"What further restrictions can be implemented as mooted from boris? Schools shut no one to work? Supermarkets shut where does it end? Discuss...."
In Wuhan this time last year, People couldn't leave their homes. Rather than going to get food, food was delivered. So maybe as a localised measure. |

In France you had to get official permission to leave your home on every single occasion. That could come. Penalties imposed if you broke the law, with inappropriate requests to exit your home denied. This could be imposed on the highest risk places or everywhere. Local imposition could allow for higher concentration of officials to stop and check people.
I would hate this level of control but I'd not assume anything could be ruled out. |

"We could all be locked in our houses and shot if we leave?! "
During the Black Death in the 1660s if a single member of a family caught the plague the whole family were locked in their homes and left to get on with things. Reading some of the posts of these virus threads there are fair few people who would like us all to have our doors bolted up solid. |

If they implemented anything else, the country will grind to a standstill and our post brexit economy will go bust. I accept that it is not nice that people are dying but without a stable economy and a functioning country even more people will die of other causes. |

The issue is the correct measures aren’t working because people aren’t following them. Therefore people have to be made to follow them or it won’t work. |

Nobody knows what the correct measures actually are, otherwise they would have implemented. The issue of enforcement is where you will have a problem, who is exempt and who will enforce it and how? |

If more people are stopped from going to work and earning a living majority of people won’t be able to afford to live in their homes and pay bills. Not everyone has been getting money during this pandemic lots of self employed people been given no financial help. |

Not that simple, people still need to work and therefore have to mix. Not a fact of people just ignoring it. Therefore in my opinion there is no solution and harsh as it sounds, maybe we need to let things run their natural course. If people do not want to mix then they can shield, that is their choice. Time to reopen the country for business. |

I think you'll find gov't (and such) plying its trade in those regions are flexing every bit as much muscle as they are in the UK, or US, or anywhere else for that matter. Every individual within influential levels of gov't (and such) is out to breach every shred of trust invested in them, always has done, and on that evidence i can only assume always will do. |

People are not following the guidelines because they feel that they are contradictory. If you can meet any number of people provided it is on a one to one basis provided you observe social distancing, how does that differ from meeting six people in a group provided you observe social distancing ? If schools allow teachers to mix in the staff room without wearing masks and being unable to observe social distancing, why are friends not allowed to meet up indoors? How do you police preventing people from making unnecessary journeys or traveling from a high tier area to a lower tier one, particularly when we have plenty of examples of wealthy people, politicians or political advisers doing precisely that but not facing legal action?
The government has passed legislation that can only be implemented in a haphazard way, consequently people feel that it is ok to ignore the law as there is a good chance of evading being caught. |

After 9 months, can we please drop the "people don't know what they should be doing because advice is contradictory" nonsense.
Yes Boris & co are a complete bunch of fuckwits who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, yes they've been slow on acting on numerous occasions and yes the approach to quelling the virus has been haphazard.
However, we need to stop making excuses for the stupidity of a decent proportion of our population who know full well what they should be doing. They just choose not to because theyre selfish/not wanting to be told what to do/think they're incapable of catching or spreading the virus etc.
The sooner we start accepting some of the blame for the spread ourselves and stop acting irresponsibly the sooner we get our lives back. |

Contradictory guidelines don’t help. Bozo says schools are safe, children don’t suffer badly... neglecting to notice that school is run by...adults who do, & who by going to work infringe the mixing of households rule... just like anyone else who has a job does. I am being slightly mischievous of course, but even so...not hard to follow basic advice, but you still find yourself technically breaking a rule. |

The Dr Hillary TV chap said the other day something like "this is a virus that will die out completely in 3 weeks if nobody mixes".
We're allowing it to drag on to a year because we aren't willing/able to do so. The vast majority of people and businesses could cope with a strict three week lockdown at home with just a little advance planning and a little financial support. It's how we handle the exceptions that creates the difficulty. |

"The Dr Hillary TV chap said the other day something like "this is a virus that will die out completely in 3 weeks if nobody mixes".
We're allowing it to drag on to a year because we aren't willing/able to do so. The vast majority of people and businesses could cope with a strict three week lockdown at home with just a little advance planning and a little financial support. It's how we handle the exceptions that creates the difficulty."
Oh just this!!! Isn’t it just insane that due to stupidity this has lasted so long. |

"So come on then all you geniuses saying that the government aren't doing it correctly.
What would you do and who do you suggest should be at the helm leading the country.
Sensible answers only ,no farage nonsense"
I’d would do what New Zealand did ... simple. Hard lockdown with serious consequences for a short time. Not this half arsed nonsense that’s dragged on for 10 months. |

"What further restrictions can be implemented as mooted from boris? Schools shut no one to work? Supermarkets shut where does it end? Discuss....
In Wuhan this time last year, People couldn't leave their homes. Rather than going to get food, food was delivered. So maybe as a localised measure.
Delivered by who though?
Supermarket delivery slots are already booked up really quickly"

We watched our first Amazon delivery from Morrrisons to one of our neighbours on Monday.
After seeing the guy literally just drop the shopping at their door, we decided that we wont be bothering.
Bet half of it was damaged the way he manhandled the stuff. |

"Update... schools now shut till march, supermarkets next to be restricted maybe...
GCSE and A-level exams will not in Northern Ireland this year.
Or England"
Feel for the kids, relying on others to decide their grade. Some are better at exams than daily work and vice versa. |
