why do some people believe, that having the jab and then they can meet, beggers believe....
The jab lessens the risk of a severe case of covid to yourself.
it does not stop you catching covid OR passing it on, but it may lessen both these risks to others.
so you still need to act as before you had the jab. |

"I wish people would stop stating what the vaccine can or cannot do. It’s early days so the evidence is not there yet."
But best to assume it won’t cure, even though evidence is there that is suppresses infection, not prevent |

No, it's not a cure. It's a vaccine that seems to be extremely effective at preventing serious illness AND significantly reducing transmission. |

Why? Because more time and data is needed to measure the vaccine's effectiveness, any effect it has on transmission; and also to understand any potential side effects.
Like the 3rd poster said : its early days. |

And now they’re saying that the vaccines don’t hold up well to the new strains!
Plus the revised shielding list letters going out.
We’re a year into this now so I think more data will come out over the next 6 months... whether it will be in our favour or not though.... who knows! |

Of course..Nothing changes with the way we have to act. However, the evidence from Israel is extremely positive both in terms of 1st dose effectiveness and affect on transmission. |

Israel are only using the pfizer vaccine . They don't use the Astra Zen vaccine which we use over here together with pfizer.
Also Israel are not giving a 12-week gap before administering the second dose of the pfizer vaccine as we do over here.
So even though their results sound encouraging, we cannot rely on such results to draw conclusions as to what will happen here - because our vaccine rollout is not identical to theirs.
Our local scientists will have to do their own research and collect data from our own rollout before drawing any conclusions. Still early days. |

Fully aware of all that but look at my original post about the claim it doesn't stop you catching or passing it on. I wish people would stop spreading this baseless claim. |

Nobody said they were waiting for a cure.

Title of the thread says: "The Covid jab is *not* a cure"" . Oh really do you seriously not get it !!!!! In very simple terms—- Myself and the previous poster were simply making the point that anyone who was planning on waiting it out till this virus disappears will have a very very long wait and that normal life will return long before that ever happens. We weren’t talking about specific people. Get it now ????? |

I don't believe anyone is waiting till the virus *disappears* as you suggest. That's just an exaggeration.
What the OP and others are saying is: that we wait a bit more to see the effects of the vaccine before jumping back to normal life. I would say that's a sensible approach to take. |
