If the old and vulnerable get vaccinated why cant we mix?

If it usually takes 10 years for a vaccine to be made why this one take 10 momth?

And how do they know its safe?

And we all know virus mutate so if the new variant of virus comes and the old vaccine doesnt work on them what the point having it

Unless you shut boarders and keep everyone in the country?

Last thing a life has a price on it because you cant get some treatment coz to expensive so when it what where borrowing going to stop

The whole point is to reduce the amount of infections. The deaths have not been restricted to the over 80s and very ill. We are still seeing over five thousand new infections every day.

The main reason that a vaccine could be created so quickly, is because the big delay in creating these things is waiting for funding to be approved. In this case funding was readily available.

We know that the vaccines are safe, because they have not only been in testing for over a year now... but there gave been literally hundreds of millions of doses given. Any negative outcomes would be very obvious by now.

Good point why can’t we mix ,the average age off death from Covid is 83.4 considering that life expectancy is 81 in U.K. and now nearly all the over 50s are vaccinated that’s a good question

obvious if reported, baring in mind some nasty side effects may take a while to shownup.

I remain unconvinced that these vaccines are safe as yet, this is due to apfizers terrible track record and the fact it was rubber stapmed by an entirely incompeted buffoon, and his well selected posse of clowns.

I also feel that the blood clot issue that euripe where concerned ablut has been quietly brushed under the carpet.

Luckily i am not in an age category that has been coerced into taking it, yet.

As for the debt, how can every country in the world be accruing debt?

Does it literally mean the world bank et al owns the planet? seems that way..

Galaxy Far Far Away

As I understand it even if vaccinated you can still catch and pass on covid. The more it passes on the longer it lives and the more opportunity to mutate keeping us in a never ending cycle. The sooner everyone is vaccinated, which reduces the effects the sooner we can meet our parents and grandchildren again.

If the old and vulnerable get vaccinated why cant we mix?

Because the vaccine has been shown to reduce the severe complications that Covid19 causes especially in the elderly, it doesn't offer complete immunity.

If it usually takes 10 years for a vaccine to be made why this one take 10 momth?

And how do they know its safe?

The baseic make up of the vaccine has been in trials, tests etc for decades. The Covid specific part is an adaptation to deal with the Covid virus.

And we all know virus mutate so if the new variant of virus comes and the old vaccine doesnt work on them what the point having it unless you shut boarders and keep everyone in the country?

The flu mutates and every year the flu vaccine is tweaked to help it better deal with the current strain. No difference with the Covid vaccine.

Last thing a life has a price on it because you cant get some treatment coz to expensive so when it what where borrowing going to stop?

Depends on what price you put on human life I guess?

The fact that left to spread unchecked it would become a fast expanding illness and would lead to hospitals being over run seems to escape the uneducated

Central

A variety of little bits and pieces thrown in, as assertions and questions. Most of the incorrect assertions have been long debunked.

Much of the extended timescales in research and development are due to lower priority and resources availability, compared to a global threat, with potentially billions needing treatment and an ongoing need for several years - which creates revenue. Research will typically start and stop multiple times, rather than be mostly continuous in a high priority case. Finding and securing ever larger amounts of funding is slow, especially if something doesn't have accepted levels of future income for a treatment.

Many would view research that's conducted with very high levels of scrutiny, on a continuous basis, with dedicated teams not splitting their attention on other projects, fund raising, their day job conflicts, as being significantly more reliable and trustworthy than the opposite. These very high profile projects have the highest levels of scrutiny, at multiple government level, that follows global cooperation and huge levels of collaboration in many countries, for example that aren't there for a smaller research team working on their largely unknown pet projects. For example, just getting tens of thousands of participants in several countries to trial a medicine could typically be incredibly slow and take many months or years but hasn't in this instance due to the incredible priority of the virus. That otherwise very slow process would achieve the same result. You have to put your thinking behind what you're claiming, rather than churning out the same tropes that have been around and squashed, for months now.

The arsenal is strong, we've many effective vaccines and also low cost treatments that now prevent thousands of deaths and severe illness, due to this intense, global collaboration and investment. Weaknesses are global vaccine production and delivery mechanisms, which means that mutations and variants may continue to arise, whilst infection levels don't get reduced as quickly as would be ideal. Leaky borders do present issues for new variants to pass through, whilst travel occurs between areas of risk and others. As UK infection levels fall, it leaves the country in a stronger place to be able to monitor what's happening globally and at home, looking out for things going wrong. Travel will be suppressed this year, but we're still some months away from having all adults vaccinated twice. Supplies aren't continuous but those most at risk have been largely treated, allowing the health service to gain some relief. All people may get the infection and long covid isn't excluded from anyone, neither are other debilitating conditions caused by the virus, including organ damage, diabetes etc.

The perfect approach won't exist, where you have a new somewhat unknowm problem. Those countries like New Zealand, which gain benefits from greater isolation than we do, face risks, if they resume increased tourist travel from foreign visitors. The problem will exist for quite some time as eradication isn't the key priority for most countries.

"The fact that left to spread unchecked it would become a fast expanding illness and would lead to hospitals being over run seems to escape the uneducated "

And yet the nightingale hospitals were grossly underused and now moth balled plus flu and Covid figures and in the mix.

Just because you state the occasional obvious thing doesn't mean you're educated. Just because others hold a different opinion than you, doesn't mean they are uneducated. Some very eminent, highly educated people would vehemently disagree with you.

"If the old and vulnerable get vaccinated why cant we mix?"

We can, very soon.

"If it usually takes 10 years for a vaccine to be made why this one take 10 momth?"

MRNA vaccines have been in development for years, these ones are modified from something meant for the common cold I believe.

" we all know virus mutate so if the new variant of virus comes and the old vaccine doesnt work on them what the point having it"

I believe the vaccine targets the specific spikes that allow the virus to infect humans, I'm not a virologist but if that mutates, surely the virus can't infect humans anymore?

Unfortunately there are other protein spikes that can infect humans. If there was just the one, then they could may a universal vaccine that prevents ALL viruses

Makes sense. I assumed I was looking at it too simplistically

It is frustrating that we have not been given the go ahead to mix. Some people are of course, I would not be comfortable with it as I would not like to think I could be responsible for the death of anyone, however old they were. I also do not care if this view is branded as virtue signalling, it is my choice.

I would advise people to do some research on vaccines and infectious diseases like SARS and Influenza.

It's quite interesting.
