I agree, informative. However, another report based on theory by scientist who cannot prove at this stage the value of their comments
We, as human, have ALWAYS found solutions to problems, our own created problems most of times, Covid will not be an exception.
Time and timing are keys, we have become accustomed to get results within seconds, research is a slow process.
Patience and trust... |

We've been following a similar, multi-layered model, as most countries have. And the UK has spoken of not eradicating the virus, just reducing the levels to manageable, acceptable levels.
The vaccines will be the longer term tool to sustain lower levels, as I don't think the public will sustain mask wearing for many years and the country won't be in lockdown permanently, to reduce contact between people.
The easier things, such as hand cleaning and good ventilation indoors, could be continued widely - some of us will wear masks longer than others too.
We may continue testing international arrivals for some time longer, which will help to spot potential variants entering the country. We may also target travellers from very high risk countries, continuing with immediate quarantine etc.
The government ultimately wants the economy opened and for things to be just about good enough. As time passes, it's possible that standards will slip, as our attention is lost from it.
We've probably not accepted the levels of impact that are acceptable per year - deaths, serious illness etc. But that's what it will come down to. Any of us may be the unfortunate victims of having a baseline that's a bit worse than flu, for example. |
