Having meekly accepted that the government can ban you from going abroad, forbid you from leaving home except for essential journeys. Make it illegal to meet your friends or open your business. Don't be surprised, in a couple of years time, when they tell you that, to save the planet, you can no longer take a foreign holiday. That you can only use your car for essential journeys.

When you see what they are willing to ban for a risk to 0.6% of the population with an average age over 80, just imagine the rules they will enforce to "save us all from extinction".

Your proposition falls at the simple conclusion that you have drawn about the sum total of the health problem from Sars-Cov-2. This virus causes major health problems way in excess of the tragedy of c. 100,000 lives lost.

Like all diseases, most recover quickly (ebola, I grant you, is an exception), a tiny minority take longer. Of course if you're confined to a 1 bedroom flat during lock down then your recovery is not going to be stellar, even from a cold. This is largely government trying to find another way to convince the young that covid is any threat to them.

My brother was 35. This thing is real. Younger people are also getting ill. I realise now how lucky I was that covid didn't take me with my additional health conditions.

My granddaughter became ill just before Christmas and asked my daughter for a Covid test, because she didn't want to see me and potentially make me very ill.

She tested positive and they isolated all over Christmas.

Some young children care about their older relatives.

You should come and work in a care home for a week and see the devastating effects covid has!! Not just on the elderly residents but young healthy team members unable the breath on ventilators!! Watch family members collapse at the front door as you tell them your so sorry your loved one has passed away!!! Imagine the fear and stress those working there go through everyday! The reality of covid is there and will remain there until ppl realise it's not a joke!! Lock us down and keep us locked down until at least 80% of the population has a vaccine.

Getting back to the original topic. No doubt next time we have poor air quality in London, instead of the usual advice for vulnerable people to shut their windows and avoid hard exercise, they will ban all but essential car journeys for a minimum of two weeks and then decide whether they they might relax the rules a little.

The next time there is a heatwave, they will ban all non essential flights until the temperature comes back down below 15 degrees. As we head in to autumn they will start to ease restrictions pointing to how quickly the temperatures came down once people stuck to the rules.

My Experience

29 year old been in hospital for 3 months now on a vent

37 year old recovering at home after being in hospital is now trying to learn how to walk again

46 year old in hospital not in ICU but her kids are in care as she’s a single parent

60 year old contracted it gave it to her dad whom she buried last week

7 year old contracted gave it to both grandparents who died

Soooo no direct deaths there but just look at the devastation to these ‘people who won’t die’

I have so many things I want to say to you but you’re not worth the ban.

I don't image they would enforce any laws to prevent your extinction. DBNC may be placed on your cert if anyone was interested.

Not even about the deaths its the strain on NHS, 40000 in hospital with covid which means 40000 people who need hospital for something else are not getting treatment, so when they say 100000 deaths from covid add about 30000 extra caused by lack of treatment because somebody wants a piss up

Thing is when you've lost someone close to it... The patience to debate is hard to find. Oh my freedom oh my car oh my holiday oh my selfish needs.... Granted theres a need for balance but nobody is going to tell me that an avoidable death of someone I loved should be debated. Let's all stop spreading it sooner then we cna get back to a better place. The irony of all the freedom fighters actions is they just elongate this for everyone.

They are predicting 2 degrees of warming by the end of the century. I've moved from London to Paris. Now Paris is on average 2 degrees warmer than London and, spoiler alert, it's actually better. I'm afraid however that you will be long dead before you get to experience it. Unless of course you go out of your way to travel somewhere warmer, which ironically, is what a larger number of brits pay to do, even at the height of the British summer.

As for the curfew you quote, I caught a TGV from Paris at 7:39am, which thanks to the wonderful French rail system, got me to Aix en Provence at 10:40. No rules broken I'm happy to report. From there to the coast in a rental car.

You’ve simply changed your postcode we could all do that look I’m in France too "

That part is true but by turning your location services on will give you an accurate location.

Which he has done. Now my geography is rubbish but he's 600 miles away from me, pretty sure that means he isn't in England

Now why doesn't that surprise me

Same posting 'style' as another covid denier on here?

