"He should introduce the French system where you need to show a form detailing your reason for being outside your house. Either on paper or on your phone. The form shows who you are, where you live, when you left home and you tick a box against the allowed activity you are doing. No valid form, instant fine. Out for too, long instant fine. Too far from home, instant fine. Fines double each time."

"Maybe people could just obey the rules." This Our neighbours have broken them every day since March. Kinda ashamed to admit this but we have been logging movements, writing down vrns of vehicle’s guests arrivie/leave in, what time they arrive/leave, descriptions of guests and have a tally for each person on how many times that week they have visited.... Everything has been reported but nothing, absolutely nothing has happened to them. We don’t particularly like this neighbour for other reasons but they clearly doesn’t give a toss about the virus. Just last week we heard them constantly coughing and guess what? They was still going out, having family/friends round constantly... I wish police, councils would do their jobs and fine them

"Why are we not rolling out the armed forces? Also stick a strict curfew on the country " Absolutely agree that it’s time to get squaddies patrolling to back up the Police Farce. Mostly on tubes and trains where I see morons swigging out of beer cans burping coughing and think it’s a big joke. Most morons welcome confrontation with the police as they are now a laughing stock but they’ll find the green machine a very different entity!

The rules are not restrictive enough, people will continue to do the things that they are allowed to do. If the want people to stay at home they need to close the shops, schools, gyms. Make food shopping "1 person only", and tell the masses they must only go out for 1 hr a day for exercise. Cal

All businesses and schools should close for 6-12 months, blanket shutdown. No travel more than 3km from home and roadblocks set up at all main junctions. All those not vaccinated should not be able to attend public places without wearing an identifyable orange badge so we will know who to avoid and point them out to authorities. Those failing to do so will be arrested and sent to correction units and forcefully vaccinated. All those protesting about so called hard won freedoms and freedom of speech should be shunned and made to comply and do exactly what Matt Hancock says as he has been proved right from day one.

" I hope you're being sarcastic but just in case you aren't, Do you understand what 6 months plus of all businesses and schools being shut down would do to this country? That is literally the future of the country losing out on actual education. You think we have experienced austerity and cuts up till now, imagine what it would be like with all small businesses having folded even though the government tried their best to help, the unemployment rate would be sky high for years because of how many businesses, little and large, would fold. Suicide rates would eclipse the deaths from this virus. Poverty and poverty related deaths would double that at least. Not to mention, there's no social distancing in prisons so the spread of the virus would just find a new core.

It was funny listening to some responses to this the other day when I said this was what France has been doing in response to comments on here about it doesn't work here. The thing is we've become so accustomed to the freedom we have here compared to even some Way countries that it goes against our thinking to enforce restrictions even though most of us believe them to be right. I'd say more and more people are calling for them, many saying they should have been done much earlier, but many of these same people were against the suggestion at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

"Some enforcement taking place near us now, police are using ANPR to identify vehicles from outside the area and stopping to ask purpose of their journey." You know they are using ANPR inappropriately then? There were stories like this on the first lockdown. People saying 2 cars stopped and the people were arrested for being out. The truth was that there were stopped because one had no insurance, mot etc and went to assault an officer and the other one had previously jumped bail. Did you ask the officers why they stopped the people or are you assuming they were out of the area. There's no provision for that and it's a gross waste of public resources.

The form shows who you are, where you live, when you left home and you tick a box against the allowed activity you are doing. No valid form, instant fine. Out for too, long instant fine. Too far from home, instant fine. Fines double each time. The French set a limit of €4000, then it is a months house arrest one lockdown was lifted. You have to admire the French, they don't mess about. Contrary to what some think it's working too. Hindsight is a wonderful thing." Hahaha believe them to be a right. They are rights.

"Why are we not rolling out the armed forces? Also stick a strict curfew on the country . Oh yes, put the army on the street to do what exactly ? And a curfew. That’s it, this virus is being spread at the dead of night. Genius. " A lot of the army are on the streets sleeping rough. Boris does not give a fuck about them either

"Maybe people could just obey the rules. This Our neighbours have broken them every day since March. I wish police, councils would do their jobs and fine them This is exactly what the authorities want. Happened in Germany before the war and happens in most police states. Free informers. If so, why has no one acted on said info. I believe the STASI always acted & had many citizen spies even within families." We're not at that stage yet but mark my words, certainly this site appears to be voting for a police state and martial law. You do realise that if you vote in your numbers to go down that route, sites like this will be prohibited. Sexual conduct will be fully controlled. Is that what you want? End of sites like fabswingers?

