For the last few weeks plenty here have been doom mongering that the lockdown would not be eased, more likely more clampdowns, a tougher police state, less freedoms.

So easing is going to plan from 12th April.

Typical crackpot behaviour. They'll move onto the next load of nonsense fed to them by social media and conveniently ignore the fact everything they've spouted so far has come to nothing... most of them don't actually care about the content of their rubbish, they're just addicted to feeling special... like they're the ones in the know.

As clearly seen in QAnon behaviour - some of them are still waiting for the "real" inauguration.

Or indeed antivaxxers - when shown that mercury in vaccines isn't correlated with certain conditions, they say it's epigenetic damage from maternal vaccines/ a coverup.

Galloping through lie after lie

Funny enough i was reading something similar about the doom and gloom mongers written by a physiatrist It is the special feeling they get by feeling superior.

Yes, I've read similarly. Inability to accept that things exist outside their or wider control, need for an in group, need to feel superior.

It'd be pitiful, and I'd pity them deeply, if it wasn't so dangerous.

Only time will tell, I wouldn`t like to say either way. Europe isn`t fairing too well. Variants all over the shop.

If they lift hols abroad it might swing the wrong way.

I personally think keep locked down till end of May, this virus keeps raising its head in some form or another.

Hopefully no more surprises but I wouldn`t hold my breath so to speak.

I'm beginning to feel cautiously optimistic. There are certainly issues, but I'm desperately hoping vaccines will get us over the line.

Its going to take time but i think if we all stick to the rules and follow the timetable we will come out ok. Unfortunately people of today are too used to instant gratification and dont have the patience to wait for anything anymore, everything has to be instant but guess thats the way the world has gone.

You mean the anti lockdown brigade, and those who said a vaccine will never be found for covid 19 ??

Thankfully the lockdown and the introduction of the vaccine have helped to reduce the ill effects of the pandemic and things can slowly start to get better.

Still have to hope it gets better in Europe and everywhere else, and that variants from elsewhere don't affect the progress we've made so far.

Let's not be too smug too soon. Its going well but we still have a long way to go and then we have a winter to get through.... Just keep taking the baby steps in the right direction.

Schools didn't increase infections yet.

I’m of the opinion that if foreign travel is restricted we might do ok. However there is pressure on the government from the travel industry to encourage foreign holidays, and that is likely to let new variants in to the UK.

Yes, the international travel aspect will make things more challenging. While my understanding is that T cell immunity is unaffected by the variants so far, it might not stay that way.

It's heading in the right direction that's for sure. Whether the higher powers WANT it to keep going thst direction... Well that's for them to decide on.

But figures last night saw 49 new infections and 29 deaths from covid in 24 hours. That's a drop of almost 90% based on figures WITHOUT the vaccine so it's definitely a showing of mass improvement. Doesn't help the unfortunate any I'll bow to that but the rate of fall is suggesting the "R" number could be at 0 by end of April

We are all aware that viruses mutate and covid is no different.and as with all things in nature the strongest prevail and dominate the rest like humans dominate this planet. But like us humans a virus has to learn to live with its host without destroying or killing it or the virus also risks dieing out. So far the "Kent" varient appears to be the dominant strain and is currently ravaging europe but as it appears to be far more contagious but less deadly. Hence more people recovering or even beimg asymptomatic. Hopefully as it carries on mutating it will become even less deadly but may stay just as contentious and will become something we have to live with and stay aware of But that is just my opinion

I think you're right. We don't seem to be getting a grip on who is coming into our country... At least there's no sensible news about it..and I'd imagine it would be a story if we suddenly fixed that problem.

Doomed! We're all doomed I tell you!! The zombies are coming. If they don't finish us off, asteroid Apophis is just behind them. And all this genetic engineering, the madmen are trying to bring back the dinosaurs just to run a theme park, I saw a documentary about it, they're going to call it "Cretaceous World" but what happens when they get loose that's what I want to know? It's all part of a global control plan by the Grey Aliens who are going to breed humans for use as foodstock, the clues are all there in a book called "Soylent Green".

It's the end, we're all doomed....

Is a conspiracy theorist someone that doesn’t always believe everything they are told? Man on the Moon, did it happen! JFK, who the hell shot him! 9/11, hmmmm where to start! True or not its interesting to hear some of the conspiracies... or the other side of the story. People that, dare I say it, think for themselves, don’t necessarily believe all they are told are labelled conspiracy theorists... and even a danger to society! How sad is that really? Anybody that thinks for them self is a danger to society! Doesn’t tow the line! Proper sad.

This forum wouldn’t be much of it wasn’t for hearing other folks points of view, we can’t hear them down the pub or in the workplace... yet on here people are slammed down and called dangerous conspiracy theorists, doom mongers for saying what they think... questioning stuff, sharing opinions...

I think the doom mongers and conspiracy theorist should speak up, say what you think... don’t be put off by other people that THINK they know best.
