Some Restrictions....

"Some Restrictions could be Lifted by March 2021,
Dominic Rabb."
The government need to get people spending money. Unfortunately, any relaxation will be followed be an increase in infections. Hopefully though, the lockdown and vaccinations will have enough impact to mitigate that.

"The Government now know they can lock us down with little opposition. They have people scared stiff."
I think it's just people would rather try to stop a virus
that is hospitaliseing and killing people spreading through the community. |

If people actually did things like took advantage of the asymptomatic testing that are popping up and went twice a week like they are recommending we could probably be doing very well by the end of March... but so many people dont seem to understand the importance of being tested if they are " well" x |

Not all of us have access to asymptomatic testing |

Not all of us have access to asymptomatic testing" I'd be surprised if there isnt one everywhere by the end of February. We have about 8 within 12 miles of us that I'm aware of. |

I thought Boris was standing down this month anyway. What happened to that idea? |

Honestly it’s all bullshit what anyone says, politicians, reporters, medical experts etc. Nobody can know with the way this virus is when there will be less restrictions.
I’m getting sick of this constant fixation of when restrictions may be eased, because people get their hopes up then start to become lax. I know it’s frustrating to be stuck in lockdown, but it ends when it ends. I wouldn’t expect anything to be much more normal until later this year or next at the earliest, I think we just have to accept that unfortunately! |

Be surprised if the schools go back for Easter.
In Scotland at Christmas told it was 3 week lock down. In Northern Ireland it was 6 weeks from Christmas. England opted for Tier4 in the south.
First week in New year and Scotland matches Northern Ireland and England goes into full lock down.
We have a Belfast office and the information they were getting two weeks ago was to prepare for this going on till March. Everyone who can work from home must do it.
This is now happening in Scotland with the subtle changes being it is no longer advice but legal.
Will be very easy to go for another 3 week extension at the end of this one which takes to last week in February another takes us to mid march. They aren't going to open the schools for two weeks.
They are trying to contain and lower it and hope that they get sufficient numbers vaccinated before Easter and the inevitable increase.

We were in tier 4 just before the lockdown so maybe thats why there is so many test centres near us |

Wouldn't get excited tbh. Some restrictions lifted to bring us into the highest tier below full lockdown. Non essential shops will open again but other than that it'll as we are for pretty much the entire year. Anyone dreaming about about a pint on a summers evening can forget it. |

the end of february is still a good 6 weeks away, i dont think asymptomatic testing is being offered in scotland at all that i am aware of , and if we are staying home as much as advised i am not sure it would be of great benefit during lockdowns anyway |

Why ? Last year things relaxed a lot during the summer, this year we have the vaccine, we have far better treatments and with so many having either the vaccine or covid itself there will be far fewer people to infect. |

We were in tier 2 up to xmas. I can walk to nearest test centre and there's at least 4 others within a few minutes drive.
Lady friend in malvern has a couple within walking distance too.
She's had 6 tests since mid November. I've not bothered but do have 2 temp checks every day at work.... |

All these predictions of spring or whenever are just toying with us, making out better days are just around the corner so stick with it just this little bit longer as they know fine of the truth were out it'd lead to civil unrest with folk saying fuck this. They aren't going to be in any hurry to lift restrictions. They don't give a damn if you're not seeing your family or whatever, they don't want to open things up and see the numbers rise yet again. They'll open a wee bit as I said but the majority of our society will remain closed for months to come but they will continue to dangle the carrot in front of us that it just needs 1 more little push. They think we're all stupid. |

most doctors are doing telephone consultations and do we really need to shop more than once a week/fortnight/ and most of us can order online anyway? going out to be tested twice a week would actually be more trips outside than anyone already needs ... if you mean the folk that are browsing round home bargains for fun then they have such little regard for the spirit of the guidelines anyway i doubt they would utilise the testing |

I am out daily ( legitimately) hence I've been being tested weekly anyway but welcoming these new tests as even of going out just once a week for shopping that is a lot of people you could potentially pass it on to.
The test centres are a lot more aware than the shops and 1 in 3 people is the number they suspect is asymptomatic... so it could really get a lid on it .

It seems worse currently as more are catching it than before.

On another note apparently the chancellor has said today this country has now got such huge economical debt due to this pandemic that we can now all expect significant tax rises in his forthcoming march budget. So we have that to look forward to now
It's the start of payback time |

I think that's because there is a very good reason, backed by science and personal experiences.
Without that, people wouldn't let them get away with it. |

Yep.
Viruses are constantly mutating. That's what they do and it's not always a bad thing as they usually get less lethal (we only hear about it when it gets worse, because bad news sells better)
A virus that kills it's host is dead, can no longer spread and eventually will run out of hosts, whereas a virus that doesn't kill it's host can continue to spread and survive.
Killing the host is a fuck up with the viruses evolution. |