All businesses and schools should close for 6-12 months, blanket shutdown. No travel more than 3km from home and roadblocks set up at all main junctions. All those not vaccinated should not be able to attend public places without wearing an identifyable orange badge so we will know who to avoid and point them out to authorities. I hope you're being sarcastic but just in case you aren't, Do you understand what 6 months plus of all businesses and schools being shut down would do to this country? That is literally the future of the country losing out on actual education. You think we have experienced austerity and cuts up till now, imagine what it would be like with all small businesses having folded even though the government tried their best to help, the unemployment rate would be sky high for years because of how many businesses, little and large, would fold. Suicide rates would eclipse the deaths from this virus. Poverty and poverty related deaths would double that at least. Not to mention, there's no social distancing in prisons so the spread of the virus would just find a new core. " The country would grind to a halt quicker if we did nothing, as people would catch the virus and have to go off work. Businesses would still close, people would still loose their jobs only quicker.

"Why are we not rolling out the armed forces? Also stick a strict curfew on the country " The army, including all volunteers and reservists totals 187000 soldiers. It wouldn’t make much difference considering the size of the country they’d have to patrol 24/7. The problem with any lockdown rules is that they are completely unenforceable due to the size of the population and size of the country, you’d need a soldier/policeman on every street at all times for it to be a deterrent to people that break the rules, which is impossible

That’s it, this virus is being spread at the dead of night. Genius. A lot of the army are on the streets sleeping rough. Boris does not give a fuck about them either" Amen !

"As a key worker, I have a form documenting my need to travel to and from work x He should introduce the French system where you need to show a form detailing your reason for being outside your house. Either on paper or on your phone. The form shows who you are, where you live, when you left home and you tick a box against the allowed activity you are doing. No valid form, instant fine. Out for too, long instant fine. Too far from home, instant fine. Fines double each time." I have a document saying I’m a key worker too. But nobody ever asked me for it...

"Maybe people could just obey the rules. This Our neighbours have broken them every day since March. I wish police, councils would do their jobs and fine them Do you not have a life? " I'd be very surprised if anyone told me that they had a life right now. If they did, they're probably breaking all the guidelines in order to enjoy that so-called life.

"Is it people deliberately breaking the law or is it as suggested by independent sage people who feel unable to follow the rules for economic reasons. Covid really has highlighted the inequality in this country. Restrictions are a lot easier when you have a job where you can work from your comfortable house receiving your full salary without paying for commuting, whilst getting your groceries delivered from Waitrose or Sainsbury’s . If you’re on a zero hours contract, don’t qualify for statutory sick pay and have no savings left doing the right thing is a lot bigger challenge. Only the government can do anything about that though, not the morally outraged of fab." A most valid point I feel.

"Not many have answered the actual point or worked out what's going on, if 2 people who live in same area invite, share a bottle and fuck ... in the meantime Michael Caine, noisy neighbours been dialing 101 on repeat for hour upon hour demanding the sweeney knock the door down. Next day written to the local mp, chief constable and press. So in the meantime cars are getting robbed, houses robbed, drug dealers dealing etc ... they haven't the numbers to do anything! And feel sorry for them, talk to coppers off the record and they really not happy one bit So the police are underfunded therefore public health measures are unnecessary? It seems as logical as "kangaroos are native to Australia therefore smallpox had a high mortality rate" Yeah they'd rather run around for a couple of people talking 5 feet away than catching criminals. Smallpox actually killed around 300 million, no comparison whatsoever I could have said "bananas are grown in Queensland therefore fish live in the sea" if you like. You missed out on your calling by 80yrs. Hitler would have loved to have had you in his ranks. Forced vaccination whats next after that forced Euthanasia for elderly people? You should be ashamed of yourself for uttering such totalitarian comments. We live in a freedom of speech and movement in a western civalization. You are missing your calling as a dictator buddy. Shameful comments. Forced vaccination for a virus that is only 0.1% fatal. OK so you're comparing someone who invaded other countries, slaughtered millions of people because they were gay or Jewish or not aryan with a nation trying to prevent deaths caused by a virus.? Ffs the level of debate in here is awful at times. You can wine about lost rights and freedoms that's your opinion. But please stop comparing measures in a democratic state trying to save lives with those in a totalitarian state trying to slaughter people. It's ridiculous. Some loud voices who spew complete nonsense and levels of stupidity just amazes me. " Yep, you're not wrong there. Stupidity spreads quicker than the new variant

