Please no attacking others for their right to choose " Can I just challenge the term "many" "many" is often used to suggest alot if not the majority of people. The basis of the story is actual one care home. "One care home owner said half of his staff..." I think it's important to emphasise that millions offered have had it with little in the way of side effects apart from a few with allergies getting a rash.

"Unbelievable. I say I've had the vaccine then get strangers messaging me questioning why I should have got it. I'd have thought it was obvious if I've had it I'm in one of the priority groups." Had something similar from a completely random person on here who has never engaged in debate in any of these threads, it was a bit conspiracy theorist but nonetheless the place for such things is in the open forum..

Please no attacking others for their right to choose " Firstly, I suspect that the number of carers who are refusing the vaccine is not "that high", and will probably reduce as it becomes obvious that there's no adverse effects. Secondly, I would guess that people employed in care homes will probably find they are compelled by their employer, or risk having no work. Ultimately though, the more people that have it, the safer it will be for everyone... including those who don't have it. Cal

"Seeing as the rushed out swine flu vaccine (Pandemrix) a few years ago ended in disaster, its a definite NO !!!" I'm not aware of this "disaster" so just had a Google and it appears to have been a success with 300 people in 90 million having serious side effects. As I say, not something that I was or am aware of so might keep looking. Still happy to be vaccinated though.

"Seeing as the rushed out swine flu vaccine (Pandemrix) a few years ago ended in disaster, its a definite NO !!!" As a 57 year old male who I assume is of average height and weight based on your profile and also the assumption of no underlying health conditions, you have about a 1 in 7,800 chance of dying with covid in the next 90 days or just under 1 in 2000 chance of dying in 2021. Of course, covid isn't just about dying. It's about the hospital admission and the assumption you will get the care you need to survive. You have about a 1 in 300 chance of ending up in hospital this year with covid. Also, long covid. Overall probably not too much to worry about. Pandemrix was association with increase in narcolepsy. Something with around 1 incident per 18,400 doses. Source of risk qcovid dot org

"I had my first dose yesterday. Would have rather given it to my more vulnerable father (would stop the worry), but I know it doesn't work like that. Some minor issues in that I now have a slightly swollen and sore arm, also can't raise it very well. Happy to do my bit. " That'll pass in a day or 2.

"I wont have it. I am not against vaccination in general, it is just that, how rushed this one is with no time for the testing of it. It has been tested. No it hasnt.do your research." I will have it. To answer the original question. And yes it has been tested. Saying it hasn't is untrue. Be specific which test do you believe it has not had? Clearly it's not had longitudinal testing as no new product can be produced that has longitudinal testing. It has been tested far more than alcohol was before it was released and made legal, but everyone seems happy to consume alcohol knowing it is far more dangerous than any vacinne ever produced.

"Nay, Once we feel that its safe for our family we will not be having the vaccine, work have already said there maybe consequences for Lou if she does not have it. At the moment the process for having this vaccine feels like walking down the street and having a group of people surround us and tell us you must, you must, you must have it and shoving a clipboard under our noses to sign, its all just overwhelming, we realise some are dying from it but we want to feel safe ourselves that we are making the right choice." surely if thats how you feel you ignore what everyone is telling you and go do your own research instead of just refusing the vaccine

I will be having it even though I probably have antibodies after surviving a week in hospital with it but this is my choice, if I was told I have to be vaccinated then I would have to think about it because it should be every individuals choice and not forced onto anyone

"Seeing as the rushed out swine flu vaccine (Pandemrix) a few years ago ended in disaster, its a definite NO !!!" That's a bloody good reason not to have it. It was a rushed through vaccine with minimal testing. But that's not my reason, I'm not having it because I choose not to, simple as that. My own immune system is an amazing thing. Me and my immune system will take our chances with the 99.3% survival rate.

All evidence indicates it has gone through the same 3 stage trials as any other vaccine in use or development. This whole immune system argument is a load of crap, you can’t know how your body will react to any disease or illness, that’s a fact. Also, sick to death of hearing this 99.3% survival rate because it’s actually just bullshit. You can survive but still suffer long term health issues from covid, which you may never recover from. So stop believing all the conspiracy shite you read on the internet and look up some real factual information

However, with any decision comes consequences and a degree of responsibility and accountability .. At the very least I would be expecting anyone not getting or agreeing to be vaccinated to go through rigorous testing for anything involving mixing with the general population again after this .for example certain in BDS of jobs and careers and also access to social buildings pubs restaurants etc . Otherwise frankly it just would not be fair to those who were willing to risk their own health in order to try and get the world turning again . That's my opinion of course and I'm happy and feel I'm thinking in the right way about this . Not wanting to start an argument and idiots replying will be ignored .

