Due to a combination of things, my FwB and I haven’t been able to see each other for just over a year (either overseas, lockdowns or personal circumstances). Now it’s possible that on Tuesday, we might be able to sync up at a nearby pub for an outdoor drink and maybe something to eat. Not a problem.
However... next to this pub is a hotel... It seems to be open for bookings, but I have a suspicion that separate households cannot yet meet overnight, just outdoors socially. Am I right?
If I booked a room, and the staff clocked two of us going to that room, is there a reasonable chance we get reported?
I suspect I know the answer already and it won’t be the one I want!! However, thought I should check... |

they might not even let you check in without proof of being an essential worker , i know someone who relocated to scotland from poland and had a booking at a hotel for her first few nights til she found somewhere more permanent to stay, when she arrived at night the hotel wouldn’t let her check in as she was not a key worker and she had to stay in a homeless shelter |

Be very surprised if the hotel were bothered, we know plenty of people who've stayed in hotels all round the country and very rare anyone even sees a member of staff let alone gets asked anything about their stay. |

"Isn’t it may 17th when two households can mix overnight?
Yes
Bugger. Another month of frustration "
2 months. You will still have to Socially distance inside until at least the 21st June when it is expected that all restrictions will be lifted. |

Step 3 - not before 17 May
Social contact
As part of Step 3, no earlier than 17 May, the government will look to continue easing limits on seeing friends and family wherever possible, allowing people to decide on the appropriate level of risk for their circumstances.
This means that most legal restrictions on meeting others outdoors will be lifted - although gatherings of over 30 people will remain illegal. Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply - we will keep under review whether it is safe to increase this.
As soon as possible and by no later than Step 3, we will also update the advice on social distancing between friends and family, including hugging. But until this point, people should continue to keep their distance from anyone not in their household or support bubble. |

The dates are only to state it's what could be done but whether it's safe enough is another question because this virus is still around and people can still infect others and we could end up going back to lockdown ![](/icons/s/neutral.gif) |
