"My thoughts are should have been put in place sooner boxing day. This new variant spreads so easy "
Is there really a new variant?
We all should have done as we were told before but the spoilt nation knows better of course so here we are once more. |

"Will people take it seriously enough that’s my worry."
Perhaps not enough of them. But it depends on how active the police are.
In France they now have a curfew in some arrondissements of 6pm to 7am. So it's easy to see who's out and about. |

If people had done what they were asked from the outset then I don’t think this would have been necessary. Unfortunately there’s too many ignorant arseholes in this country that feel they can do what they want and fuck the consequences.

I think he should have gone further, whilst it's similar to the 1st one there are still DIY stores open etc and people will go and browse as they are bored etc..
It should be that only registered trades can access relevant suppliers for emergency works etc, decorating the spare room as one is bored on furlough is not necessary..
And yes I know they fucked up with financial support for self employed etc but they could sort that if they're serious.. |

Watching the news on a daily basis they were the 2 main cities that caused a lot of the problems. Rallies in Manchester led by the anti mask protesters and as soon as London went into tier 4 they all pissed off to their holiday retreats! |

More than a few hours notice to get laptops and printers, paper and ink for home schooling would have been nice, so many kids don't have access to these things readily as parents need them to work

We had car loads of people from Bolton when the pubs were shut there trying to get into both our two pubs here, the landlords took to phoning each other and further afield by to warn each other..
That does not mean all from Bolton acted that way, there's selfish people everywhere taking advantage of lax restrictions.. |

No surprises except that it should have been much longer the last time and heavier policing of it.
France has a €125 on the spot fine for not wearing a mask and doubles the second time. You hardly see anyone not wearing a mask there when out. Many other heftier fines too for other infringements. |

"Got to thank all the idiots that put us in it and I'm not referring to the government "
Government hasn't put us here, the Government is try to fix what the fuckwitts are doing. No appologies but it's stupid people who are keeping this virus going. Those who try to get around the rules, those who think they don't apply to them, those who burry their head about the deviation it is and has caused by trying to put the blame on the Government.
Fab does do something about it if you report. They block you and the other person, as far as anything more I can confirm the other person is still looking more meets as a friend can confirm. Maybe membership revenue has dropped considerably and it's not good business to remove those who are paying but there needs to be a consistency. I won't be reporting others anymore though. |

I think you're just reading into my example to push across your opinion on mask wearing. Irrelevant if you read what I was saying.
I've quite a few friends in France and trust me when I say the fines are handed out.
Just because the numbers went up doesn't mean that mask wearing doesn't work. Not sure about your logic as it ignores a lot of other things going on.
Restrictions were reduced, people had mass rallies demonstrating about anything they didn't like , from a black man dying at the hands of a white officer, to shootings, to pulling down monuments of history, mass over crowding on beaches, holidaying abroad, and most were not wearing masks at these gatherings. Testing started increasing, so obviously numbers were always going to seem higher ( reality was that they were already there just not detected.
So to answer your opinion that face masks don't work? Rethink the evidence again and don't quote some antimasker of tube, F*cebook some headline grabbing article please. |

It’s not duration but rather the frequency of replication that drives variants. Infect 1 million hosts over 1 year or 1 week and the number of variants that occur will be much the same. |

I really don’t think the markets have fully factored in the situation! If the economic contraction of the size that has and is still occurring had been brought about from any other reason the markets would have had a complete melt down. No offense to anyone here I cannot fathom having to go thru multiple lockdowns constantly. It sometimes disheartening to see the UK go through it. I read the forums and see the pain from both sides. Good luck stay healthy and wear a damn mask. Mask mandate is all we did in our state and the restrictions are eased as of today. All of you all must be at the point of breaking. |

Not an expert, but have been working as an NHS frontline worker during this shit show. I take x-rays.
These are my thoughts:
1) I've x-rayed masked Covid positive patients, while wearing a 'normal' paper face mask myself (not FFP3) multiple times a day, for months. I've not got antibodies, I've never tested positive. Masks work for short term contact - 5 min x-ray, walking past someone in a shop etc.
2) Lockdown is hard. Places where airspace is large, or outdoors, is not as big a problem. Let folk go to garden centres (limit indoor numbers, enforce mask wearing) ditto other large space, few customers environments. Zoos, large B&Qs, huge superstores with massive ceilings. Having some freedom will keep us sane!
3) For all the press, remember - THE VAST MAJORITY ARE FOLLOWING THE RULES! I can't overstate this! The minority make the news. It's not headline worthy that you didn't celebrate New Year with your friends. But the 6 household party is. Don't get caught up in the "everyone else is doing it" narrative. They are the exceptions. Stay strong, stay home!
4) Finally, remember this. The older you are the earlier you'll get the vaccine. Stay safe till then! We'll be partying months before the youngsters
It's real. I've seen it. You really don't want it. Just, you know, do the right thing. Stay home. Please x |

"Should have been done in October but wishy-washy bojo fumbled as usual.
No real change until a 24/7 vaccine program is underway. The NHS is the UK pride and glory. Lets support all frontline workers now, and always... And that includes proper funding and salaries!"
So you obviously don't know that doris and his cronies decided to put our pride and joy NHS up for grabs in any trade deal ? effectively putting the NHS up for sale, also he changed the law, so any deal he does, doesn't have to go through parliament. In theory it could be gone already, |

"Just surprises me that after all the deaths that have been reported around the world and in this country there are people who still truly believe that this all made up WTF "
I know. My opinion on people has severely decreased during this last year. |

So you’re posting hearsay then ?
Just commenting shite to try and wind people up ?
You’re the one that said about Boris putting the NHS up for sale and then claim “in theory “

no i am not commenting sh1te,as you quaintly put it. If you had bothered to actually assimilate the information, you will realise, the NHS is definitely on the table for trade deals, and in "THEORY COULD" be already sold. the info you need to find out more is in my original post, https://votes.parliament.uk/ you can even look in there if you like. "clause 17, 20 July 2020" was the killer vote,

Yes, they do. This is as you correctly assert is a fact. So far so good.
Then you say we are being played.
The government are basing the new lockdown on the rapid spread of the new strain...the aforementioned mutation.
So my question is how are we being played? |

All the words make sense, it’s the order you put them in that doesn’t. Who’s “playing us” and why? |

This new lockdown isn't being done to save lives, it's being done because the NHS cannot cope with the expected numbers. Even before cover, the NHS was in a perilous state (along with all public services) thanks to a decade long funding reduction by Tory governments. So no, I'm not supporting the treatment of the NHS under the Tories, far from it.
Bojo is a fumbling muppet. He has had ample opportunities to take firm, decisive action, but misses each opportunity in the quest for popularity. Take the examples of yesterday. In the morning, schools will remain open. Then Nicola Sturgeon announces a Scottish lockdown, and Bojo U turns (again) and does the same. He's not a leader, but a sheep.
Of course the government isn't responsible for the origins of covid, and I accept it is unprecedented, but who can honestly say when looking at how other countries have handled it, that this lot of tossers have handled it well? |
