Don't think he ever will get less of one! "
When you play the clown as part of your persona, I'm not sure how being a laughing stock affects you. |

What good is closing the borders going to do. It is within the community already. |

Identify which places don't contribute to infection rates but are beneficial for people's wellbeing.
Close schools for a few weeks whilst a better way of reintroducing students to classrooms can be devised and implemented.
Identify industries which are responsible for high infection rates/mass outbreaks (such as food processing plants) and introduce safer work practices.
Maybe it would help if shops were to implement Click and Collect systems? |

So in other words, reading between the lines.... reopen gyms, pubs, restaurants, close schools and stop food shopping and rely on click & collect and someone else making substitutions.
Nice idea but until they can categorically say this is where you caught the virus that isn’t possible.

It won't be from tomorrow.

Parliament has been recalled for Wednesday to vote on the measure announced tonight, so expect measures to take effect Thursday.
Sounds like all schools to be shut also.

That was commonly said after wuhan. Then we had a mutation from here that is spreading across the world.

We kinda need to do what Spain has in the way things are managed.
Curfew between specific hours.
National lockdown, police and the military on roads doing spot checks. Those who are key workers need letters from the company they work for with id as proof should they be moving for work.
No letters points on the license and spot fines.
Shopping to be done by 1 person from the household they book a window at the supermarket and print a letter from the store with the time window they have chosen.
Schools closed moved to online learning
Two months of this the virus would pretty much died a death.
And we can all start living again, no doubt some wouldn’t like this but then they wouldn’t like a loved one dyeing either.
And for those who have and continue to meet well done you have blood on your hands and have created further restrictions. |

Boris’s biggest problem is that he has relied on the public to be sensible throughout the pandemic. We are where we are now largely because of a minority of selfish/stupid/uncaring people who continue to ignore the guidelines and spread the virus ( sadly there are plenty of them on Fab). Don’t forget that Boris’s measures earlier in the year reduced the virus down to a few hundred new cases per day in the Summer and despite government advice there were loads of calls to open everything up and a lot of people started to behave as though the virus had gone. Even then without this new variant of the virus which no one was prepared for we would be in a much better position than we now are.
God help us if the new strain of virus in South Africa starts to spread as apparently this strain affects all ages and the scientists are worried that the current vaccines won’t work against it. |

Apparently the SA variant exhibits more than 20 mutations compared with the original strain - that high a number is not only highly unusual in itself, but of great concern is that a number of them are differences to the 'spike protein'...
....which is what the current vaccines have been developed to imitate and cause the immune system to counteract - potentially, the virus has already altered enough to require modifications to the vaccines we have now... |

Far far too lenient.
No one should be allowed out of their houses so no need for curfews.
Anyone caught leaving house gets an immediate £50k fine.

Then you get used to it.
Then an increase in tier and you take another whack and get used to it.

No one should be allowed out of their houses so no need for curfews.
Anyone caught leaving house gets an immediate £50k fine.
Repeat offenders to receive ten year jail sentences
Who will look after my Dad, who I care for and visit sometimes twice a day, if needed?... at 50k a visit it may be cheaper to put him in a home or as I like to call them a covid centre."

"I'd rather they get smart than get tough for the sake of looking tough.
So what is different in acting smart ?
Intelligent, targeted resteictions and control measures which habe more of a chance of making a positove impact than the "headless chicken" close stuff knee jerk approach.
Ok but what would they be ?
Reopen gyms and leisure centres, yes. Proven to be safe.
Pubs, not yet.

The reports are from October, they show that as our infection numbers increased so did the infections within gyms (albeit a lower rate), page 29 specific to the UK. The country and the rolling rate of infections have changed significantly in that time, so personally I don’t see this as a reason to keep them open, when as our outside numbers grew so they did within the leisure industry. |

If the public actually followed the rules, cases would be low. Look at China for example.
You can’t blame him for the actions of covidiots who won’t follow the rules.
Bring in higher penalties for those who break the rules and prison sentences for those who constantly break them. |

Even latest figures are less than a quarter of infections blamed on supermarkets.
And gyms have a positive effect of keeping people healthy both mentally and physically which outweighs their small risks.
At this time of year especially outdoor exercise isn't feasible for everybody. |

China is a poor example. Their figures are massively unreliable to the point of being unusable. They have no free, independent media or universities.
As for blaming so called "covidiots" this is a non starter ad there are not enough people breaking the rules on a large enough scale to account for the surge in infections.
All playing the blame game does is shift attention away from the uncomfortable truth that our current policies are not working at all and we have made no tangible progress in the last 12 months in regards to developing an effective strategy to manage covid. |