Who will no doubt be supporting Essex boy some time..

They always slip up when location says they are in one place and they say they are in another...one would forget who one was eh

Apology accepted.

For what?

Suggesting I was not where I said I was, but that seems to be a metaphor for the way people dismiss what people are saying as lies until their nose is actually rubbed in it."

You haven’t addressed my post listing the people who’s lives have been destroyed by covid ... or doesn’t the truth fit your narrative?

I propose that we cull all the over 70s and perform health checks on the rest of the population to determine if they have underlying health conditions that will make them susceptible to Covid-19, if they do then cull them as well. We can't allow the "weak" to threaten our way of life like they have done! Who knows maybe in the future we can go full "Logan's Run" and get people to willingly top themselves on their 30th birthday, a society full of only the young and healthy, what a dream!!

Never mind the fact that the elderly are the ones that have built society, paid for the NHS and everything else with their lifetimes taxes, how dare they think they can benefit now they need help, we're not that kind of society! We're the kind of society that take what we can from people then fuck them off when they can't contribute....or are we? Well some certainly are! The only thing that keeps me going is reminding myself that the majority of people are kind and caring, it's just that the selfish minority are louder and in your face.

"Your proposition falls at the simple conclusion that you have drawn about the sum total of the health problem from Sars-Cov-2.

This is largely government trying to find another way to conjvince the young that covid is any threat to them."

Eeeerm

I dont think you've been reading the stats and discussions between media or government.

Not all recover quickly.

I keep seeing 95-99% that not true at all.

Some recover but endup returning for various issues which was related to them catching covid.

Another group go back because covid has caused other issues organ failures, underlying issues made worse.

Then there's long COVID-19.

So no its not true theres quiet a percentage still suffering or have to return to hospital for medical intervention.

I dont think anyone has quantified that percentage because they're too busy dealing with prevention and first time treatment.

[...]next time we have poor air quality in London, instead of the usual advice for vulnerable people to shut their windows and avoid hard exercise, they will ban all but essential car journeys for a minimum of two weeks[...]"

These are all excellent ideas. Although they don't go far enough, they should be implemented immediately.

It's easy to put a fake location in using the fake location app or similar one. Takes 2 mins to do and you can place yourself anywhere in the world, so location is no proof.

Getting back to the original post. There is one thing all the conspiracy theorists need to answer for me. How did the conspirators get all world governments on both sides of the political spectrum, and the few remaining dictators or single party systems, to all agree to the conspiracy and act in very similar ways with very similar restrictions, actions and lockdowns? I am interested.

I think you will find most of us have more on our minds than your fantastic account of your logistical enterprise to circumnavigate the restrictions that are in place to save life for your own personal gratification (just because you have an I'm alright Jack attitude)..

And if the world's governments finally decide to take on the issue of climate change then hopefully we, and our children, will actually have somewhere to enjoy life again when we get through this mess

If you have an android phone that has been rooted then in principle it's not that hard to hack the location services. The kernel source code is freely available, android is basically a phone/tablet application built on top of linux (yes I know, grossly oversimplifying here). Just got to find the GPS data decoding module, modify to take position data from a file instead, fix up with timestamps from phone clock, recompile everything and load the new software image into the phone. Then you've got a phone that will tell people that you're absolutely anywhere that you want it to.

Note: Considerably harder with an iphone.

"Having meekly accepted that the government can ban you from going abroad, forbid you from leaving home except for essential journeys. Make it illegal to meet your friends or open your business. Don't be surprised, in a couple of years time, when they tell you that, to save the planet, you can no longer take a foreign holiday. That you can only use your car for essential journeys.

When you see what they are willing to ban for a risk to 0.6% of the population with an average age over 80, just imagine the rules they will enforce to "save us all from extinction"."

This is not about ignore the rules and don't worry about the deaths, is it?

This is about the future and what future governments might do to enforce other natural disasters. Here we talk about ICU's overflowing and dead family members in care homes and hospitals this is the the reasons to keep us subjugated.

What about families losing lives and homes due to rising water from global warming, the government might think it's justified to use restrictions to combat this.

Interesting thought.

