Never really noticed before today walking down the street. plenty of distance between myself and others but could clearly smell vape smoke made me realize just how far your breath travels when you exhale. I may well be wrong but felt pretty scarry. |

It's a good example of how we are generally unaware of something that we'll not see until a very cold day or seeing vaping.
Imagine the extent of the build on of all of the aerosol exhalations in an unventilated room. |

There was a doctor on TV a couple days ago explaining. 'imagine you can smell someone's cigarette smoke, and some people with a strong sense of smell for cigarette smoke can smell it from a good few metres away, then you need to be aware of what you are inhaling_'... Scary stuff. |

Exactly.
There was a thread on here last week where a lady said she thought the government had been spraying the virus into the air.
As a family member caught covid but had been shielding not left house but had been sitting in garden talking to neighbour over the fence.
This thread explains why it's entirety possible to pass it without any contact direct with others. |

I was only thinking on this yesterday as I walked down to Embankment station. I was behind someone toaking away on a vape and the trail it left from exhaling was huge. I had my mask on but could still smell the scent, I was about 4 meters back but thought I better get outta here.
Got me thinking about vape trail, cigarettes and just our breath in general....it is pretty alarming.

Isn't it more likely that it was caught from touching something (like shopping) and then touching their face? |

A work colleague got it, from letting a client use his laptop for half an hour. |

Some one needs to do a viral load experiment
And a ppm experiment
I'd suggest that last summer when everyone was outside and the figures were low vs
November onwards when people decided to covertly meet inside tells us something
But I want real data

Well actually its equally plausible
Its very evident that hand hygiene is also abysmal
I can't say I've seen any studies that differentiate
The best data I've seen which is absolutely not scientifically controlled is the daily figures each month
Which Vaguely suggests that its inside close proximity that exponentially increased the daily figures
Data Splitting cause between airbone spread and surface spread is pretty much conjecture at best

Why isn't it?
We're being reminded of the importance of hand hygiene and keeping surfaces, door handles etc clean
And that the virus is less likely to spread outdoors, hence that's why we meet others outdoors and maintain distance |

I think one reason is sadly we seem to live in a binary simplistic buzz word world
Complexity nuance even a grey scale are ditched for either or black white left right all nothing

I can generally smell cigarette smoke over very long distances. Vape vapour isn't as pungent a smell. Does make you wonder. |