Doubt all the protesters in London would take on a unit of squaddies like they did the police. My example the young lady in Hyde park over the weekend launching items at the police then her friends screaming she was a child the police were man handling her. She is in fact 18 and was resisting arrest for said items and abuse she created. Or the man in the news this evening travelled from Essex to the Peak District for a day out we are all accountable for our actions and every action has a consequence. Can't work out your simplification of crimes It's no simplification at all. If people die as a result of spreading the infection that's more serious than a crime against belongings. As for rap£ murder.. I agree absolutely need to be taken most seriously. Thankfully both are still relatively rare in our country. Just to say that there were 683 murders excluding Greater Manchester and 85,000 women and 12,000 men (16-59) experienced ra£e or sexual assault in England and Wales alone. That's about 11 of the most serious sexual offences (of adults alone) every hour. That's pretty frightening. I hadn't actually realised that nearly 100,000 people are experiencing life changing assaults each year.. Put that against a person (who may well be exempt) not wearing a mask in a shop Or the fucker who infected my mum who is now fighting for her life. You see... This virus kills people. And people are not taking their responsibilities seriously enough. Im not suggesting at all that other crimes aren't meriting policing. I'm saying if the police aren't taking the enforcement seriously, the people very clearly won't either. It kills people. It's a deadly weapon. Treat it seriously. " So go and find the individual that apparently infected your mum. You are obviously intent on blaming someone and I appreciate it's your mum and I'm not taking it lightly but the 100,000 people's lives who were affected are some somebodies mum, gran, daughter , granddaughter, father, grandfather, son etc. Their lives are affected probably up to the next 60+ years and some longer and that does not include under age. Don't these people count?

"He should introduce the French system where you need to show a form detailing your reason for being outside your house. Either on paper or on your phone. The form shows who you are, where you live, when you left home and you tick a box against the allowed activity you are doing. No valid form, instant fine. Out for too, long instant fine. Too far from home, instant fine. Fines double each time. I agree, also everyone should be required to produce required papers when asked by council wardens or get instant fines or face arrest. "Why are we not rolling out the armed forces? Also stick a strict curfew on the country . Oh yes, put the army on the street to do what exactly ? And a curfew. That’s it, this virus is being spread at the dead of night. Genius. " Who said anything about the dead of night? The virus doesn't select a time that's best to spread, but a curfew from say 9 onwards would keep groups of teenagers off the streets for starters. The police are stretched hence extra help from the military.

"Country can go to tier 5, 6 or 200 .. but its pie in the sky without enforcement. Let's be honest, plod won't turn up if you get bungled or robbed, so why bother putting in GUIDELINES when you can't enforce it? " Totally agree, I have said this from the off, there is no point in a law that isn't enforced, people will just ignore it, especially in this country. Up the fines, 1k minimum, start impounding cars, let em walk home, selfish idiots. Any shop owners deliberately flouting the rules, up ramping prices up...close them down, they are quick enough visiting pubs and clubs etc All monies raised from fines, to go directly to the NHS or helping to support businesses.

"Maybe people could just obey the rules. This Our neighbours have broken them every day since March. I wish police, councils would do their jobs and fine them " Goodness this takes neighbourhood watch to a whole new level.

Also never forget the role Britain and France played in creating the utter monster that was the third Reich. We formed the environment for Hitler to gain power and abuse it in such horrific ways." You've been quite choosy which part you decided to reply to. Perhaps reading the reason I saud that might help enormously

"If you thought about history, the way and only way the Germans got democracy back was by the allies overcoming the 3rd Reich. The 3rd Reich did not give them back the democratic rights. Read history 'pal' Live the history... if you spent significant time in Germany or indeed Berlin you would very much appreciate how their post war history, reunification and their self imposed learnings for Ww2 formed what is probably one of the best examples of democracy and liberalism in the world. Hmmm We probally played a part with the war guilt clause but other factors led to nazism such as the economic crash.

A pandemic and a fragile global economy. Sounds like a great idea to put militaries in charge. History does repeat itself.

Would that be the same French epitome of efficiency that has managed to jab just 500 or so of its citizens? No wonder they are not allowed out." Not sure what we gain by pointing out other countries difficulties. The French don't seem to have got vaccines going yet. But if the lockdown rules and enforcement are as described... Does that not sound a clearer and more enforceable way? We are all in this together like it or not and it's in all our interests all our near neighbours solve this problem quickly. I wish the French good fortune getting vaccines going soon.

You have to have a consultation with your doctor to give your informed consent, if you are elderly you may need a relative with you at the appointment. You can't be vaccinated until 5 days after the consent to give you time to change your mind.

"A person I grew up with, is a police officer, and had just got fined 400 quid for hosting a hot tub party three days ago. What the actual fuck Sounds like good karma " We are in a shitty situation and as well many people are suffering emotionally with trying to do their best whilst others, on the face of it, couldn't give a hoot. And the media just love to make a story out of something. Eg 2 women break the rules and do something silly... Get fined... Let's have 2 days of headlines about it and promote arguments and division. I think we should try and be a bit more matter of fact about things. Break the rules, get fined, pay the fine, next. People are going to make mistakes and some people are going to be twats. We don't need to revel in the schadenfreude of people making bad choices. Stronger together.

" The story about the walkers made the news mainly because they thought they had nothing wrong and then the police have seemingly backtracked. I'm not a huge fan of some parts of the media ,but there job is to report the news, which is what Thet did. This angle of trying to implicate the media into it,is ridiculous.

Just a bit fucked up that a person who is supposed to be upholding the law is pissing on them exact laws. I wouldn't really of called it a mistake either. They knew what they were doing.
