Was pondering something.
As more people get vaccinated, it follows ,less people will get tested because they won’t show symptoms but could still be carriers. I’m assuming in time, the only positive covid results will be predominantly unvaccinated people?
What’s others thoughts on this? |

i thought this, i thought it would also follow that some of the test space could gradually be flipped to vaccine space as its already set up for social distance / large volumes etc |

The more people get vaccinated, the less folk will become infected. If the infection rate drops enough, and people are getting vaccinated, the need for mass testing will disappear.

My understanding was you can still get infected after the vaccine, it just won’t effect you? |

This is the case with all vaccines, it teaches your immune system how to tackle the virus. But if your immune system kills the virus in a day or two, then you've got a much smaller chance of passing it on compared to having an active virus for two weeks.

That's the whole idea of mass testing and the reason for it to continue to identify and isolate carriers.
Vaccinated people can still carry the virus, the vaccine only reduces the possible I'll effects. |

If the majority of the population has been vaccinated and it stops them from getting seriously ill then would there be a need for a test in the long term, I mean not the short term.
Because getting a virus isn't actually an issue but needing medical intervention and hospital treatment is. |

This is what they are researching now, there are a few groups checking vaccinated people who have tested positive to see what their viral load actually is day by day |

I'm hoping people will continue to get tested after having the vaccine.
My local area as been testing asymptomatic and loads of cases that would not have been discovered other wise have come to light.
These people are now isolating where as before they wouldnt have been.
I'd hope the mix of both vaccine and regular testing will being about us being able to have our lives back |

Even though the vaccine will kick in and combat the virus, it will still show up on a pcr test after 14 days.
So if you have had the vaccine, and then come into contact with someone who has transmitted the virus you would still have to isolate for 14 days under the current rules. |

As the virus infection levels reduce, there will be an ever decreasing number of people to test who are getting infected. The smart step once the numbers get much lower is to do a much more thorough test and tracing service - tracing those who may have been infected, plus isolation. With fewer people to manage, it gets easier. The vaccinated people should, to be confirmed via future research testing, have minimal impact on infection levels, infecting fewer, if any people, due to low infection. The focus can be more on the shrinking majority, unvaccinated, as the R value reduces below 1. |

Well so far we have vaccinated just over 4 million in about 7 weeks so I'd say it's not bad going. |
