I was thinking we need a positive / looking forward thread in the virus section.
So my question is -
What has covid really made you miss and want to do when it finally returns to some sort of normal?
For me I have missed live music, gigs & concerts terribly.
Once we are on the other side of covid i.e. hospitality is back in full flow, swinging clubs can operate normally I have decided to do the following.
I am going to take different family members and friends to a gig / concert for an artist they really love.
So far ill be taking K to see Suede (there's an April 21 gig right near her birthday but I'm worried it may be to soon?)
I'm taking my mate Dan to see the libertines and friend James to see The Pixies.
Also ill be taking K's step dad to see Iron Maiden as soon as the possibility arises.
I've a few more folk to consider still.
I guess life is about experiences, I love music and I think this is a good way to make new memories with some of the people I value in my life.
If anyone else has any plans that they want to do post pandemic and is happy to share on this thread please feel free to share

im so glad you didn’t say you would take your family to a swinging club
ill second the gigs and comedy .., i used to do a lot of live comedy before and totally miss it
chances of me saying no to any opportunity to socialise “because ive had a long week” wont happen for ages ... being in my own ive totally taken for granted the freedom and opportunity for social interaction i had before and would turn things down for a quiet night ... dates, dinner, girls night, brunch, spas and travel ... ill be doing it all ... hoping for our version of the roaring 20s |

I miss being able to just drop in to a pub after a hike on the spur of the moment if we wanted to.
It's not a big thing at all, pretty small compared even to some other things I miss, but for some reason I really feel it. |

Stand at a Bar and talk bollox, I know some would say I talk bollox anyway, but there is something philosophical about talking bollox mid afternoon at the Bar. |

Travelling. Just randomly deciding to go away at the weekend. Throw some clothes in a bag and sod off.
Sitting in a coffee shop watching the world go by.
Getting dressed up and going for a long leisurely meal.
I've tentatively booked Scotland for September and Berlin for December. |

I miss my home island where my profile picture was taken (if anyone recognises the background).
Last year was the first in my 75 year life when I wasn't there at some time or other.
Didn't go to the coast here either but not a big deal in comparison, although I normally like to go down to the Bexhill area on 21st March to welcome the Sun back north of the Equator for the next glorious six months. On the 20th the first lockdown was announced! |

We miss a) waking up in our medieval pavilion, going around in medieval clothes & charging around battlefields.
And b) arriving in a random car park & being started at as we check our steampunk outfits are perfect in the car windows, before wandering off to join our fellow weirdos.
Funny the little things we miss... |

I just missed being carefree.
Not being able to just pop out because I want to, or go and see a friend.
We are definitely looking forward to group socials and travelling again. |

The two main things are hugs and going to see stand up comedy. As soon as its possible I want to go the Edinburgh festival, staying at my mate's flat where we stay up late eating junk food, being silly and laughing |

Freedom. And I don’t mean as in I feel my rights have been impinged unnecessarily. I mean I miss my freedom to just do spur of the moment stuff like hop a flight out for the weekend or go to London on the train for a wander
I miss spontaneity. |

Some great things that people are looking forward to doing both the big but all some of the little things we took for granted for so long. In fact this thread has been cathartic for me this evening so thank you to everyone who has posted so far.
I can almost small the farmer markets one poster talked about and like another I cant wait to get back to swimming. I'm not religious at all but there's something to be said for spending time in the water, for me it cleanses the mind as well as the body.
Some people mentioned hugging. I wasn't brought up with hugging and was your classic awkward hugger, i would have make Pete Capaldis Doctor look positively comfortable in comparison. Since meeting K though that has changed dramatically and like many I also miss hugging some of the people I care about. Thankfully my 2 month old son and wife give great hugs. My heart goes out to all those unable to do so atm x

There is actually nothing that I miss - I moved into a new house in a new country shortly before the pandemic started. I worked around the world before and I was tiring of that anyway and was more than happy to stay and enjoy my new home and surroundings and cats, when they're not squabbling. I am looking forward to seeing some sports events and concerts and exploring further afield and learning to ski. |

You certainly were!
I think its oxytocin which can also be released from stroking our pets.
I am pretty sure its what K says both parent and newborn baby get from skin to skin contact.