Your assuming then that the UK is going to become a one party state and that an election at the latest every 5 years will be no longer the case.

Accepted that their is little difference between the main two core political parties (Labour and Conservative) there is enough of a difference and who knows another political force with a different vision could well rise much like the original Labour Party did when the only choice was Conservative and Liberal.

For all its bad points the UK is not China or the increasingly dictatorial one state Russia.

Boris Johnson is not locking up political rivals, we are not even at the risky level that the USA recently faced with insurrection from gun toting rednecks.

We have not as yet reached the point of curfew such as in France or Holland.

The World will have to change though. Anyone who thinks that climate change (from whatever source) is not happening is burying their head in the sand, i an seeing it in action in this small part of the world where i live and a lot of it is caused by Man.

Surely its easy to understand that if i think there’s little difference between the two then both would take the steps necessary maybe a slightly different route.

Starmer has so far been broadly supportive of lockdown measures, am not so sure the previous Labour leader would have been and i suspect he would have been more a dithered than Johnson.

For the record i have as yet never voted for a Tory candidate in any General or Local election.

When you see what they are willing to ban for a risk to 0.6% of the population with an average age over 80, just imagine the rules they will enforce to "save us all from extinction".

"I think you will find most of us have more on our minds than your fantastic account of your logistical enterprise to circumnavigate the restrictions that are in place to save life for your own personal gratification (just because you have an I'm alright Jack attitude)..

And if the world's governments finally decide to take on the issue of climate change then hopefully we, and our children, will actually have somewhere to enjoy life again when we get through this mess "

I'm not circumnavigating the restrictions, what I am doing is perfectly legal. The french government are happy for you to even go on a skiing holiday if you want. I cancelled mine for this week because I didn't want to walk up to ski down.

While I agree the government has totally fucked this up instead of keeping things simple (maybe a total lockdown and closure of travel completely last feb for a month or something instead of the teir bullshit) yes it could be a weapon that's escape from China or planted by America (or the other 100s of conspiracies) I cant really argue with 17 cases at my very own workplace and 2 DEATHS . Yes I'm frustrated too even more so about this lockdown til july now but what can you do?

Not really, deaths from natural disasters have been falling decade on decade, 500,000 per year in the 1920s, mostly from drought, last couple of decades more like 60,000 per year mostly from earthquakes.

“..... Soooo no direct deaths there but just look at the devastation to these ‘people who won’t die.....”

True, quite devastating.

Shows that death is not the only consequence of contracting covid.

I remember reading an article in early autumn that something like half of the Covid cases from that time had their origins in Spain.

Well to apply the same "fuck you, you deserve it for being old or vulnerable" logic as many seem to be applying to covid... You may well say "fuck you for buying a house on a flood plain or near the sea or in a tourist hotspot". To those who are affected by global warming.

Ah, back on topic, they would ban holidays because of the co2 emissions generated by flying. The provisional wing of Greenpeace, ie XR, have already suggested restricting people to one flight per year.

Out of interest has anybody looked at the relative co2 emissions for things in our lives... Such as power stations, industrial plants, car manufacture and distribution, personal car travel, air travel, logistics companies and so on...

I wonder how much is contributed by personal car travel.

"Your proposition falls at the simple conclusion that you have drawn about the sum total of the health problem from Sars-Cov-2.

This is largely government trying to find another way to conjvince the young that covid is any threat to them.

I dont think anyone has quantified that percentage because they're too busy dealing with prevention and first time treatment."

RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS IN METROPOLITAN FRANCE

A nightly curfew is currently in force in metropolitan France. Between 6PM and 6AM you may only leave your residence for the following reasons and with an exemption certificate:

Commuting to and from work, school or training place; carrying out essential business trips that cannot be postponed;

Medical appointments that cannot be carried out remotely or postponed;

Essential family reasons, assisting vulnerable persons, persons in a precarious situation or taking care of children;

Persons with a disability and their accompanying person;

Judicial or administrative summons;

Participating in a mission of general interest upon request from an administrative authority;

Air or rail transit related to long distance journeys;

Walking a pet outdoors within 1km of one’s place of residence and for a brief amount of time."

