Being cooped up with freedoms severely restriced can be seriously depressing. What practical tips can you pass on to others to help them cope?
We'll start by suggesting you turn off news notifications on your phone - if you want news you can find it, without having gloomy headlines slapped in your face throughout the day.

Keep doing stuff. Any stuff. Learn something new. Start a language . . . make stuff to sell . . . the ideas are endless. |

"Keep in touch with people...text, phone, zoom, write a letter. Dont let yourself get isolated. "
We do weekly Zook drinks - it's actually been a really good laugh and have gotten to see some mates more than I usually do! |

Masturbation... but not too excess.
Routine
Have a goal or goals... not involving masturbation
Keep smiling keep calm and don’t watch too much news or negative media
Be nice to others and yourself |

Gives you an aim, gets you out of the house and pushes you a little - assuming you can't run 5k already!!"
This I would highly recommend! Don't need an App, just a nice route, safe and pollution free.
Before Covid I could hardly run a mile, now I'm doing four easy! |

Also keep your sleeping pattern somewhat normal, especially in winter when it gets dark early. Sleeping in late and living in pretty much perpetual darkness gets me depressed quicker than anything else, as does the feeling of having wasted the day. |

I've got a load wilting in the fridge (wishful thinking while shopping last week)! I had to make myself put the Quality Street down and have a salad for lunch today |

If you have Audible, this audio book is excellent. TBH it's more like a workshop. It's written by a highly skilled personal development trainer ( who has also written a book about her battle with brain tumours). She's someone I have met personally and she's a very skilled and compassionate trainer.
It's called,Awakenings in the Time of Coronavirus by Sophie Sabbage. Highly recommended. |

Also I just want to point out that when you are suffering from poor mental health and low motivation, even small things like putting your shoes on to go outside or waking up at 11am instead of noon can seem almost impossible. If you do think you need a helping hand then do not hesitate to discuss starting medication with your GP. There is absolutely NO shame in using citalopram or sertraline to treat your mind while you recover from depression in the same way you would use paracetamol or Strepsils to treat a sore throat while you recover from a cold. |

Learning to accept the things that you cannot change and concentrate on the things you can.
Keeping a routine and getting things done.
Keeping in contact with friends and family.
Taking the opportunity to improve yourself - whatever you choose.
Also remember that we will get through this and will get our lives back. |

Start short do-able projects,
Finish outstanding projects.
Pick a lockdown project, painting a room, rebuilding something, restoring an antique, so you'll have something to show for your lockdown,

Get natural. Experience the natural world as much as possible, even if it's just a few moments connecting with natural things around you. Not everyone is close to the countryside but if we can see trees, plants, animals and outdoors somehow, it's revitalising and great for our wellbeing.
Talk with others. We evolved to be social, so engaging does us good. Small chats may be a lifeline.
Sleep well. If your sleep isn't great, take small steps to improve it.
Exercise is important for health and wonderful fun mental health. A pointless walk may be a good investment, if you don't feel that motivated to do anything.
Nourish yourself, with engagement with anything that you enjoy. Anything small will be another investment.
Volunteer. Quite a few of us hers do voluntary work. It may have a toll but if you find the right thing for you, it can be hugely rewarding. You don't have to be just doing it to help others - it's fine to do it if you want to get something from it - altruism is great but you're absolutely great to do it also for yourself. You'll probably enjoy being generous with your time and giving. |

When my friends found out they instigated a whats debreif chat. Im the single 1. They r all married.
