"Because the government know that without childcare, people cant work
Trying to work with an active two year old running about, just aint gonna happen"
I get that but why are 5 years any less safe to mix and mingle than 4 year old’s? |

The older a child, the more ACE2 receptors they have. Loosely speaking, the larger the body, the greater the number of these receptors, via which the virus enters cells. Very young children are very infrequently infected with SARS-CoV-2, so on balance, it's probably safer to provide care for this age group to allow at least some parents to work.
Mr KC and I worked FT from March to June with our 3yo at home because our nursery just closed completely (we're key workers but can work from home). We worked with her home but it nearly finished us off physically and mentally. I'm physically disabled, run a department in a college and teach, Me KC is a student support worker (student facing). We're blessed with a very well behaved child, but really did not want to put her through more of what we had in March-June. We felt like dreadful parents. It was made easier by good weather and so she had space to come in and out, whereas now she'd be cooped up indoors. |

"Suspect they'll only be looking after children of key workers. Schools will also be educating children of key workers"
I work in early years education and my work place is open as normal (although im furloughed because im CEHV) as are all the nurseries locally. |

We do despair
How can people have children , be expected to raise them , look after them in times of need , teach them to be decent kind caring human beings
Come on I ask you , it's just not possible |
