"Ban imposed by virtually every European country as the final brexit deadline passed without a deal....just an unfortunate coincidence or an act of spite?"
Many countries around the world, and especially in Europe, are closing borders and severely restricting travel.
Covid is on the march, whatever the variant. |

It makes sense to not allow travel. I personally think it should’ve happened at the start. Should’ve just allowed travel to get home.
I’m not a scientist but I just think that it would’ve eased the spread.
Just my thoughts. Don’t slate me. |

We should have banned people coming in back in March 2020 but we didn’t and had no checks / quarantine or tests at our points of entry, now where in this right royal fuck up ! |

"Coincidence.
But these countries have demonstrated their sovereignty, even whilst they are within the EU. It's a fitting statement for the UK which poses new risk"
True, they are only protecting themselves. Now more than ever they have nothing to do with the U.K. anymore so (story might have been different if we were still part of the EU and/or had a deal)
Shows they aren’t bullshitting (still laugh at all those who said and keep saying...... but they need us more than we need them!!!!) |

Israel are not in europe."
And Canada too, I guess every other country now is being sensible as the reason is this new variant of covid that none wants ... |

"Let us not forget, while we were in our first lock down, 20,000 000 people flew into the UK,untested un quartined, this until June 3rd"
Countries weren’t as ready (lesson learnt now I think) and obviously it’s the incompetence of this government (still we don’t require people to test before arrival!!! Which is mad)
We just ask people to self isolate and guess what, so many didn’t even bother to do so! |

Common Sense actually. No more no less. There has been some conversation that the new strain may have come in through a channel port to start with. We could argue that our scientists are finding the mutations quicker.
It was already reported in Africa before here. |

.
Coincidence I'd say too
Think Hancock's "it's out of control" headlines had more to do with the snap decisions than brexit tbh.

Yeah, coincidence for me.
Think they would of done exactly the same regardless of our European status.
Every country is out for itself where cvd is concerned it seems. |

To be fair they all need votes to stay in power and if it does indeed
turn out to be a much more infectious version and they had done nothing about it,
well, that would be just handing their oppositions a big stick to beat them with. |

Luckily we've have 9 months to work on that... You'll notice we now have world beating checks tests quarantine that is well enforced now. Because nobody could predict a 2nd 3rd 4th wave of this fucking bastard virus |

Absolutely spite. With a layer of virus protection.
Anyone who ever thought EU would do a deal was out of their mind. They will revel in punishing us now so even without covid we were in for a decade of adjustment and pain. |

Utter insanity.
Yet tell farage and his followers to have an extension and they will blow their top"
It takes both sides to take a break from talks. |

Offers of appropriate leeway extensions, due to the emergency, have been rejected by the UK. It's about the only decision that the self-entitled wind bag can take and communicate clearly though, like his others, he's happy to make any terrible situation deteriorate even further, whatever the consequences. |

No. There's a big difference between a hard brexit and the wild West. Is it in the eus interest that brexit is succesful or fails.? |

Don’t really think the EU cares about our interests anymore. We have severed links and have no protections ... United we stand ..... and we are falling flat on our face spectacularly |

That's his entire gameplan so far, do nothing until its too late to do anything other than come up with a meaningless soundbite. Literally we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas. |

When the negotiating partners make a generous offer to alleviate compound problems, it's silly to be dogmatic and to refuse, whilst making things worse for us. |

It takes at least two sides to negotiate who are motivated to arrive at a settlement and where the outcome of which must have benefit for both sides. Otherwise its just a delusion. And in this case both sides aren't motivated to arrive at a settlement.
I can't stand reading all the.. We are crap and you know we are comments... If "we" are that crap and you don't like it.... Do something about it and stop whining. |

We have decided to leave
We are cut off from half the world
We could listen to the growing calls for an extension.
A sensible gmnt would approach the eu and say..look can we put this on ice.?
I'd put a wager they wouodnt tell us where to go.
Instead you have that odious toad Farage saying we need a no deal and no 10 categorically stating there will be no extension.
Which just goes to show that we are being governed by a gang of fanatics. |

You state both sides aren't motivated for a settlement. This is akin to both sides wanting the worst outcome for themselves. Perhaps you have hotlines to leaders giving you such privileged tactical deta.
This isn't the politics forum area. It's Virus.
There's a substantial health and economy hobbling underway due to the virus. A few months leeway after many decades, whilst supporting businesses and the economy to fare better, is the wiser solution than throwing the toys out of the pram, because you can't dovetail the finer points whilst your cohntry and partners' are ravaged by an unpredictable factor. Headless chickens intend on mass calamity should be withdrawn from stoking such potential. A few weeks will support greater rollout of vaccinations and development of our understanding of the new virus variant, which should also facilitate trade. |

No. What I said is that it takes at least two sides who are both motivated by a successful outcome. Which is very different from both sides wanting the worst outcome. For further clarity, from what I have seen. One side (ie not both) is not motivated to achieve a successful outcome. And to be honest. I have no inside track. But I've negotiated deals and there are many issues with what has happened here. One of which is issues being aired publicly. (which to be fare in the last 5 days they seem to have stopped doing)
I personally don't see anything to suggest delays will help resolve matters. I'm not entirely convinced we have the skills to negotiate a deal in the first place. But that said.... I agree with you... Dick measuring and posturing to the respective publics doesn't help matters at all. |
