spoke to a different person and was told "we do have appointments for the Phizer on Saturday but government guidelines is prioritise the first jabs over the second"!
Phoned 119 and was told they cant book for the Phizer but they took my surgery details.
An hour later had a phone call from the practice manager to say
"You can have an appointment Saturday as the government have now changed the guidelines again to say it should be administratored within 12 weeks"
I'm so glad I'm changing surgerys. |

What they meant to say is that there have been MASSIVE supply chain issues with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. As far as I know, they're not giving any first doses of Pfizer-BioNTech at the moment and haven't for some time. Only Oxford-AZ and Moderna now. They're already pushing it by leaving the Pfizer-BioNTech so long!
Also, we've been told to prioritise second doses, so first dose appointments are being made around seconds and that's a centre only offering Oxford-AZ. The centre had to close for one week in April due to supply issues with that vaccine... |

I've been told the second jab side effects are more than the first one. |

"I've been told the second jab side effects are more than the first one. "
There's no specific pattern. Anecdotal evidence is fewer side effects with second dose Oxford-AZ but possibly more with second dose Pfizer-BioNTech and there's pretty strong correlation with age (younger = more likely to be side effects). It's fairly random, it would seem, overall. |

Don’t listen to the bloke down the road who has a mare who says he felt worse after the second one
Most do not get a more severe reaction to the second dose

So if both had 2nd jab are people now considering meeting indoors? |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I cant get a second jab for love or money.I phoned 119 yesterday, to make sure my appointment was still ok for the 24th,as we now have 2 sites open in the local shopping centre. As was told Im booked in at medical centre in the middle of nowhere. The only way to get there for 8am is to paid silly money for a taxi,or leave my home at 3.30 am to walk there. |

"So if both had 2nd jab are people now considering meeting indoors?"
Regardless of whether you've had both vaccinations,
Technically people shouldn't meet inside until 17th May, and then it's still within social distancing.(Unless you live on your own and have formed a bubble I believe??)
June 21st is the predicted date for all restrictions to be lifted.
That's my understanding anyway. |

It's not the fault of the vaccine centre. There are significant supply chain issues with global vaccine manufacturing and the fact that the Serum Institute of India has ceased all exports and other manufacturers are having production issues, means that some delays are occuring. It's less than ideal but not the NHS fault. |

Didn't say I was blaming the vaccination centre but people knew they were going to run out days ago and failed to contact us a simple group email or text would have saved me taking a half day off work to drive 30 miles for nothing! Now I will have to arrange another half day off when they do get around to contacting me. |

Had to chase up my daughters 2nd one today. Had been told she couldn't have it due to a shortage of the Pfizer, however she had a doctors appointment today
They told me that if I couldn't get the local clinics to get me an appointment soon to ring 119 and get it sorted as she hit the 12 week mark today . |

I wasn’t worried or indeed cared what jab I had but I choose to have my jab with my specialist in hospital so it was the Pfizer but I could have had the astra at the chemist or my local doctors.
My wife last night booked her Pfizer jab at a center for next week and her second one is 25 days after.
I’m a chronic stupid diabetic with breathing and heart problems and I love the healthcare here in France but the vaccine rollout has been shit to put it mildly but now they are getting up to speed bless them!!!!!

"Mine has been brought forward to Wednesday next week
The centre had to close for one week in April due to supply issues with that vaccine..."
Not the case down here, we are offering first dose Pfizer for the under 40s, vaccinated another 2.5k patients at our site today, GP led vaccinations are mostly Pfizer now, we have 3 deliveries every week |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I have found the AZ vaccine to be fking evil! I’m pro vaccine but I’m not greatly impressed with the side effects! Never had any reaction to any other vaccine but this has battered me. Hope I’m sharper tomorrow. It’s not like I’ve just been unlucky, almost everyone I speak to in their 30’s and 40’s has been written off for days after AZ! |

Yep, you are quite right, hence the vaccine choice for the under 40s is now Pfizer or Moderna |

And that’s my point. Too many people are getting hit too hard by the side effects of the AZ vaccine. There is more to the news they will not be giving AZ to under 40s than just the possible clot risk... I’m still pro vaccination but my confidence has been rocked by the realisation they rolling out a vaccine that heavily floors the majority not just the minority of patients who receive it. I do wonder if ramping up to mass production has degraded the vaccine quality compared to the material used in the original trials. Feeling functional today but not right yet |

"Mine has been brought forward to Wednesday next week
" problem with surgeries is we are told nothing by the govt or nhs on when policies change. As they do change reg. Maybe the people telling you were going by the policy they had at the time !!!.k |

Don't have a TV.
Just listened to a podcast from the London school of hygiene and tropical medicine on vaccine development. Heard one earlier on the spread of respiratory droplets in an animal model.
Been doing my own research for over a year now, and am delighted to have been jabbed. |

I was anti vac originally but as the situation got worse decided to have it. Had my second a couple of weeks and no discernible side effects apart from a sore arm both times. A friend of mine has been taken off their feet with the second and has had to take to their bed for a day so it seems completely random? For once being older seems to be an advantage? Can't think of any others though |

How many people have heart attacks each week? Lots and lots. Having one heart attack means you have a high likelihood of having another. 1 in 5 people who've had one heart attack will have another within 5 years. Did he have risk factors for heart problems?
Anyone with cardiovascular problems are at heavily increased risk from Covid so having the vaccine is important.
Not every health problem that occurs after someone has had a vaccine is CAUSED by the vaccine. Correlation is not causation. |

As many people as possible need to be vaccinated or have had Covid so that the infection loses transmissibility potential.
We have both had 2 vaccinations because of work and would encourage as many people as possible to get vaccinated.
We all need to see thaw back of this. |

Clearly doing your own research is far better than trained health care professionals.
I studied vaccine development as part of my Pharmacy Degree and it's one of the most highly regulated industries in the world.
Clinical trials for drugs and vaccines are even more extreme to the point that only specifically authorised people on a strict time schedule are allowed within that room. (I've witnessed this whilst on a hospital placement)
But yes your own research is clearly better. |

Still awaiting first jab for me, em has both as she is a midwife. I'm patiently waiting but will jump at the chance to get it even though I know its not 100% efficient(like everything in the world). The vaccine doesn't just reduce the risk of catching covid but also reduces the chance of serious illness if you do catch it. I an no expert, but I see it like this, condoms aren't 100% effective, but I still wear them. |

I am going to say it's maybe you who have the problem? Everyone else seems quite happy.. And they are probably that way because they have actually done some proper research ( hopefully).. As opposed to the people out there listening to people on YT wittering on about Bill Gates spying, economic resets and other conspiracies in general .. Which is really where heads need to be woken up a bit to take a proper big noseful of the coffee I would say..

Because this vaccine is still in its trial stage, the results due in 2023 will be sent to the FDA for scrutiny prior to liscence approval.its only been liscenced for emergency use.
How does horrid equate to being sensible? |
