Masks ?? in public..
Jump to: Newest in thread
Guy walked into my local Sainsbury's with a crash helmet on one hand, his phone in the other hand - chatting with his partner.
Chap working for Sainsbury's asks about a lack of mask. Guy says 'I'm exempt'.
That's it.
Any wonder UK ???? has such a bad record compared to the world ???.
My 2p is that the ???? Government (conservative) have cut police ?? for so many years, there are not enough of the thin blue line available to guard against idiots.
That's before we get close to talking about taking control of our borders/fish/financial service industry that powers more than any other.
If people cannot respect their fellow country person, what chance anyone else.
Uk may well be stupid AND institutionally racist.
May I respectfully ask of your thoughts.
No abuse please |

Your comments on the government are abusive so you encourage abuse.
I hear that Morrisons are the best at enforcing mask riles having security on the doors
So will change to there to shop although have to go another 5 miles to get there |

I respectfully disagree with your opinion, but, wish you nothing but the best luck in all things.
May I humbly suggest a little luck and love for a fellow human will see us all through?
I reserve my right to query the wisdom of HM Government.
With all respect, thanks for replying and making your thoughts 'public' |

i went to morrison’s tonight, guy just in front grabbed a basket (didnt wipe it) walked in the door, no mask
security guard just said excuse do you have a mask ... he said no i dont with the tone you could tell was all ready for a fight of they asked him to leave, instead the guard just offered him a blue paper one from a box and the mask went on, guy said thanks ... crisis averted
i think for many of the piss takers its just whatever in life is easier for them ... easier not to bother carrying a mask about, then easier to argue about it than have to leave and go somewhere else, but also easier just to put one on when handed it for free |

My local Morrisons have had security on the doors, plenty of available hand sanitizer and wipes/spray for trolleys/ baskets. Also they have sanitizer available inside the store in a few different places too. By far the best supermarket for Covid control.
Compared to my local Asda, whose hand sanitizer was frequently empty and very lax controls.
Handing out free facemasks is a good idea, as some people will have genuinely forgotten to take one. And others will put it on to avoid embarrassment. Only hardcore anti Maskers will not.
It is the ones not willing to wear one that will be getting targeted. I have never been challenged to prove my daughter's exemption, because her disability is obvious. We aren't currently going shopping though.
A wise guy personal messaged off the forum, saying needing oxygen was a valid reason to not wearing one..that is the kind of mentality that anti Maskers have. They will need oxygen all right if they catch Covid and get hospitalised, oxygen through a tube....

I agree with you that Morrisons is best for Covid control and Asda worst. Last time I went to Asda they weren't cleaning trolleys and the sanitizer was at the exit not the entrance. I won't be going back. |

Strangely enough, my local Asda was the first local supermarket to supply free point of entry masks and sanitisers always available both at point of entry and in store
However, at the Morrisons, the guy was INSISTING to put sanitiser on and my colleague is allergic to Aloe Vera and said she would providing they had a non Aloe Vera one. He actually got quite nasty saying you must put this one on if you're going into the store. We were both wearing face coverings and please, before you start saying we shouldn't be together, we do shops for 12 elderly, infirm people who cannot wear masks or indeed get to the supermarket themselves.
I cannot disagree with the suppling of masks and sanitisers but the security guards attitude was appalling.
We do have a sanitiser in the car but forgot on this occasion.. I went and got it and he really wasn't happy with her using her own. Consequently, the security guard was reported for his attitude (about 8 people witnessed it) and my colleague was allowed in particularly as the sanitiser was compliant (and non Aloe Vera) and the guard was told to get the sanitiser replaced with non Aloe Vera and my colleague was offered £30 voucher.. She declined tbf.
It's not the place of the security staff to have a nasty attitude towards shoppers who do comply, so I'm pretty sure they'd have arguments or inflame a situation that can be avoided. I said months ago that if the supermarkets insist on wearing of face covering or the regulations move to a position where the are compulsory, then masks should be free.
Problems can be avoided by good diplomacy and not bad attitude |

I work in a supermarket and the abuse people are getting is unreal! People should be ashamed of themselves.
I’m exempt from wearing a mask but still wear one as I’d be more to get seriously sick if I did catch it. My health is my responsibility no one else’s.
You’d not turn up to a meet without a condom and still expect sex |

If the crash helmet was fully open faced then fair do's but if it was an enclosed helmet then he's a twat. |

I forgot my mask when I shopped at Morrison’s the other week, however I told them and they offered me a disposable one for free.
I’d rather shop at somewhere that imposes mask wearing to be fair and I get my 10%discount!

They need a fine for false declarations, say £1000, that may make these dickheads think twice.
They don’t give a toss about anyone else so they deserve it. |

Just because he is a smoker does not mean he is not exempt.
There is no list of conditions that make somebody exempt.
Its if you physically can't put on, take off or wear a face covering or if wearing one, taking one off or putting one on causes severe distress.
That's why people who say I am exempt but can wear one so why do isn't actually exempt. |

Really pains me to say it but my tolerance is at an all-time low. I feel now ' for the greater good' we all need to get on this. I just can't go through another year of this total lockdown.
The' I'm exempt' / having a fag people are really getting on my wick because they are usually the first in the queues at A&E when they get a sore chest!
It is so difficult as I believe in the right to free will and all that but really just can't manage to do another year of this .. and sadly I am really starting to resent those who I feel are getting in the way of all of our freedoms .. lab rats or not we have to move on

Not sure I follow you? can you clarify? Before you do..
My take is surely if someone is actively coughing and spluttering their way around the world / potentially being a burden on the NHS etc Who then causes someone to need a hospital bed when they or someone else due to their behaviour and irresponsibility becomes ill .. they are I would say perpetuating the problem? they surely are not doing anything to prevent the problem or protect anyone vulnerable ?
Or have you a different theory? |

No abuse please " I think the proplem is the Conservative government have cut public services to the bone. We don't have the police, and the doctors and nurses we need. People who should be not working are working because there is no support if not furlough, universal credit is a joke. So there is no safety net, a lot of the population are probably a bit brainwashed or just thick and ignorant. Why else does a shambolic government stay in power so long. The media is largely controlled by Rupert Murdoch. We are fucked really, before this started we had the highest levels of inequality in Europe, the highest decline in living standards infant mortality rate was rising year on year and life expectancy has been going down. All they had to do once they knew that vaccines were on the horizon was close the air ports and have a hard lock down for a couple of weeks or even a month. They could have provided support through ubi for those not on furlough. The r rate would have been smashed down to a manageable level. And the domestic economy could be opened up probably fully by now. And the virus would have had less of an environment to mutate into a new strain like it has done. Boris has blood on his hands plain and simple, no doubt it will say so in a history book one day. |

"I work in a supermarket and the abuse people are getting is unreal! People should be ashamed of themselves.
I’m exempt from wearing a mask but still wear one as I’d be more to get seriously sick if I did catch it. My health is my responsibility no one else’s.
You’d not turn up to a meet without a condom and still expect sex "
This is very true! Masks are made to protect others and also to protect us at the same time, as a lot of the time anyway if it’s to go food shopping, you’d be wearing it only for 30 mins so it’s quite an intelligent thought you made
And appealing the attitude of some people who just don’t want to put it on, and say “I’m exempt” totally taking the piss .. It really is no wonder we have the worst numbers
If people take the piss on that (wearing a fucking mask), they probably never follow bigger rules that undermine their “freedom” in the first place.
Last but not least, great idea for shops to provide their own masks in case |
