"So the current tiers are being reviewed on Wednesday. Do you think the restrictions will stay the same or may there be a slight relaxing of them?"
I think my local area will go to tier 3...infection numbers are through the roof. Irony that daughter at uni... Where numbers are now way way below national average, will come back home to infections that are 15 times higher.
It seems its not far from being out of control. People are choosing to spread it and infect others. |

We're in Tier 3 and tbh I hope it stays that way, any relaxation will only produce another spike. I think London should go into Tier 3, it's no coincidence while the majority of the country were put into tier 3, London went to tier 2 and are now showing rising infections. |

It's hard to forecast for me. I think we'll stay in 3, despite large falls, because of the super-large areas. 3 isn't popular because of hospitality venues closure, with many wanting to be at a pub, though it carries risks. |

If in line with previous changes and behavioural activity, we will see big rises in number start if new year and nation wide lockdown might be a result of pandering to the pressure to have a normal Christmas. We'll pay the price. |

I'm sure I read the new rules start Saturday the 19th so its only a couple of days notice
I do feel for your son,so many people in that situation and have to struggle through this,with little or no support

It's extremely hard times for everybody.
I'm grateful everyday that I have managed so far to.provide a warm roof over my children and we have food on the table.
I know many people are really struggling.

I think Labour were asking for a 2 week circuit break as suggested by sage. Wales did have a 2 week circuit break as suggested by sage.

The only relaxation for the Christmas period is travel and number in a household bubbles. All tier rules stay the same otherwise. So it's not a "no restrictions for Christmas" situation. A lot of the media coverage on this is political, not science based. |

Three households can be a lot of people. We have 2 sons, they have 4 children each, some at work, some at school, one at uni. We haven't been seeing them and won't at Christmas, even though we're allowed to, it doesn't make any sense. |

My area is below 200 per 100,000 so I say get West Yorkshire dropped to Tier 2 like all those other areas which were given the privilege last time.
I’m sick to the back teeth of bottled beer and take-aways, I want a night away, I want to be able to live my life ffs.
I’ve seen the hospital numbers for the North-east and Yorkshire, the government and the experts are talking out of their arses.
Heads will roll when the truth comes out in a couple of years time, starting with Mr glass almost empty himself, Chris Whitty.

Finally some sense. The amount of people I've heard say there's no restrictions etc etc and then when you piss on their flame they turn and say well I'm not changing my plans. My response...You'll have to change your plans in a couple of weeks tho won't ya ?... You'll have funerals to attend. |

So make whatever rules they like but people have to follow them. And very obviously people didn't follow the rules in Wales lockdown... And in most places in England too. |

And I’ll say it again as long as people are going to work, going to school, going shopping then cases of a respiratory virus will continue to rise at this time of year.

Agree, it’s nothing to do with ignorance.
Pubs are shut, restaurants are shut, work goes on, schools are open, people are wearing masks and in general not many people are having house parties on a Saturday night are they?
I’m no genius, but when you read the gov flu report, the top 2 places for Covid outbreaks are....
Nursing homes and education establishments.
It’s winter, it’s cold/flu & Covid season ffs.
And it’s not what they are making out, the biggest problem is not beds, it’s staffing!!!

I suspect something like the following.
If the cases in a specific Tier are on the rise, that tier will probably move up a tier.
If that tier (with rising cases) borders other tiers that have a higher tier than them, then there may be even more of a compelling case to move up to the same tier as the bordering tiers.
If you are a tier 2 bordered by tier 3's, and case are rising in your tier, I suspect you'll be tier 3 sooner rather than later.
For this reason I strongly suspect Colchester to move from Tier 2 to Tier 3 come the next review. This is because a lot of South and Mid Essex has just moved to Tier 3.
The A12 may be a dreadful road for many reasons linking North Essex to South Essex, but it's an incredibly effective vector for carrying infections all over the place.
I've barely seen any quelling of traffic, though that may change ofc come this Wed. |

It isn't, however it's far more dangerous to close every supermarket in the country and deprive the entire population of food. It is a balance of risk, ask yourself if not having access to food, beer or a haircut will kill you. If you answered no to any of them, then they are not essential. |

I don't think anybody has ever said it's safe or safer in a supermarket than anywhere else. Yes there are massive inconsistencies with the rules.
It's important to always bare in mind the overriding principles that it's reducing the risk of spreading infection. So it's a out taking small percentages of risk away where ever possible. Hence masks as one example. |