I agree those are the restrictions. I have a house in France and not been there since last March but I see reports from groups on Facebook of all the Parisians who visit 2nd homes or go on holiday every time new restrictions come in. They don’t care about spreading Covid.

A nightly curfew is currently in force in metropolitan France. Between 6PM and 6AM you may only leave your residence for the following reasons and with an exemption certificate:

Commuting to and from work, school or training place; carrying out essential business trips that cannot be postponed;

Medical appointments that cannot be carried out remotely or postponed;

Essential family reasons, assisting vulnerable persons, persons in a precarious situation or taking care of children;

Persons with a disability and their accompanying person;

Judicial or administrative summons;

Participating in a mission of general interest upon request from an administrative authority;

Air or rail transit related to long distance journeys;

Walking a pet outdoors within 1km of one’s place of residence and for a brief amount of time.

I agree those are the restrictions. I have a house in France and not been there since last March but I see reports from groups on Facebook of all the Parisians who visit 2nd homes or go on holiday every time new restrictions come in. They don’t care about spreading Covid. "

I quote:

Certificates will be necessary to travel by night. “Starting December 15, you can travel freely from one region to the other” Prime Minister Jean Castex said during his latest press brief. Sayings confirmed once again by the head of government on December 10, as long as curfew is followed.

"

When you see what they are willing to ban for a risk to 0.6% of the population with an average age over 80, just imagine the rules they will enforce to "save us all from extinction".

Average age is 59 now BTW"

But that doesn't suit the narrative at all...

"Your proposition falls at the simple conclusion that you have drawn about the sum total of the health problem from Sars-Cov-2.

This is largely government trying to find another way to conjvince the young that covid is any threat to them.

“...... theres quiet a percentage still suffering or have to return to hospital for medical intervention....”

————————-

That’s true. Some who escape death (from covid) never make a full recovery.

Remind me again how that is different from practically any other illness.

There is a *big difference* between recovering from a cold and trying to recover from covid. Not sure why you need that explained to you.

I'm sure there are plenty of people in their 80's who catch a cold and die. A colleague of mine caught flu which ended up damaging his heart valves which he had to have replaced."

“...... I'm sure there are plenty of people in their 80's who catch a cold and die....”

————————-

Are we talking about those in their 80s, or are we talking about those who are younger who don’t die of covid, but face long term health issues which prolongs their recover ?

As usual, when you can’t address a question put to you, you attempt to distract / deflect.

Ah, back on topic, they would ban holidays because of the co2 emissions generated by flying. The provisional wing of Greenpeace, ie XR, have already suggested restricting people to one flight per year."

1 flight...lol brilliant..."off you fuck" is the phrase...as 1 flight equals no return trip....

I am no longer going to try to reason with the unreasonable!

Chuckling to myself throughout this whole thread.

‘I’m more aggrieved’

‘No, I’M more aggrieved’

‘Well I’m even MORE aggrieved than both of you’

Fucks sake just be nice to people, even if you don’t agree with them.

That's the direction of travel clearly. Of course the great and the good, the rich, important and the powerful will be either exempt or insulated from the restrictions the rest of us will face either in law or by virtue of their wealth, jobs, powerful mates or whatever.

it's actually. A fact that has been published since 2010...trend is actually downwards as newer enforcements come into play. It's not simply pollution from. Hydrocarbons as many think we also have regular Radon escapes in certain areas when eejits after quick buck falsify their search results..

have to say your elquamce is lost on most of us, as the standout point appears to be a rant on your behalf. Your marhs is debatable and from a personal standpoint I'll stock to Chris Witty the man who halted Ebola in its tracks over some Google Expert... To anyone working in NHS or Key Worker role... "Just asking for a bit of advice here.

Is it allowed for one poster have two different accounts on here as a single person?"

Not if you are using it to deceive no but then neither is outing someone on the forum by saying they are another person and naming that person

It is best to report and let Admin check it out or you could end up on a name and shame ban

Ok lets put this to bed, can I remind people that you can't attack others when you post, neither can you discuss a persons profile unless they have asked for it.
