So One economist on telly using the 20s 30s as his guide predicted that we may see from 2023 an increase in night venues a massive global increase in the birth rate alongside, more marriages as well as more risk taking in global markets.
I think he might be wrong somehow. But what are your predictions fir a post pandemic world? |

Saw that same prediction (prob same person - American right?) few months back.
WWI & Spanish Flu devastated the world but was indeed followed by the hedonistic 1920s (but mostly for middle and upper class not working class). And yes it led to risk taking that was ultimately reflected in the financial markets leading to the crash and great depression.
So on that basis we will have an explosion of swinging fun for a few years = yay!
Then everything will screw up again = urgh! |

There was more to the ‘roaring 20s’ then just having come out of a global pandemic (which was so much worse than this one).
A huge aspect was in countries such as the UK, US and Germany you had the beginnings of universal suffrage, women’s rights had trickled down to young middle class women. Likewise the Great War had also broke down class boundaries of the ‘Georgian’ era.
Likewise in the US they had a booming economy due to the war and the decline of Europe’s power.
So maybe people will be out more and wanting to party but can’t see it being too similar |

Not going to happen. Not in the UK at least.
It relies on massive amount of post crisis government investment, directed at infrastructure projects, in this day and age, physical and data based.
This government will not do that after COVID. Or I cannot see them.
They also seem to thing people will have money saved up because in the developed world a log of people were paid to WFH and saved cash.
All well and good, but I've out as much of that cash to one side for a house and car. After that it'll be back to penny pinching unless my wage goes up.
But I'm looking at that from the perspective of a young person, with no assets, and a suppressed wage.
Maybe the older generations can rinse their accounts and put capital flow back into the economy. |

"Downturn in global economy, mass unemployment and a bigger gap in wealth leading to more civil unrest. "
Quite an objective reply and you get called a sign wearing nutter
So many things people just don't think about, look at how much this has cost insurance companies so far and they will claw it all back from joe public. |

You never know we might see the reballancing of wealth and gdp from west to east and corporate entities having greater over public infrastructure and life to which feared the 70s and 80s cyberpunk writers ... Or maybe not. |
