Some other forum mentioned something about people who don't clean trolleys and don't don't sanitise before and after using trolleys...

Here's something to think about, how do you get said trolley from the trolley bay to the sanitation station without touching it???

I've seen so many grab a trolley, wheel it to a station to wipe down then carry on without even wiping their hands afterwards!

I'm not sure it makes much difference. You can't catch it through your hands. As long as you are not in the habit of sticking your fingers up your nose or in your eyes and you wash them when you get home, you're probably fine.

So they don't put their hands near their face ?

It's all a bit pointless as you touch sommany other surfaces and products in the shop anyway.

We do because it looks bad if you don't but the single most important thing is clean your hands before you touch your face, you can't contract Covid through your skin.

I wear hand sanitiser and wipe the trolley from where I pick it up from but does seem a bit pointless as everything I buy isn’t sanitised and I put it in the fridge and cupboard when I get home and anybody infected could have touched what I bought moments before I did

Its impossible to get said trolley to the sanitation station without touching it. So its pointless asking. Its not rocket science on the best practice of how to handle a trolley during a pandemic when supermarkets provide you with sanitation.

I'm a manual wheelchair user. I apply sanitiser then touch my wheel rims and it's all for nought. I can't reach much of the stuff on the shelves (that's what my child and walking stick are for - child for hoiking into the air and walking stick to poke/hook things off shelves).

I use sanitiser on my hands before I go into the shop but in all honesty, I've got bigger fish to fry just negotiating the damned queuing system and finding one of the clip-on trolleys that's not broken/hidden out of sight/reach. I wash my hands as soon as I get home and don't lick the trolley handle - clinically clean, as my Granny would have said

Not sure about you but when I go shopping I pick up my groceries rather than touch as many things I am not buying as possible. Usually shelf stackers touch the products I buy and the person on the checkout also touches them. That's 2 people. Contact with products minimal time too.

A trolley have had loads of people touching on it for many minutes at a time. Breathing over it. Coughing over it. Sneezing over it.

I am quite sure that if a tin of beans was checked for germs after purchasing it would have less germs than a trolley...

Our company manufactures antibacterial coatings and we have been working on applying the same technology for food packaging. The virus does survive on surfaces. Our local dentist and his hygienist wife caught covid and was traced from an outbreak with its source at the local coop store.

I wipe everything down with wet soapy sponge (or remove and dispose of outer packaging) before putting anything in the fridge or cupboards and am also constantly washing hands during the procces.

Break the link - like an earlier poster, no colds or coughs so far this year, so principal and methodology seems to be working.

Do you have any evidence that it's handling money abroad that causes most illness? As opposed to things like dirty water, poor hand hygiene leading to E.coli and other enteral bugs, especially on uncooked food like salads? Or insect borne disease/bites?

Use to spend about half the year out of the country what money tested in India and Africa.

It is pore hand sanitizer stations sorted and hygiene hence went over to sanitizer about 3 years back not had problems from that point so it was about me and hands....

The people going in around me must have used theirs handsfree then. There was no standing outside and applying sanitiser and it's pointless applying in the car, then touching the car door etc.

I use gloves and then bin them at the sanitisation place after I have loaded the car. Drive home, sanitise the car tailgate and goods.
