Lockdown positives?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Yes it's been shit but there have been a few chinks of light amongst the darkness of lockdown.
Do you have any lockdown positives? I'll start...
I started running to maintain fitness and wellbeing right at the start of the first lockdown. I can now run 10k in 56 minutes without stopping.
Anyone else got any lockdown positives you'd like to share (BTW 'not going insane' definitely counts!)?

Sorry to hear that. I started running because I had the time to do it and prior to that I'd been doing other stuff to maintain fitness and had a busy job where I was frequently out and about. Suddenly due to working from home, everything became very sedentary, so I thought I'd give it a go. Let's hope it's all over soon! |

I started the running thing too it helps with switching off after work and keeps the depression at bay. i even managed to do the Edinburgh virtual marathon (4hrs 40mins). now training for the next one with the hope that people can cheer me on this time round so I will need to hide my tears of pain. keep on running |

moved to cuckold land |
Started a role play with wife of her having a boyfriend she began meeting.
She now "meets" him every Saturday & has even given him a name.
She is now like a different woman dressing so sexily for her weekly meets and the sex is just totally different from anything we have together as husband & wife.
Maybe once everything back to normal I might yet get my wish for her to experience sex with another for real |

I saved money by not travelling to work. and finally got projects in the house done that I had put off.
I commune normally two hrs à day that's two hrs a day more for myself.
I ran 146 miles in October raised £1500.00 for charity.
Due to lockdown my grandson has avoided infections and not been in hospital in 11 months.
Spending more time with my kids that I wouldn't have had.
I am appreciating more and more of others whose life's were like this before a pandemic.
I am cooking more, eating healthily and less tired.

I like this thread...
I got dumped by my partner but found over subsequent months how little that persons behaviour, lack of honesty and general approach to life was something I wanted to have in my life.
I had to suspend my business but in seeking a stop gap measure found a brand new challenge that has given me a drive and passion for my work that’s been lacking for some years.
I’ve spent more time with both my sons and whilst I’ve always loved them dearly it’s brought me much closer to them but also made me feel immensely proud of the young man and wee boy that they both are.
Oh and I’ve found in two individuals I’ve known on here for many years a whole other depth to their friendship. They know who they are I’m sure and I can’t underestimate how genuine they’ve demonstrated they are as friends.
P.S. Miss Grace has a PB of 36:07 for 10k... up your game OP - joking aside, well done x |

Not having to travel, I am saving 3 hours a day on commute and I am working more for now. But in the future, I may work from home 3 days a week and stop clogging the atmosphere
Planning to give my car back and get something much smaller. It saves on the PCP in the short term. |

Learned how to truly relax
Saved money
Re connected with old hobbies and discovered new ones.
Appreciated shops and shopping more.
Enjoyed nobody 'popping in'
No babysitting duties
Done lots of DIY myself that I would normally get someone in to do.
Discovered gardening.
Walked the dogs more.
Volunteered. Something I would never be in a position to do outside of lockdown.
I do miss some things from my old life obviously, but not that many. |

Thanks very much and for contributing, it has been a fun read hasn't it? Totally agree about not missing long commutes. For those of us who are lucky enough to be able to work from home it's definitely shown that you can get just as much if not more done away from the office. Thoughts go out to those people who are either in jobs on the front line/healthcare or have lost work during the pandemic though... |

Given rate of vaccine roll out NHS will be out of danger in early spring though there will still be ongoing deaths. I still think April might be optimistic but May isn’t out of the question for opening Covid secure venues. Good luck |

Fair play! Not sure I have a sub 60min 10k in me. sub 25min for 5k and I’m burnt out. Maybe a lockdown challenge to strive for but I would need to drive a few miles to some place flatter than the hills where I live! |

No commute = carbon offset my usual contribution to the atmosphere, helping others breathe cleaner air.
Also, no commute = zero noise pollution to others
Plus no commute = no delaying other road users
And no commute = no causing wear and tear on the roads, which the tax payer has to fund
Essentially, staying at home has considerably reduced my impact on the environment and on others in many direct and indirect ways.
And of course, it also means I've not caught Covid and been a burden on the NHS (I am a burden to them in other ways, but that's another story). At least I haven't been an additional burden to them.
It's like ripples in a pond. Some like to make a big splash that reverberates outwards for ages. Others like to slip in quietly and leave no trace. |

For me personally as a delivery person, people have been mostly in to receive their parcels (more so in the first lockdown), making my life easier. The roads are emptier, making working easier.
Plus I've saved tons of money by not being able to go out or travel to see friends and family.
Loads of home maintenance got done.

"Yes it's been shit but there have been a few chinks of light amongst the darkness of lockdown.
Do you have any lockdown positives? I'll start...
I started running to maintain fitness and wellbeing right at the start of the first lockdown. I can now run 10k in 56 minutes without stopping.

Had months of working one day a week at 80% pay. saved a fortune on fuel as it was at a far more reasonable £1.09 most of the time.
Had time spend with fmaily, do the garden and some indoors stuff.
Got to have loooooong lies and late nights.
Completed a few games on the Ps4 that i wouldnt have.