It is completely about the opposite of that .. the weak and the old who can't survive or have a worse chance of it . That's why people are agreeing to the restrictions the vaccine all of it .. refusing is frankly just showing a selfish streak and a complete disregard towards putting everything back in its feet ..I think it's high time people actually tried to understand that ..

"She is unsure, but will have it, I don't want to just yet but feel that to do anything in the future I will have to have it... Even though it doesn't IMMEDIATELY stop you getting it, doesn't IMMEDIATELY stop you passing it on, and seems more and more likely that it won't IMMEDIATELY put a stop to the majority of restrictions in place." i fixed that for you ... the long term plan is still that once enough people have had both injections it will for the most part achieve all 3 but that takes time
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) |
"I possibly want to have it, but not yet. Problem is that I will be offered it soon due to chronic illness and disability, and if I don't take it when offered, I then have to wait until it's widely available. So, decision time soon." I'm not sure if this will be helpful in your decision making or not but I was talking to a friend whose husband is reluctant to take it. She asked him if he got covid and had to go to hospital and got seriously sick would he say yes to receiving any drug they could give him to increase his chance of survival. He answered yes so she said then why not take a tested vaccine that could prevent you from getting sick in the 1st place. So maybe just something to consider.

"I wont have it. I am not against vaccination in general, it is just that, how rushed this one is with no time for the testing of it." It was given Emergency status. It hasn’t been rushed through at all. All stages of clinical trial have run concurrently to enable it to come to fruition sooner. No corners have been cut, nothing has been left out. Volunteers in the trial are monitored going forward. None have shown a reason to believe it has adverse effects. Without a vaccine we will roll in and out of lockdown forever, there will be covid across the whole world still, people will continue to die.... in huge numbers If you chose not to have that is your choice but you will remain susceptible, as will those who also decline. There will still be a virus breeding amongst you.... it’s a Russian Roulette high risk

And do do a huge percentage of the population ..face facts ..look if I'm wrong then fair enough but I'll state this as a defence .. I shouldn't have to be in the same place as someone who could potentially make me or my elderly relatives sick If someone wants to be in the same place as me then they need to have the same bill if health as me .. otherwise I think that's both selfish and potentially a danger to my health . Now those are my feelings .. Let's look at the government .. They kind of agree with me and are making it pretty clear that if you don't get immunity from Covid your life is likely to alter a bit in the future .. Most people want the green light to get in with their lives and whether anyone likes it ,objects to it or runs off crying about it .. the country won't open up again without it . So refusing it is actually damaging everyone just a bit Isn't it ?

"I'd have it when/if my turn arrives. We may different variants of the vaccine by then or maybe it's become less of a threat or it might be even worse. We don't know what's around the corner. There might even be another unrelated virus emerge and those who have had this one might be the fortunate ones that it doesn't effect as much as those who forgo it." That is my thinking to be honest and I'd rather the possibility of having some protection than none.

I used an analogy. Lots of people with apparently healthy immune systems, who've never so much sneezed in their lives are finding out, to their costs, that an entirely new infectious disease, that no-one had ever encountered until approx Nov 2019 (in China), is actually something to be reckoned with. Every infectious disease that's been circulating for decades, you had at least passive exposure to via the placenta before you were even born. Perhaps more exposure still if you were breastfed. And you have encountered many other viruses, bacteria etc at low levels which have primed your immune system. However, when something entirely new comes along, your immune system has an uphill battle and so, potentially, even the healthiest can be struck down.

"Yep. I was originally concerned with how it was made so quickly, but did some research and now understand it was not rushed, but was just done very efficiently and with as much testing as any other vaccines. It may have some long term side effects, but so does Covid and I'd prefer to put my trust in science. " the most sensible post I’ve seen ... totally natural to have reservations before knowing the facts ... we compare things to what we know and we didn’t have experience of seeing vaccines released so quickly ... but a little bit of research should alleviate those concerns rather than what i frequently read which is its been rushed so I’m not having it end of discussion

"When you look back and see outright lies and damage done to people like this link from the British medical journal it’s not something I’d consider lightly https://www.bmj.com/content/362/bmj.k3948" The MHRA specifically stated that any vaccine receiving emergency approval (as the Covid ones have) must still satisfy all the usual regulatory hoops. Pandemrix was given emergency approval after bypassing some of the usual controls and so highlights exactly why the controls cannot be skipped.

I'm guessing you're aware from the previous pandemic like the swine flu the damage it caused from a vaccine yet amount of prescribed medication kills people slowly all known to carry some type of disease and as Nostradamus stated their will be no vaccine made that would be a cure I'll stick with him and the virus is coming back in 10 years after it has decided to go maybe between this time they'll be an accurate vaccine that isn't going to be harmful mind you Nostradamus has never been wrong when you look back at history....

