Just watched Wayne Rooney talking about the furore about footballers hugging

He said " I will remind the players, but on the other hand, we understand if they 'forget'

When you score a goal, your mind goes blank"

Yeah. Especially if its pretty fucking blank to start with

What an absolute plank

Just seen goal celebrations are banned and sanctions will be taken... but it’s still safe to play apparently

Money talks!

(I LOVE football and would normally be biased the other way!)

How on earth do some of them manage to breathe ?

And why on earth do we pay them so much, compared to Doctors / Nurses etc ?

Pretty thick? Based on what? They go to academies at maybe 5... and get the best schooling possible alongside their physical education. They are professional athletes living a life most can only dream of.

I'm betting there IQ is better than most of society.

They are subject to the highest testing and medical support... limited risk. Meanwhile most the population are going costa and arguing over micro chips in vaccines.

And as for granny hugging bit rich from a sex site...

You all sound very bitter.

Highest testing?

Chorley Celebrated all together last weekend and then went back to work in the construction and teaching industry with their families and colleagues. And now it’s not safe for them to do the same celebrations?

Not bitter in the slightest, my 2 sports I can’t compete in, my family can’t race their motocross... absolutely fine. Just don’t pretend it’s safe

Read some of the comments, one comment said why do we pay them so much.

We don't pay them, they earn their money from being top of their trade, and pay lots of tax, more tax than me and many people pay.

Why do actors get paid millions for acting, why do F1 drivers get paid for driving a car fast, I could go on and on, these people get the money for being good at what thy do.

Is Rugby going to be stopped as they all hugging each other during the game in tackling, scrums ect.

Footballers are always an easy target when things go wrong, same old comments come out paid to much, pampered, not like the footballers of old bla bla

I only wish could earn their money, dream of it even, but sadly for me I don't. It doesn't matter who it is, football players, actors, F1 drivers, tennis players, they get paid the huge amounts because they have earned it.

Footballers are being forced to play during these conditions, they would still be paid if not playing as on a contract, many clubs do loads for their community, sadly lots of it does not get reported, as only bad news makes the head lines.

Should they be hugging, or partying like a few have done.

The answer is no, if you watch a game, any game, during set pieces corners, free kicks ect the players are huddled up, it cannot be helped.

So on that thought you have to ban scrums, and tackling in Rugby.

As for the small number of players who broke Covid rules, and acted in madness, yes action should be taken.

But action should also be taken against rock stars, Politicians, and many of the general public who have also broken Covid rules, and put peoples lives at risk

Well said, footballers are easy targets because they’re working class lads that make lots of money. How dare they sacrifice everything at a young age to possibly have a career at the top for 10 years. If you wanna direct your anger at people making money for doing seemingly little, take it out on the Queen

"Just watched Wayne Rooney talking about the furore about footballers hugging

He said " I will remind the players, but on the other hand, we understand if they 'forget'

When you score a goal, your mind goes blank"

How on earth do some of them manage to breathe ?

And why on earth do we pay them so much, compared to Doctors / Nurses etc ?"

why do we pay actors so much why do we pay Mps so much why do we pay popstars so much ? there have been plenty of cases of memers of those profesions breaking covid rules ah but they arent the easy target when the govt needs to deflect bad bews are they

I have to question the level of intelligence of a person who claims that they know the intelligence levels of people they’ve never met and sorely based on their career.

The irony obviously escapes them.

"Urrrrrr what’s the problem, we’re rugby supporters and they still play , so really this is just nonsense, no problem hugging if they wish too lol

So its ok then?

Even when the rest of us arent allowed?"

Yes of course..... even more important, people need sport to watch especially as there’s nothing else to do ..... and normal sport too .... the last thing we want to see is anything on tv involving bloody covid

"Read some of the comments, one comment said why do we pay them so much.

"Should they be hugging, or partying like a few have done.

But action should also be taken against rock stars, Politicians, and many of the general public who have also broken Covid rules, and put peoples lives at risk "

We are definitely not football fans can’t stand it but understand that it brings happiness to many and it being able to be played if safe is ok. BUT it’s not is it? As for them having a high iq lol.

F1 was the first large sport last year to go world wide and be covid secure yes they had out racks but were all controlled masks worn etc. Football they can’t even remember not to hug each other, there not doing themselves any favours and they need to comply or it gets stopped.

Hope they do comply as it does give a boost to the many who enjoy it

"Pretty thick? Based on what? They go to academies at maybe 5... and get the best schooling possible alongside their physical education. They are professional athletes living a life most can only dream of. Here here well said?????? another easy target for people to have a pop at !!

I'm betting there IQ is better than most of society.

They are subject to the highest testing and medical support... limited risk. Meanwhile most the population are going costa and arguing over micro chips in vaccines.

And as for granny hugging bit rich from a sex site...

You all sound very bitter. "

Did you mean to type "thick"

E

You should be playing professional football with spelling like that, get your boots out

It just comes down to people, be it footballers or others not so fortunate, to just follow the rules.

Its simply that simple.

My thoughts exactly, when some representative said on TV last night about it being new, so need time to get used to it...so that social distancing thing thats been going on for oooh about 12 months or so, how about that. Also most off seasons a new rule comes in or is amended, I don't see the refs blowing the whistle & saying 'you know what, it is a new rule, so no sanction until you get used to it, play on.'

There was more restraint in the lunchtime Premier game today. Still plenty of touching though, more than is necessary or needed.

"I assume rugby will now also be played without scrumming, rucks etc"

I would say that's different though because that is an essential part of the game hugging to celebrate a goal isn't.
