Only 32 in 74000 people

According to sky news only 32 people have been admitted to hospital 3 weeks after having the jab out of the 74,000 people admitted with the virus this year.

That’s a pretty good stat. And it follows on to say that they were all in the elderly population.

Judging by the weird private messages we got they are going down the conspiracy line. Rather than the gloom

they were only admitted. Doesn't say anything about them passing on.

OP this is really good news. Hopefully will encourage even more to get their vaccine. I've been told my daughter will get her 2nd in the next 2 weeks and I will feel so much better then x

That is really really good news. So the 34 are the ones that were affected negatively by the virus irrespective of the jab thats a 0.045% basically less than 1%

Boris should open the country up.. People are suffering from mental health issues. The vaccine should be accelerated..if we put all our resources we could fully vaccinate the entire adult population by End of May

Yes he is but don't you think the pace is slow. What happened to the Moderna Vaccine 17million doses. Why can't they start offering to 18 to 30s.

I tell you alot of the 18 to 30s would take the vaccine willingly if that's what it takes to get normality back.

The pace is determined by the need to see the effect of unlocking.

Supply and ability to administer vaccines are issues. I've certainly not been jabbed yet (and I will be), and I'm over 30.

Single jab is not full treatment for this for any vaccine approved in the UK - and we're nowhere near protecting the vast majority of the population.

Yea you're right and I understand that..i understand the need for caution but if they were to invest resources into vaccination, we could open the country up quicker.

I've had the jab and support it

You really need to understand the data though

They had data on only 1700 individuals, and of those 1700 they identifued 32 who had one jab.

Most of the 70,000 cases relate to before we'd even started jabbing!

All data has limitations and is based on the time it's gathered. But I think the encouraging picture is also seen with, say, the CDC breakthrough infection data.

I think you have a point re going faster. But my assumption is that the pace is determined by the availability of the supplies of vaccines. We hit over 800k a day a month ago... We were told April was going to be slower due to supply constraints.... Supply is always going to be an issue.

Lets not forget we need to get a grip of our borders too...

And make faster and better decisions re red list countries.

And lastly... We need all our near neighbours to have a successful vaccine program completed too.

According to the government’s official statistics (available https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reaction), there have been c.700,000 adverse reactions and c.1,000 fatalities for the Pfizer and AstraZenica jabs alone!

Do you know a sore arm counts as an adverse reaction?

How does that compare to the deaths and disabilities caused by Covid?

You do realise that all the adverse reactions have been categorised so you can see exactly what constitutes an ‘adverse reaction’?

The point is that the Sky report, identified by the OP, is patently misleading.

... Having actually pulled up the site you posted, I'm going to call bullshit. It's full of "we're figuring this out, we have to do the analysis" type stuff.

You know how people keep saying "got hit by a bus, died with Covid?"

The scientists are trying to figure out if people died/suffered illness with Covid vaccines or of Covid vaccine.

To try to paint anything as definitive in a complex, fast moving, relatively new situation is bullshit on stilts.

Actually you're wrong, the yellow card scheme is to report side effects/ reactions potentially caused by the vaccines. Note the word potentially.

A direct quote from this page

'The nature of Yellow Card reporting means that reported events are not always proven side effects. Some events may have happened anyway, regardless of vaccination.'
