its such a vague and perfectly round statistic that i dont imagine it is accurate
it could also mean 1 person before and 100 now or it could mean 10,000 before and a million now ... the devil is in the details
i dont doubt we have a lot of catching up to do though |

"Said it ages ago don’t get ill with anything other than Covid
So what is the solution? "
The only thing that’s going to help is everybody following the guidelines and keeping the infection rate as low as possible to keep the number of beds taken up by COVID patients as low as possible. I suspect we have a big problem coming after Christmas though. Good chance of another national lockdown from mid January to the end of March I suspect. |

The numbers are huge whichever way you want to look at them. |

Had a pre op assessment last december. And had to have some treatment then was supposed to have my op but was delayed because of covid. Still waiting. It's now been a year and 8 months since first going to the drs and I've no idea when I'll be going in now.
Have heard of some clinics and operations starting back up though eveythings going to be back logged massively. |

So what is the solution?
Too late for solution.
The damage is already done.
"
Damage? What should have been done instead? |

Is that not a damage? My opinion on what should have been done instead is irrelevant. The government advisors opinion is what matters. |

"OP is misleading. It’s the waiting list for non urgent treatment that’s the problem. People are still be treated. I know of 3 people who were admitted for treatment recently."
Close relative flew through Covid, but we nearly lost her from burst hernia which should have been routinely done in May.

Agreed. In the main emergency and urgent ops/treatments still happening. I really do feel for those awaiting what aren't considered to be urgent ops though. Am sure there's loads of folks out there living with a lot of pain and discomfort. |

Which is why i have no patience whatsover with every person crying about how hard it is to wear a mask and keep their distance. I am well aware that distancing and other measures are not always physically possible because of many good reasons; but anybody that does not at least try to do the best they can is a selfish cnut that contributes to making the problem bigger. |

What kind of treatment are they referring to? I've been undergoing hospital treatment since May and have still been having phone and video consultations, have been able to get prescriptions easily and have still been able to go to the hospital for blood tests. Unless you are just talking about operations? |

Pointless soundbite OP.
You said it in your statement Pre pandemic.
Pandemic being the key word we are in the middle of the biggest global pandemic of this century.
What the fuck are the NHS supposed to do exactly?
Every year at this time depending on the weather non essential procedures get pushed back.
So if we get snow and ice extra cold weather the NHS prioritize trauma case's over routine.
This has been going on for years.
I had shoulder surgery delayed by almost two years due to snow and ice trauma's. |
