European countries mandate medical-grade masks over home-made cloth face coverings.
Have mostly but not always used the N95. Time to use it all the time I think. |

I hope they have their supply chains worked out to keep up with demand otherwise its straight back into mask shortages for their medical staff
Although I do think every one of the medical staff should have respirator helmets, my local a&e staff all wear them now |

Yup if you bear in mind they are mostly single use. Very expensive too. |

Agree. I only wear medical grade masks. Unfortunately a lot of people now see a face covering as a fashion item and bling them up. Bloody ridiculous ?? |

I see it as resources versus need.
My need, my risk, my exposure, is very low. I distance, I'm not in high risk work, I go out basically once a week. I have cloth face coverings.
Someone in high risk work, or who's out a lot, or who's higher risk, or who can't social distance, definitely more of a case for medical grade masks.
In the event of a shortage my need for medical grade material is lower. |

In Bavaria (Germany) they will be mandating FFP2 masks in shops and on all public transport from Monday. |

Wanting to get their unions involved about these new mask claims. |

I seen a news report in germany last night...I had the sound off so dont really know what it was about, but they were interviewing in a town and the one thing I noticed was everyone was wearing N95 masks... |

Do you mean they work in a mask factory? Or that they work in a place where they have been told to wear masks? |

It's an interesting progression and perhaps odd that some more companies didn't get to ramp up production even more. With areas in Germany and France looking at this, I assume it will stretch wider.
We're slow to move here, as much as it becomes clearer that what we're doing is typically inadequate.
Health staff supplies are priority for these. It's reasonable that effective masks will better support suppression of infection levels though. It depends on how truly committed our leaders are. |

"Then you have the very real issue of mask poverty. People can barely afford food at the moment, let alone the added expense of single use masks."
I very much doubt the supply is out there yet in this country to do this. |

They will, unfortunately. I've seen some absolutely vile "single use" masks that were originally blue, but are now some shade of brown or grey after multiple uses. |

My work brought this in two weeks ago. You can wear cloth all you want but you wear a medical grade covering as well. You move round the office without one and you get asked to leave. No ifs no buts.
All supplied with plenty of stock.

Why is it ridiculous. It's not as though your medical mask will protect you any better than a price of gauze. Masks are to minimise you passing on the virus so by all means you have expensive quality ones on to protect others |

They work in a factory, they've always had to wear masks but are making a fuss about what's been said about the mask policy. They are provided with them.also so personally don't really get what their issues are.
It may be more to do with the supply of better grade masks at a guess. |

I have been thinking that since the beginning, nhs staff should wear hazmat suits. I understand it could be to stop scaring the patients, but what about looking after them. |

Yeah if the company provides them maybe they are asking staff to reuse them to save money. |
