Vaccination timely reminder

As the next phase of vaccinations gets underway, targeting those under the age of 70, I thought a timely reminder might be useful for those receiving it.
Once you've received your first jab, it takes about 2-3 weeks for your antibodies to reach full capability. This means, irrespective of any current restrictions you need to adopt the mindset that you've still not had the vaccine and act accordingly, face masks, social distancing etc. Sorry if it sounds like preaching to the converted but it's an important point. |

Of course.
My mistake.
The social media I don't use is YouTube, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Kik.
I don't watch the news or any of the Downing Street briefings.
I only listen to Kiss FM radio on the TV which does not have a lengthy top of the hour news flash, nor does it go into details about vaccines.

No it's not pointless, realistically meets probably won't resume until people are comfortable with doing so. That's probably going to be when the infection and death rate are substantially low and have remained so for aehile. The vaccine rollout is one of a number of tools designed to help that day arrive more speedily. |

No it's not pointless, realistically meets probably won't resume until people are comfortable with doing so. I suspect its a rhetorical question. Currently nearly 10k infections every day from 700k tests. Nz locked Auckland down with 3 infections. Not that I'm comparing us to Nz as in theory our lockdowns are exactly the same. But we have quite a way to go to get daily infections down to single figures per day. Plus we know its going to be different for individuals as we know that some are already meeting. I imagine on the govt list of priorities of things to open up... Swinging meetings might be nearer to the bottom than the top.
Our vaccine program has been outstanding but we are quite some way from having 90% of adults vaccinated... Which will most likely be autumn ready for boosters for all. It's complex and dangerous and we just need to keep patient. |

I don't think even the scientists can answer that for you..no it's not all pointless if it stops us getting seriously ill, or worse, die..also hopefully it will reduce the pressure on our NHS.. |

It will probably be ok to meet up a month or so after second jab as long as most of the over 60s and vulnerable category have been double jabbed too.
The only caveat is the numbers drop in line with vaccination uptake.
Let's hope the numbers drop in the weeks post jabs and pray any mutations are manageable.
The less we all pass it on, the better and quicker a new normal will appear.
Will we go running out to the pub or club as soon as it's safe to do so, probably not. How will we feel being jostled while standing in a busy bar, no idea until it happens.
As we have seen and heard during this pandemic, what people say and what they do is wildly different.
We are hoping for a holiday in late September and leaving it at that.

ONS data report:
In England, 41% of over-80s tested positive for antibodies, which the ONS said was "most likely due to the high vaccination rate in this group".
Two weeks ago that figure was 26%.
It takes two to three weeks for immunity to build after vaccination. |

Not going to "bash" you for that, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But It's interesting how many people every year fall foul of scams and lose money, especially given how many years now people have been warned about them? As I said in my original post "apologies if I'm preaching to the converted".... But reminders are never futile, if they only inform one person that didn't know, it's been worthwhile. |

You make a good point. I do wonder if we had a communications strategy and implemented it that we might be able to remove some of the clear ignorance around this situation... Vaccine.. Behaviours... Laws... Consequences... Good sources of information... Bad sources of information... Although too much information is a bad thing we really need to reinforce the message that people are responsible for knowing the rules and sticking to them. |

You are informed of very little at the vaccination appointment, however you are given an information leaflet, unfortunately, not everyone reads them.. |

Johnson is giving a road map next week, for potential progressive releases from restrictions, with the very earliest possible dates for them.
The emphasis will be on the data being the only thing that will drive any of these relaxations, at those later points, once it becomes available.

Everyone's mental health is affected so we should be kind. You dnt have the monopoly on it. Ive spent months not seeing my grandchildren. Weeks at a time indoors alone. No one is bashing you because that makes us as bad. Just a little empathy is a kind thing for everyone |

There may be others in the same situation as you.
This section was set up to help people through the virus. The OP was giving some good information to remind people what we need to be or not doing. Your initial and following posts were not helpful at all. You say you are outspoken. If you are going to be "outspoken" then you should accept people will challenge what you have said. This is what they did and it is allowed
If the forum is getting to you in whatever way then maybe log off or enjoy another part of the site instead |
