This is excellent news....
Anyone living with school-aged children in England will be entitled to two rapid coronavirus tests a week when pupils return to the classroom, the government has said.
All secondary school and college students will be tested twice a week when they go back on 8 March, according to the prime minister's roadmap out of lockdown.
But now ministers are promising all members of their households twice-weekly swabs as well.
The new measures apply to anyone in a household or support bubble with a child or young person who goes to college, primary or secondary school in England, the Department of Health and Social Care said.
Coronavirus tests for family members will be available at 500 pickup locations nationwide, existing local testing sites or schemes at their workplaces.

But will they do the test properly
We had a guy at work how admired to ordering a home test. As he could not afford to isolate.
And I understand it but it puts more at risk.
LFT needs backing up with temp test at the gate and random testing. In school done by a traind person.
I even wonder if they will have to hand them back to the school or is it all on trust. |

This is super news. People are already being asked to register their kids at an outlet.
We have to trust that people will do it properly and trust that they are monitored to do it properly by by guardians and edu staff.
The newest is way easier to do than the first iterations.

I'm fortunate in my job I've already been able to do this and have the kits accessible to me thanks to work, it's about time they started to do something like this in schools, mine are still primary age so won't be being tested by the looks of it, so being able to do mine and my family even though we're all vaccinated with our first dose is reassuring for us |

It is good news and should be used in most workplaces. Let's get this country back up and running again.
I'm very surprised though that it's only being done from 8th. Schools are running at 50 full already. So why not be testing the 50% that are already schooling this week? Why wait? |

It’s. only secondary kids and above. However, I’m assuming the primary teachers will do the twice weekly testing, like the other teachers, but not sure. |

Could be a simple matter of getting consent from parents and actually supplying the tests to each school.
This isn’t a mandatory testing, everyone has to consent and that consent can be withdrawn at any time. |

So I guess kids at primary age move about less or did when I was at school so the risk is so much lower.

I may be really stupid asking this
I have daughter at primary shes here friday to sundays so will i be able to get these tests or is it just for the household the child lives at most of the time |

I would guess that they will have to 'cover' the children for the tests that they need for each educational week regardless of where they are. A friend I know has already been asked to consent, and she has split care. |

It says household or support bubble, so I would say from that you are covered. I’m assuming more will be communicated by the schools once known. |

It says household or support bubble, so I would say from that you are covered. I’m assuming more will be communicated by the schools once known. "

I would like to order some to be delivered to my house but I can't find anything on line about how to do it.
I know you can get them through your employer if they're part if the scheme, mine isn't.
You can get them from a test centre, I don't fancy going there
And you can order them on line.
They don't make it easy so they?!!

This is what we had from our school
‘ Once 3 on-site tests are complete, students participating in the testing process will be provided with home testing kits. These must be done twice a week and the results (positive or negative) must be reported to NHS Track & Trace as soon as the test is complete either on-line or by telephone, as per the instructions in the home test kit. Further details on how these tests are distributed to families will be explained once we have further details’
So we are waiting to hear the process for it |

Primary schools can and are offering lft tests to children and families, they should also be taking temps on entrance to the school, and be advised parents and staff to be vigilant about any symptoms. |

probably because half the forum think the govt are too controlling and the other half want them to turn up at our houses to wipe our arse for us
personally i think additional access to optional testing at home for peace of mind is a great balance between the 2 |

You can get 28 years per household if you collect them from your local testing site. 7 if you order them online, they are encouraging people to collect if possible. There's a link on the government's website.

personally i think additional access to optional testing at home for peace of mind is a great balance between the 2 "
I agree, my daughter suffers with anxiety and was panicking about getting tested at school so having them at home is a far better option. |
