Anti vaccine

Because there are people in this world who believe the government and rich people are putting microchips into it so we can be kept an eye in at all times.
There are others who are aware that as a new vaccine there will be no record of any long term effects, as there hasn't been time for it to be tested in that sense. |

Perhaps people don’t trust the government, don’t take flu jab each year to build their own immunity. Lots of reasons why people would refuse it, personally I wouldn’t take it either. Think it’s a basic human right to decide what’s going in my body and what’s not.

Just don't see the reason why do u ask this type of question, like not taking vaccine is something really bad, against humanity?? Of course there is a many reasons people won't take rushed vaccine and also based on previous experiences from some companies, for example Pfizer |

So I should walk around in a hazmat suit every day in case I get the flu and pass it to someone. Everyone. I suppose all those years I haven’t taken a flu jab I must be responsible for millions of deaths from flu around the world |

The mechanisms of vaccination are difficult to understand and have been questioned since Jenner.
People don't understand relative risk and think in terms of action versus inaction. Vaccination becomes "taking medicine when you're not sick" rather than prevention. (Yes vaccines carry risk, that's not a secret)
There are several groups with various interests in trying to undermine vaccination, largely for financial or political gain.
We don't recognise the horrors of most vaccine preventable diseases because vaccination has shielded us from it
A growth in individualism away from communal responsibility
A rise in autism diagnoses
Fragmenting of discourse online
The supposed death of expertise
Rise in conspiracy theories
... Probably more |

Because it normally takes ten years to develop a vaccine and they have rushed this out in 12 months. It may take a good couple of years to find out if you have any serious or life changing side affects as well. You want to be a guinea pig? Go for it.

I don't understand why people are being vilified and demonised based on the fact they are anxious about it, surely some understanding and rationality would have a better impact that the Hitleristic behaviours of many on that virus forum?
To label people an 'antivaxer' and the other atrocious name calling that goes on helps no one. Yeah some are being a dick about it but the majority, myself included are no worse than anxious.... The vigilante mindset of some is uncalled for.... |

There's a reason why terms like "vaccine hesitancy" exist. It's not the same as anti vax.

Much of the reason is due to the disgusting Andrew Wakefield, who fraudulently created results for his own end, to discredit the MMR vaccine. He thankfully was struck off as a former Doc. He's tirelessly milked it for his benefit ever since. The media, especially the daily mail, ran campaigns for years on from this, being antivax. They have never apologised. Thousands of people risked their lives and health, ensuring that children weren't given the MMR vaccine as well as other vaccines, ruining global health. Huge unofficial pressure not to vaccinate has manipulated millions of minds.
That's the real crux of why we have this problem.
Sure, people have individual reasons they'll give but after many years of eroding trust, manipulated minds will go the wrong way |

There's been an alliance between various anti vax groups and certain libertarian groups over Covid (not all people worried about vaccines, not all libertarians, etc), which is quite worrying and is an immediate threat. |

You may we have a 99% chance of survival. But what about the percentage chances of those you pass it on to, and the people they pass it on too?
Do you use condoms, it even says on the packet 99% effective.

I in no way support the groups dead set against vaccines, any vaccines but just don't believe the majority here are of that ilk. I am nervous about having it but I take every other precaution, abide by rules but people do have a right to question without being branded, don't you agree?
My guess is it will settle and the vast majority of folk will accept the vaccine, myself included and hopefully it will be the solution but let's not allow division it helps no one nor any cause |

The vectors have been used for years in other vaccines, the only new part is the spike protein. Long term side effects are very rare from vaccines. Most adverse events occur in the first few months.

It depends on the questioning, I suppose. Some use "I'm just asking questions" as a weapon.
I'm angry and scared and fear a situation where vaccination uptake is inadequate to protect people. I recognise vilification won't help - and I'm as human as everyone else, and I'm sorry for that. (Although I suspect at the extreme end there is no other option. Some people are actually saying that the vaccines are a Martian plot. What response is there to that other than derision? - not all people questioning vaccines. Just people in that category)
I happen to know a fair amount - for a lay person - about vaccination. Family and individual circumstances, plus when I'm scared I seek out experts to allay my fears.
I just want to protect people, ultimately. Including all of you. Whether you want my protection or not. I think it's what society should do: protect each other. |

