just read on NME.com that New York are thinking about letting music venues open at 10 per cent capacity by end of month.. now this is an area i work in so i have vested interest. What do you think.. do you want to see this socially distanced.. temperature check.. negative test approach to going out to get economy going in this country or wait til social distancing is lifted?

"It sounds rubbish to me, a mostly empty hall, then the artists will want to ramp up ticket prices and the venue ramp up cost of drinks.

I miss going to the cinema like I did in August. I had work lined up for Xmas shows (event security) but it was all cancelled
the Newyork idea will have everyone masked too... would make my job a billion times harder was hard enough getting people to wear them at Trafford centre

Irving Azoff and Live Nation will be fried financially with such small returns on such small crowds.
It's the end of live music for the truly big musical acts. |

I've been to a couple of social distance gigs and it was ace just to hear live music again.
And also nice to feel like you are supporting the artist/venue if only in a little way.

we were supposed to work on the stormzy asian tour last year. we were told a year ago today that the tour was cancelled due to covid. although a return to live performance would be fantastic i feel that it is a high risk environment for super spreading and perhaps it is best not to rush things. |

Well, the organisers have a duty of care to ensure the health and wellbeing of their personnel, artists and guests.
Provided they comply with all measures from their local HSE or equivalent, and introduce additional measures such as pre-screening guests, proof of vaccination, distancing on site, etc they *might* be ok.
But "Covid Secure" does not mean "Covid Proof".
So if a guest does fall ill, then whilst proving that they caught it at the venue will be difficult, a court would look at balance of probabilities and if a couple of things were not being followed on site during the event as stringently as they should, they could side with the plaintiff.
As a result, I expect Public Liability Insurance to go through the roof, rendering anything but the largest concerts unviable. |

If they can make money at 10% capacity and it is safe to do so, then why not. It has been an industry that has taken a massive hit.
Online events are good for the artists, it the crew and all the others in the industry that are still struggling. About 25% of the total quoted capacity for Glastonbury are workers tickets in one form or another.

I want full venues and to spend the whole concert jumping up and down with a load of other people. That said I’m hope the Flaming lips get over with their bubbles as I’ve tickets for July |
