And saw two men fighting over carrots! Besides Rudolph who actually eats carrots?
Remember that the ports blockage is outward NOT inward.
Okay so - Any offers on Sprouts I'll let you have a kilo for £32! |

As much as I laugh at the photos of people panic buying bog rolls, I remember a comment from somewhere in the first lockdown.
The people who have very little money can't afford to stock up their cupboards. They need to go to the shops only when they have some money, but the shelves are bare because of the wealthier people panic buying.
'Wealthier' doesn't even mean rich, it's just everyday people with money to hoard food and goods.

It’s only since living here we get ours delivered. If it’s on the doorstep or just one or two bits we’d go local & get it. However our nearest “Proper” shops are 24 miles away & Asda & Tesco will both deliver for less than a fiver.
It’s a no brainier really for us anyway, but we use local farm shops & butchers too, but usually for meat offers, as although yes they are way better they are also way way more expensive.
Dearest meat in these parts is still lamb, & we have escapees walking round our garden on a weekly basis.
go figure

I've a few thousand pounds for a couple of sprouts, carrots, potatoes and some granary bread - I'll wave it at the exit door to a supermarket and let a few 50s go free in the wind. Hopefully the ignorant hoarders will run for my dosh, dropping some of their stash. Obviously the UK is never, ever going to have any food again, so we can muddle through to the end of the week, just about. Then it's eating grass and fallen leaves. Obviously no Perrier, so will manage with ditch water and bubble blowing through a straw. |

I would imagine less bureaucracy and less than half the current world population helped a bit. Not being sarky there, the volumes of food required now with our population and waste habits are enormous. |

Yes they are reacting to fear which then leads to a knockon effect of those that dont, as you have to get the things youself, there is an interesting article on bbc about the "Coronavirus: The psychology of panic buying" Are they simply preparing, or irrationally panicking? https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20200304-coronavirus-covid-19-update-why-people-are-stockpiling |

My mum always had her shopping delivered. A boy used to arrive with it in a cardboard box on the front of his bike, the baker and butcher delivered too. Fruit and vegetables used to arrive on a horse and cart. This was in the late 50s and early 60s we lived in a rural area so maybe it was different in towns and cities. My dad was a delivery boy during early WW2 for a grocer. |

Not a thing wasted ever in our house.
I simply won't allow it, we live a very tight budget and treats are rare and essentials are budgeted with military precision.
Wasted food is my number 1 hatred and if it wont be eaten it won't be bought and substituted for something that will be used in a meal |

Unaccompanied inward still means that freight will get through.
They will sort it. Not at the speed everyone wants them to, but then don't we all want everything yesterday?

Could be interesting on or after 1st jan for both UK and eu citizens trapped if the border closures continue..what happens as most would need a visa of some kind if working...including drivers. Hopefully ports been shut is a wakeup call about growing and consuming more of our own produce I try and by British as much as I possibly can it's deffiently better for the environment with far less transport plus you put the money back in to the country instead of abroad. Just have to eat abit more inline with the seasons which at this time of the year can be abit boring. |

By talking about panic buying you're just encouraging it???
Many people are saying there's no shortage at all, full shelves, people are posting old pics on twitter to get people going.
Switch the news off
