Given the data suggests most are complying. Why are we so obssessed with blaming people with our anecdotes rather than the looser rules in a worse situation than last spring? (e.g. Definition of key workers)

I'd say it's mostly because feel helpless in being able to do anything about it. No control over it nor over those who flaunt the rules. Loopholers, spend their time to navigate the rules and think it's smart. The spirit of the message is lost. |

what data? how is it collected? do we expect it i accurately recording rule breaking since that doesn’t really seem like something people will voluntarily report about themselves?
i think people are “obsessed with anecdotes” because its what they are seeing with their own eyes happening all around them and the “data” just doesn’t seem to match their personal experience |

Be thankful that you don't see them  . They are busy and very busy, they've been given additional roles and much like the care/nhs they are down with many off or isolating. It's not as if they can call the job center and suddenly find extra staff to fill in. |

I genuinely feel we live in a blame culture and actually I think you are right and the vast majority of people are sticking to guidelines and rules But we get caught up on those that don't |

It's always easier and more convenient to have scapegoats than to confront uncomfortable truths or to look for difficult answers to complex questions.
Also governments love scapegoats as it deflects blame from them and provides easy excuses. |

It's partly the result of long-term suppressed emotions and frustration, projected on to others.
Some haven't engaged their generosity of spirit to others, perhaps obsessing as they have too little that they choose to occupy their minds with |

Because people tend to rally around governments in times of crisis, well recorded in political history. So when things still aren't fixed, then it's easier to blame the public, even when, as you say, the available data suggests the public are obeying the rules mostly, albeit less than in the first lockdown perhaps (though lockdown fatigue is exactly what the gov was expecting so that isn't suprising). |

I feel herd immunity is in effect, I'm sure of it and I get the feeling government is giving in to the idea especially with the vaccine going around. Lockdown in name only, that's my feeling. I'll travel for essential reasons in the mean time |

All this noise is to achieve 2 things:
1. Scare people who are sceptical into having the vaccine when offered.
2. Distract everyone from what else is going on using the cover of the pandemic. That includes the erosion of our democracy (extending executive power at expense of legislature and judiciary) and the wholesale theft of national assets (ie awarding spurious unscrutinised contracts to cronies etc)
P.S. Not for one minute saying pandemic isn’t horrifically real but we have a govt of crooked opportunists who cannot believe their luck! |

Latest "scientific" research sugests actual new infections running at 250 000+ perday. At this rate ( c 2 million a week) 10% of population every 3 weeks then by the end of feb 14 million will be vaccinated (target) and 12 million will have been infected (plus god knows how many million infected previously? ).
If that isn't herd immunity then I dont know what is....? |

The problem with that is the one then gives courage to the next person so that 1 becomes 2, then 3 and so on. So on that basis if there was 1 person with the virus you would be happy for that person to be in general population as it is only 1 after all |
