I've seen this.
Instead of isolating you take a test every day for a week and can crack on with your life as long as you don't test positive.
Great in theory but how easy would it be to get tested every day? Fine in a large city/town where testing facilities are easier to access but what about more rural areas?
Wouldn't work here.

Someone I know works for a Medical Company and staff and volunteers have been testing the lateral flow test (saliva only) tests everyday for a month. So no more sticks up the nose. Lateral flow tests are done in 15mins max. |

I find it hard to understand why we haven't adopted the same system as in France. Over there tests are available at Dr's and pharmacies, they have to be carried out by a medically qualified person, but most towns, villages etc over here have easier access to a pharmacy than a test centre. |

The definition of close contact is within 2 meters for 15 minutes or more according to track and trace. I’ve had sex that didn’t involve close contact using that definition. |

I would imagine that delivery and pick-up of the tests would be done in-part at least by RM and Amazon contract if you are remote. We have enough Pharmacies and GP Practices to do the rest.

I agree in principle but...
I am in isolation now and am not allowed to get a test (no symptoms) because I could test negative today as I have not enough virus for a test to pick up, then test positive tomorrow. If I am going about my daily buisness then I am infecting others as we don't know how much virus it takes to infect. So no, I'll stick to isolating |

That is the case in rural or out of city locations, it doesn't work in the large cities where the population is greater.
And France has not had a great time controlling the levels there either, they spiked back in August and have struggled to get a handle on it.
The other drawback is that dr's and pharmacies then become a hub for those potentially with the virus and means anyone who needs to use them for non covid related reasons could be exposed. |

As symptoms can take over a week to show, with tests potentially picking up infections earlier, this sounds like a plan to create workforces potentially containing the infected who only get pulled out from infecting others after they may be doing it. Better to pay people to isolate and to test.

With regards to France their cases appear to have peaked on the 8th November and have been falling since apart from a blip on the 18th. Similarly with Spain who saw their cases peak on the 4th of November and have been falling since.
You can tell things are improving in countries when they are no longer being reported in the U.K. media. |
