So I live with 2 daughters one is 21 other 28 youngest had symptoms and lots at supermarket she works were positive! So she gets a test and is positive! Other daughter and me get a test and we both negative! Mine came back this morn! Very pleased but was sure we both would have caught it as we in a smallish house no masks even hugging touching same stuff sharing kitchen and bathroom etc! X

It's a bit of a weird one. Both our daughters (teenagers) are positive atm.

Both of us came back negative but I can almost certainly guarantee we both have it. Judging by symptoms and knowing it's in the house. There is no point in having another test though as we have to isolate because of the daughters anyway

Our daughter has tested positive works in a Supermarket. We are her childcare for our grandson so had lots of contact. None of us have any symptoms but we are self isolating as told by track and trace message.

According to studies, people only pass it on to a partner in a third of cases and to a person in the same household in 1 in 5 cases.

It’s been looked at people with Corona who live in households with plenty of other people and some have not caught it ,

"Being in close contact with someone positive is no guarantee you will get it"

No but you still have to self isolate for 10 days after last contact.

"I think another test will be needed in a few days time "

According to track in trace as long as you self isolate for 10 days and don't have any symptoms you don't need another test.

If you develop any symptoms will need a test.

Absolutely but the point we was making that up to 30 % of the population are immune to Covid naturally, that was the same for the great plague some people are DNA immune

Another thing to remember is it can take up to 10 days to get symptoms, so yes it is true you are not guaranteed to catch it if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive but it also does not mean that you are somehow immune either.

I believe they are investigating if DNA is a factor in how ill people get with it.

You may have been infected previously in the past without realising, so that could explain a negative test. I think around 1/3 don’t show any symptoms even when they are infected.

So you may have developed an immunity to being infected again, which PHE today have said could be 83% for up to 5 months after infection.

I haven't seen any updates on it recently. I think blood type was also mentioned at one point.

I know people living in the same house where some got it and some didn't.

And other houses where everyone got it and at least one died.

My understanding though is that is based on the likely hood of severe symptoms rather than the likelihood of them catching the virus.

I think there's a lot of unknowns here.

Close contacts of cases should be careful. You might be negative now, but as long as a family member is contagious, you're at increased risk of catching it.

Take care of yourself and ask for help if you feel sick.

I want you to get through this x

The following is something I copied from British society of haematology

n a separate study on more than 473,000 people tested for COVID-19 in Denmark, researchers also found that people with blood type O appear to be at the lowest risk of infection. Those with blood types A, B, and AB appear to be at similar levels of infection risk.