The irony is that those who'll be whingeing the loudest about the impending lockdown will be the ones who've never stuck to the rules/guidance since day one and are those who are responsible for the shitstorm we're in.

thats beyond naive , i don’t know one single person that hasn’t broken any rules at all, including nurses (and this one in particular has actually been pretty freaked out by the whole thing the full year) , policemen and even my grandparents
the severity ranges from letting people who were in the garden into the house for the loo to dates with sleepovers, meeting one or 2 friends indoors... i don’t know anyone in my close circles that have had huge gatherings but ive seen plenty of them on my socials
its pretty clear that most of us taking an inch has equated to just as bad as some taking a mile |

Except that all the biggest outbreaks have been traced to educational facilities and certain places of employment (very often food processing plants).
The chances of catching covid from the minor infractions described (such as allowing a visitor to use the toilet) is absolutely miniscule. |

probably but its the truth... and probably true for almost everyone reading it if they care to really think about everyone they know over the last year
a bit of self reflection and realising they we can’t just blame the government because its every small thing collectively adding up
I’ve not had it, so i can’t have spread it, but i guess thats just good luck for me and bad luck for some others because there will have been people that popped into the house for the loo touched something and gave it to one of their family

He should introduce the French system where you need to show form detailing you reason for being outside your house. Either on paper or on your phone. The form shows who you are, where you live, when you left home and you tick a box for the allowed activity you are doing. No valid form, instant fine. Out for too long instant fine. Too far from home, instant fine. Fines double each time. |

In france the police stop you and ask to see your form. It was more enforced in the first lockdown than the second to be honest. |

We'll be getting the equivalent of the original March lockdown again, inc schools, across the board and from tomorrow, even though Parliament not in until Weds. 50k cases per day for the last week is insane. More than the rest of Europe combined just about. It is so much worse than when it all started, just thnakful the death rate hasn't quite ticked up, yet. |

A lockdown can come into force from midnight, has it does not need approval due to the fact that the NHS is likely to or will fail which is classed as a national/civil emergency. Mrs T done this with the Falklands War has she put the wheels in motion has parliament was on Easter Recess. |

Won't work as people can't afford to isolate when positive.
If I catch any of our staff working when showing signs of Covid or have recently tested positive without informing me. We sack them immediately, gross misconduct endangering other employees and clients. Already sacked three people this week, one more week before. Cant follow the rules, go find another job that pays as well as we do.
Having said this, most of our staff have done a amazing job this past year. They have follow all guidance and helped us out greatly. They will be getting rather a large tax free bonus soon. "
Why do they need to continue working if you're paying them to isolate? |

"Watching the news through my fingers
I've had nearly a bottle of wine as I'm so peed off
I’ll just watch the thread, get the snapshot and read later, not in the mood to hear the buffoon
Its not difficult to listen to wise words. Distance, wash hands and wear your mask. When the diddly wacks cant do that the virus spreads so The Prime Minister has to treat everyone like children, who's the buffoon? I think you will find its the people not Borris. All the parties that went on the other night, all the people on here looking to play with strangers. The virus thrives and its all Borris' fault "
Did I say it was his fault nope ! I just don’t like listening to the man talk |

Oh my god, you know it's serious when the "R rate" has even gone up in Boris' name!
Sorry, my poor attempt at humour to lighten the mood. |

As for blaming so called "covidiots" this is a non starter ad there are not enough people breaking the rules on a large enough scale to account for the surge in infections..
thats beyond naive , i don’t know one single person that hasn’t broken any rules at all, including nurses (and this one in particular has actually been pretty freaked out by the whole thing the full year) , policemen and even my grandparents
the severity ranges from letting people who were in the garden into the house for the loo to dates with sleepovers, meeting one or 2 friends indoors... i don’t know anyone in my close circles that have had huge gatherings but ive seen plenty of them on my socials
its pretty clear that most of us taking an inch has equated to just as bad as some taking a mile
Except that all the biggest outbreaks have been traced to educational facilities and certain places of employment (very often food processing plants).
The chances of catching covid from the minor infractions described (such as allowing a visitor to use the toilet) is absolutely miniscule.
The biggest outbreaks according to trace and track are from household interactions yes but somebody has to bring it into the household in the first place."
HMOs are big hotbeds of infection.
Quite often after one housemate brings it in from the workplace. |

Oops, if only I had meant to do that. My bad. Note to self, proof read first before posting |