The one thing that is absolutely certain about COVID is that if enough people don't have the vaccine to create herd immunity and vastly reduce the number of infections we will all be living the same life we have led for the last nine months for a long time to come and those who haven't been vaccinated (and some who have) will repeatedly contract covid and pass it on. |

The issue is if there are travel or freedom of movement restrictions if you don't take it
But considering the government had ordered around 15million doses, some of which will be required to be taken twice, and the most vunerable are first on the list, I can't see there being restrictions |

I'll be queuing up to get a vaccine as soon as it's available. Can't wait for life to return to some semblance of normal.
Wouldn't be surprised to see governments crack down on anti vaccers, no vaccine no entry. This could be for schools, universities, public positions etc.
Anyone touting anti vaccine nonsense should go and look at some of the photo/video archives for the now mostly eradicated diseases; whooping cough, polio, etc.
They should also look up small pox which has been completely eliminated due to effective vaccination. |

And it could take years for the long term effects of catching and recovering from covid to present themselves. I had chicken pox as a kid; now i can get outbreaks of shingles when tired and stressed out. According to my doctor the eruption of it on my face this summer, if it wasn't for the now available anti viral drugs, could easily have scarred my eyes or even left me blind. Instead it was merely weeks of intense pain.
Other diseases now much reduced by the use of vaccines: Exposure to German Measles during pregnancy causes miscarriage, and stillbirth or chronic birth defects in babies that reach full term . HPV can cause 20 year delayed cancer, in men (various organs) as well as women. Mumps can result in deafness, brain inflammation, reduced fertility or sterility. Childhood illnesses have been linked with depression and anxiety during adult life.
The deal is this: SARS-CoV-2 has been designed by nature to spread quickly and infect as many people as it can. Once infected it travels in the bloodstream and burrows deep into all organs. We have no idea whether it may lay dormant in tissues for years (like chicken pox does, causing shingles). It is a new virus, long term effects could be anything.
The various vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 are designed by collaboration of extremely clever people across the globe to give protection and specifically avoid side effects. They are given huge amounts of testing with medical supervision of trial volunteers. Reports of the most minor unwanted effects are investigated, a single incident can delay or even halt completely the licensing of a vaccine. In the case of a worldwide roll out, those who are not at immediate vital risk from the virus are unlikely to even get a chance of being vaccinated for between six months and a year.
It _is_ sensible to have concerns about the efficacy and safety of a new vaccine, and it is right that there should be much scrutiny and overlook of the methods and testing of the companies making these vaccines. It is quite possible that these vaccines for covid will have been better investigated by more independent bodies than anything previously.
I am concerned at the suggestions/rumours, maybe even done deal, that the manufacturers are to be indemnified by our government against claims for side effects. Perhaps instead of campaigning against vaccination, a better alternative would be to campaign that government should guarantee compensation for any person suffering side effects. After all, if a vaccine is truly safe this guarantee would cost nothing. And if there really are any reasonable doubts over a vaccine, it would deter government from allowing use of that vaccine.
In summary - vaccine, got to be safer than catching the virus. But transparency and oversight is vital, government must provide confidence in the process, and it most certainly must not be anything provided by one of Michael Gove's dodgy mates in a multi million corrupt deal! |

"Oh Jesus again...if u happy with taking vaccine take it, it's simple, if u don't want just don't take it...
The issue is if there are travel or freedom of movement restrictions if you don't take it
But considering the government had ordered around 15million doses, some of which will be required to be taken twice, and the most vunerable are first on the list, I can't see there being restrictions"
I think it's a number surplus to the population. We've got a small number of a couple of them and a much larger volume of the Oxford vaccine. They're not all available immediately - 1 of the USA ones, think it's potentially the Moderna 1, should be around shortly. Oxford not too long afterwards.
These all depend on getting UK approvals of course. |

"Perhaps people don’t trust the government, don’t take flu jab each year to build their own immunity. Lots of reasons why people would refuse it, personally I wouldn’t take it either. Think it’s a basic human right to decide what’s going in my body and what’s not.
"
You can't build up immunity to something you haven't been exposed to that's why they invented the vaccines |