"I doubt I'll be having it because before this virus was announced beginning of the year I had similar symptoms around Oct Nov year before like many apparently my immune system is very strong so strong I rarely get a cold or flu years can go back before I catch them and don't last long because my immune system fights back so wouldn't be putting loved ones at risk either from experience plus I'm very careful and have been throughout this pandemic and I eat enough goodness most won't understand but this helps to build your immune system barrier Nah I shall not be... Good luck with that approach. That's like saying you'll take a dip in the crocodile infested river, but it's fine, because you're a good swimmer and you'll outswim the crocs He doesn’t have to put swim the crocs, just the other people at the swim party... I'm guessing you're aware from the previous pandemic like the swine flu the damage it caused from a vaccine yet amount of prescribed medication kills people slowly all known to carry some type of disease and as Nostradamus stated their will be no vaccine made that would be a cure I'll stick with him and the virus is coming back in 10 years after it has decided to go maybe between this time they'll be an accurate vaccine that isn't going to be harmful mind you Nostradamus has never been wrong when you look back at history...." So ignore real science now yet put faith in some bloke who essentially covered every possible scenario of every probable outcome.. Ok..

Good luck with that approach. That's like saying you'll take a dip in the crocodile infested river, but it's fine, because you're a good swimmer and you'll outswim the crocs But I never said anything about that I could swim but for putting it out there I can't but everyone is made differently it's not about acting careless it's just we know ourselves better my doctor is surprised with my medical records how healthy I am with a very young outlook if you have a weak immune system then it's a reason to take advantage Do you understand what an analogy is? I used an analogy. Lots of people with apparently healthy immune systems, who've never so much sneezed in their lives are finding out, to their costs, that an entirely new infectious disease, that no-one had ever encountered until approx Nov 2019 (in China), is actually something to be reckoned with. Every infectious disease that's been circulating for decades, you had at least passive exposure to via the placenta before you were even born. Perhaps more exposure still if you were breastfed. And you have encountered many other viruses, bacteria etc at low levels which have primed your immune system. However, when something entirely new comes along, your immune system has an uphill battle and so, potentially, even the healthiest can be struck down." I'll happily take my chances and I'll wish you well with your vaccination genetics and genes have a huge part to play in the human body and lifestyles and amount of prescribed medication is killing millions or billions through the same industry causing illnesses cancer was a man made illness same way rest have been through prescription drugs known fact

"What gets me, are the actual figures for year ending 2019 for influenza,. Deaths, 34,200 Hospitalizations 494,600 Bear in mind that's with a vaccine program as well Do you find these figures acceptable I certainly don't But nobody seems to kick up any fuss about this. " Source?????? Load of bullshit.

" genes have a huge part to play in the human body " A huge part to play? Genes encode every single tiny little thing that makes up the human body, plus all the commensal microorganisms that we cannot function without. Yes, there can be external influence upon some traits (like weight - partly genetic influence, much is environmental). But no matter, for example, what you eat or think or believe, you can't change your HLA type (which dictates your immune system), your red blood cell type or frankly many aspects of what constitutes a healthy, functional body. You can have the healthiest diet and lifestyle in the world, but if you have one copy of the BRCA1 gene, the chances of one developing breast or uterine cancer is fantastically higher than those without that mutation. For comparison, lifetime risk for breast cancer is 12.5% but rises to 60-90% for people with the mutated gene. These people cannot eat or train or pray themselves from developing cancer, because it's substantially dictated by their genes. Going back to HLA type, this is one probable reason why there's so many differing outcomes for Covid, despite apparent similarities in gender, age or other risk factors. The inherent genetic coding of the immune system is more than likely the reason. Genes aren't just important. They are us.

How many times have his end of world predictions come true? And now does a man who died in 1566 make predictions about a technology that did not exist in his lifetime? Variolation was in it's infancy in the Far East in his life but was not introduced to Europe until about 200yrs after his death. The first vaccine in the way we accept now (inducing immunity by using a weaker form or inactivated form of a pathogen) was done by Edward Jenner on Thomas Phipps in 1796. Obviously Nostradamus' predictive powers re: vaccines also failed him on the subject of smallpox, which was eradicated thanks to mass vaccination across the world.

Hardly a surprise you going to get the vaccine. Maybe some of those Nays need to wake up and realise that the ones on here that make educated comments are Yes. I'm terms of testing, out of the top 10 trials ever conducted in terms of participants, 5 of them have been for covid vaccines. But, for some, they haven't been tested enough??!? Unbelievable.