I don't really care about the amount of people who don't "trust" vaccines.
It's concerning, but the greater issue is people don't understand how vaccines work.
The amount of times I've heard people say "if you're vaccinated, then you're protected, what does it matter if I don't get vaccinated?" and it's just terrifying.
I heard a fucking PRESENTER on a radio show make the same fucking point. |

I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want this "
Because people believe a lot of conspiracy about tracking device and side effects. I believe if people don't want it, then don't give them it. |

Governments, companies, scientists, pharma industry et al, have been known to lie / misinform / make mistakes / get it wrong. I am thankful that there are some people who challenge them and keep them on their toes. I see that as a positive and leading to a better outcome. BUT... There's also a point where the antis are not helping, and spreading misinformation and misleading or with their own disruptive agenda. Just be careful spreading falsehoods and diligent what and who you choose to believe. |

Because it normally takes ten years to develop a vaccine and they have rushed this out in 12 months. It may take a good couple of years to find out if you have any serious or life changing side affects as well. You want to be a guinea pig? Go for it.
Exactly this-I fail to see how it can be developed and properly tested in such a short time.
I have a friend who works for MSD Animal Health, they have been testing a vaccine for digital dermatitis in cattle since 2014, but despite there being no problems they cannot get it licensed for general release as there is insufficient data on the long term side effects.
If that is the case for a vaccine for livestock I can't see how a vaccine for humans can be tested and licensed in such a short time.
I am not "antivax" at all but I will be waiting to see there's no side effects before I risk it. Many times over history problems only come to light with hindsight- people thought asbestos was safe initially.... |

Just googled digital dermatitis for cattle. It's an infection of the foot caused by bacteria so treatment will be antibacterial sprays etc. I don't believe you can get a vaccine for bacterial infections that are on the external part of the body |

Might there be reasons why one speeds up administration, if one is looking for a treatment for something which has brought the world to its knees? |

Usual treatment is actually bandaging with lincocin powder or copper sulphate, but the idea of a vaccine is prevention not treatment-hence vaccinated cattle shouldn't get it in the first place.
As you claim you can't get a vaccine for such a thing, there is a full article about the new vaccine in the Farmers Guardian as it is eagerly awaited by farmers- an exert from the article:- “So, although digital dermatitis is the primary target for the vaccine, we are confident it will make a contribution to treating severe, non-healing forms of white line disease, sole ulcer, toe necrosis and other treponeme-associated lesions.”
Whilst I'm sure this vaccine is a world apart from the covid vaccine the point I was making was this vaccine hasn't undergone sufficient testing in six years, but a human one can be rolled out in one..... |

After the ebola epidemic scientists started work on a safe vaccine "blank" that could be ready to use for any new infection. They had sars as an example but had a new virus as a contingency. This is a minor adaptation of those "blanks" to inoculate against covid. That is why it has been quick. Most of the work was done already. Then they threw enormous amounts of money at it and have had a high prevalence environment to test it in. |

yep. The cereals today are 'modified' from generations ago. It has been done conventionally by plant breeding but that is basically genetically modifying by a hit and miss method. |

Ok, please compare apples with apples and not oranges.
1) The only Farmers Guardian article I can find is from 2016
2) Digital dermatitis in cattle is caused by multiple different bacteria infecting the foot. It would be naturally challenging to vaccinate against all the varied organisms which might cause this condition.
The SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is a totally different kettle of fish entirely. You'd be as well to compare human female menstruation and reproduction with that off birds. Both involve eggs and sperm, but that's about it. The eggs aren't even terribly comparable. |

The most investment in anything for a long time if ever and a pre worked out structure might be a reason for it going fast.
But who needs facts eh? |

Most people already eat GM food and completely blissfully unaware of the fact. |

Not me. I read a post on here by a guy with his cock out, who had no knowledge of vaccinations or medicine or anything for that matter... he said he'd heard they were rushed and dangerous, so you can keep your facts... I'm going with cock guy! |

Shag, you have no idea of the credentials of the forum contributor who posted the bit you replied to. Suffice to say he knows his onions.
And the colloidal silver thing is another pile of steaming BS. More quackery: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/24/ebola-cure-treatment-scams-fear-silver-vitamin-money |

The best thing colloidal silver does is turn your skin blue if you drink enough of it. |
